US must get out of Ukraine - Trump

Washington risks getting stuck in another 'forever war', the former president has argued.

The United States needs a clear exit strategy for the Ukraine conflict, Donald Trump has told supporters at a campaign rally, insisting that neither his Democratic rival Kamala Harris nor President Joe Biden has any such plan.

The former president told the crowd in Savannah, Georgia, on Tuesday, Reiterating his promise to end the conflict immediately if he is re-elected, the former president told the crowd in Savannah, Georgia, on Tuesday:
"Biden and Kamala got us into this war in Ukraine, and now they can't get us out. They can't get us out.

"I think that we're stuck in that war unless I'm president. I'll get it done. I'll negotiate; I'll get us out. We gotta get out.

"Biden says, 'We will not leave until we win'.

"What happens if the Russians win? That's what they do - they fight wars. As someone told me the other day, they beat Hitler; they beat Napoleon. That's what they do. They fight. And it's not pleasant."
At another campaign rally on Monday, the Republican candidate claimed that Vladimir Zelensky wants Harris to win "so badly" because, as long as Democrats remain in power, the Ukrainian leader walks away with $60 billion every time he comes to the US.

Comment: No money, no war. It's not that hard to understand. As the US goes belly-up broke, perhaps this logic will become all too clear.

'General Winter' is about to unleash his wrath on Ukraine

woman in blanket
Why is the country's energy system on the brink of collapse, and what lies in store?

Ukraine could be on the verge of a point of no return. Various estimates suggest that the country has lost from 50% to 80% of its electricity generation capacity, meaning it faces major challenges to adequately prepare for the upcoming winter. Which can be biting in this part of Eastern Europe.

Back in August, Kiev's Energy Minister German Galushchenko warned that this winter would be the toughest yet, due to power outages. Since then, the situation has only worsened. Ukraine suffered one of the most severe strikes on its energy infrastructure, late last month. The ensuing damage led Vladimir Zelensky to dismiss key energy sector officials - namely, Adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine Rostislav Shurma and the CEO of the electricity transmission operator Ukrenergo, Vladimir Kudritskiy.

Ukrainian officials have openly criticized their government over what they claim are inadequate preparations for the winter.

Comment: Zelensky is the (literal) iceberg to Ukraine's Titanic.

Secret Service was informed of Crooks 27 minutes before shots were fired in Butler, PA, never told Trump to get off stage

The US Senate report on the Trump assassination attempt by Thomas Matthew Crooks in Butler, PA on July 13 was released on Wednesday morning and it reveals, as Senator Richard Blumenthal warned it would, shocking security failures by the US Secret Service. That agency knew that Crooks was on the building for 27 minutes ahead of the attempt on Trump's life, which killed one man and injured others.

The report reads:
"At approximately 5:45 pm, USSS personnel were notified that local law enforcement observed a suspicious person with a rangefinder near the AGR building. By 5:52 pm, at least eight USSS personnel had been informed. Approximately two minutes before shots were fired..."
The findings of the report list 12 key points of complete and total failure where Secret Service should have taken action to protect the president and take out the shooter and completely failed to do so, nearly costing the nation a former and perhaps future president and depriving a family of father and husband in the preventable death of Corey Comperatore.

Comment: Sloppy work? Ha! Secret Service has 'other' loyalties and, via neglect, carried it out. In spite of this, 'the end' overcame 'the means'.

Deep state knows it cannot cheat Kamala in - Martin Armstrong

Hartman

Legendary financial and geopolitical cycle analyst Martin Armstrong predicted less than a month ago that there would be another assassination attempt on Donald Trump's life, and the Deep State was going to do everything possible to start a war with Russia. He was right on both counts. All the chaos, debate fraud and push for World War III comes down to the Deep State knows it cannot cheat enough to put Kamala Harris into the White House in November. Forget the phony polls where they all say Kamala is running neck and neck with Trump. Armstrong says his "Socratees" computer program shows Kamala's real approval rating is around 10%, and all his computer models say Kamala is going to lose big in November no matter how much they cheat. Armstrong says:
"Just about everybody in politics looks at Socratees now because its track record on politics has been phenomenal for 30 years. They know what is going on."
So, is the Biden Administration panicking with this second clumsy attempt to assassinate Trump while playing golf? Is our own government trying to kill Trump because they know they cannot win?

Comment: Hunter offers fair observations, given what we know and reasonably suspect.

Gold price soars to all-time high

The price of gold reached an all-time high on Friday, soaring above $2,600 per ounce as global investors continue to seek safe-haven assets.

