A large delegation of African leaders traveled to Moscow to promote their peace plan for Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin hosted a delegation of African leaders in St. Petersburg on Saturday. The group traveled to Russia a day after visiting Ukraine and meeting President Vladimir Zelensky, promoting their 10-point peace roadmap designed to end the conflict between Kiev and Moscow, now well into its second year.

The African delegation comprised South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Senegalese President Macky Sall, Comoros President Othman Ghazali, Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, and senior officials from the Republic of Congo and Uganda.

Counteroffensive disaster: Russian MOD says Ukraine sustains massive single-day losses

Kiev's forces have lost over 1,000 soldiers and 20 tanks in a single day across the frontlines, the Russian Defense Ministry claims

Ukrainian military forces have sustained heavy casualties across the frontlines during the last 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry has said. Russia's Zaporozhye and Donetsk regions have seen the most intense fighting, with Kiev losing more than 800 soldiers in those regions.

"Over the past day, enemy losses in the Southern Donetsk and Zaporozhye directions amounted to more than 800 Ukrainian servicemen, 20 tanks, four infantry fighting vehicles, [and] 15 armored fighting vehicles," the military stated on Sunday during a daily media briefing. The ministry did not elaborate on whether its figures for casualties includes those killed and injured or fatalities exclusively.

Comment: The frontline grunts in Ukraine perceive the situation accurately. From the Gateway Pundit:
Ukrainian Crews Are Faking Tank Breakdowns To Escape From Frontline Combat

Every few months, in the war in the Ukraine, the hopes of Ukrainians and their Western handlers are kindled with the imminent arrival of some miracle weapon (Wunderwaffe), that is to pave the way to a decisive victory against the Russian forces.

It was like that with Turkish UAV's Bayraktars, with American Javelins and HIMARS. Needless to say, so far none of these technologies made a positive difference in the battlefield.

Worse, it now surfaces that some Ukrainian tank crews engaged in the counteroffensive are reportedly faking combat vehicle breakdowns to escape from confronting the Russian army.

Der Spiegel (Via Eurasian Times):
"The report quoted a 22-year-old loader, using the call sign Gudzik, as saying that some soldiers refuse to participate in the war, and some simulate tank damage to avoid engaging in battle.

Spiegel report says that the three Leopard 2 crew members interviewed by the publication do not condemn the soldiers who refuse to participate in the war, as they understand the risks involved, acknowledging that if a Russian shell were to hit the turret of a combat vehicle, 'then you [Tank operator] will become a pile of ashes'."
During the attack, Ukrainian forces - who were trained for 45 days on the operation of the Leopards - face heavily mined fields by the Russian defenders, which are a significant threat to the attacking tanks with no air cover.
"[Der Spiegel] quoted the gunner 'Misha' as stating that the adversaries they are facing are not inexperienced fighters. 'It's not newcomers who are fighting on the other side. They would have fled if Leopard had fired at them. But these bastards are strong', Misha added."
As images of destroyed Leopards and Bradleys go around the world, there are already efforts on the way to send more German tanks to the slaughter. And not the new version of Leopards, either, but the first Leopards, with a square turret and a comparatively weak 105 mm cannon.

Riafan reported:
"The head of the German defense concern Rheinmetall AG, Armin Papperger, said that his company would not be able to deliver the Leopard tanks promised to Ukraine within the promised time. There are tanks, but they are in not very good condition, dismantled, rusted in some places and are in great need of repair. And this is a very complex business, requiring time, and most importantly - money.

[...] But something tells me that the reason is different. Armin Papperger fears for the reputation of his concern as a manufacturer of great weapons. Because the first photos and videos of burning Leopards, or even abandoned ones with broken tracks and running engines, are not good advertising for the concern. This is anti-advertising. The worst thing imaginable.

All sorts of German media, which praised the Leopard tanks in every way, played a bad service for the concern, presented them as an invincible weapon, from the mere sight of which the Russians would start to run away."
With the failing counteroffensive, commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are throwing soldiers unaccompanied of any armored cover, and the staggering human losses are mounting.

So, it is hardly surprising that reports are incoming of desertions and mutinies among the Ukrainian troops.

It has also surfaced that Russian soldiers are 'Leopard-mad' for bonuses that they are paid for destroyed Leopard tanks, so it has become very dangerous to be a Leopard crewman.

Simplicius the Thinker:
"No confirmation so take it with a grain of salt, but another report is even wilder:

"... my brother was calling, a tanker on a Leopard. We are trying, he says, to break tanks. Sand is poured into the filter, it is driven backwards into the mine, and so on.

[...] 'Muscovites have gone crazy , they only see the leopards - they make fun of what they can. Arta(artillery), hails(Grad), lancets, drones. They only shoot a Leopard . T-62, T-80 are almost not touched . That's why guys don't want to ride them. On a leopard - a suicide bomber without options. They say that Muscovites have some kind of stupid money for leopards, they get into fights over who took the leopard. Therefore - well, fuck him, it's better to break it yourself...'."
Entire groups are surrendering rather than face the Russian artillery onslaught:

Traitor to the Constitution: The U.S. Government is the Real Criminal

Traitor
© agovernmentofwolves.com
"The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out for himself, without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane and intolerable." — H.L. Mencken
And so it continues.

This entire fiasco — indicting Donald Trump for allegedly violating both the Espionage Act and obstructing justice by improperly handling classified records — is merely the latest in a never-ending series of distractions, distortions, and political theater aimed at diverting the public's attention from the sinister advances of the American Deep State.

Don't allow yourselves to be distracted, diverted or mesmerized by the cheap theater tricks.

This indictment spectacle is Shakespearean in its scope: full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Nothing is the key word here.

Despite the wall-to-wall media coverage, this is all just smoke and mirrors.

Mark my words: the government is as corrupt and self-serving as ever, dominated by two political factions that pretend to be at odds with each other all the while moving in lockstep to maintain the status quo.

If you really