Spot gold prices rose 1.13% to a record high of $2,609.8 per ounce before pairing some gains. Prices were up roughly 4% for the week and 23% so far this year, exceeding the 13% advance registered for all of 2023.

Gold has rallied after reports last week that the US Federal Reserve might be ready to lower rates by 50 basis points next week from the current 5.25% to 5.50%, the highest level since 2001. Lower borrowing costs increase the appeal of non-yielding gold.

Analysts attribute the rally to investor demand for safe-haven assets amid global uncertainty and rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and Eastern Europe.

Biden says staff doesn't let him call young girls on stage at events, but 'I'm going to do it anyway'

WASHINGTON — That's Joe awkward.

President Biden said Monday that his White House aides have told him he "can't" do things "that I want to do," but that he would "do it anyway" — before asking young girls to join him on stage at an event honoring Gotham FC.

Biden, 81, shook hands with several elementary- and middle school-age children on stage in the East Room after making the stunning admission at an event honoring the 2023 National Women's Soccer League champions.

"You know, I thought when I got to be president, I'd get to do things that I want to do. But my staff tells me what I can't do," Biden said after walking into the event holding hands with star player Ali Krieger, 40.

"But I'm going to do it anyway," he added. "All the young women, young kids out there — that are out there, come on up and do this one. Stand behind me, would do. Just come on."

A long moment later, Biden added, "and the guys."

Comment: It's obvious why his staff wouldn't want him on stage with a bunch of children.

Harris makes gun joke in front of school shooting victim

US presidential candidate Kamala Harris confirmed that she owns a gun during an interview with Oprah Winfrey, and joked about using the weapon to shoot intruders in her home.

The comments were made in front of Natalie Griffith, a 15-year-old who was injured in a shooting at Apalachee High School on September 4. Natalie was in class when she was shot twice and appeared at Harris' rally still in a cast.

While gun ownership in America is common, the timing of Harris' remarks was bizarre - coming minutes after she listened to a first-person account of a recent high-school shooting.

Her 'Unite for America' rally in Michigan, which was hosted by Winfrey, boasted a number of celebrity attendees, including Hollywood stars Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep.

Natalie and her mother were given the chance to speak about their experience, and their emotional account left some of the audience in tears. Marilda called on the "people in power" in Washington to "make a change," apparently referring to US gun control.

Comment: What an insensitive ass.

Ukraine has 'problems' with its Nazi past - Polish president

Ukrainians served in Waffen SS units and were complicit in the Holocaust during WWII, Andrzej Duda has recalled.

Ukraine has "problems" with its history, Polish President Andrzej Duda has said, highlighting Kiev's collaboration with Nazi Germany and its involvement in the Holocaust during World War II.

In an interview with Polsat News on Monday, the Polish leader pointed to "difficult topics" between Warsaw and Kiev, especially the Volyn massacre - the mass killing of ethnic Poles by Ukrainian nationalists during World War II.
"Please remember that Ukrainians have many problems with their history. This is not only the problem of the Volyn massacre, but also service in SS units, collaboration with the authorities of the Third Reich, and participation in the Holocaust," Duda said.

Secret Service denied at least 9 requests to enhance Trump's security before first assassination attempt

A Senate Homeland Security Committee report released Wednesday shows that the U.S. Secret Service denied at least nine requests to increase former President Donald Trump's security leading up to the assassination attempt on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Although the additionally requested resources would have been helpful, the assets were denied "at times without explanation," according to the report. As a result, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks nearly assassinated the former president when he fired shots at Trump from a rooftop positioned just 130 yards from the rally stage, killing an attendee and injuring others.

"The USSS C-UAS operator told the Committee he requested additional C-UAS equipment and personnel in the days before the rally," the report reads. "However, these 9 requests were denied, at times without explanation."

Bibi closer to getting his war: IDF hints at ground invasion as Biden admin pushes new Lebanon ceasefire plan

Update(1515ET):

The Pentagon has sought to make clear in an afternoon press statement that the US military is not providing intelligence for Israel's operations against Lebanese Hezbollah. The Pentagon also claimed the Biden administration is currently making a "full-court" press to find a diplomatic solution to the crisis. The statement further asserted that from the US vantage point, an Israeli military invasion of south Lebanon does not look 'imminent'.

Still, the head of Israel's military, as well as Israeli media and other officials, have continued to sound strong warnings that a ground invasion is possible, and might even begin at any moment.

Lebanese news site LBCI is currently claiming that urgent US-led ceasefire talks are happening, and that they've already resulted in "significant progress" and have reached "a serious and advanced stage." The outlet expressed hope for the announcement of a major breakthrough by tomorrow morning.
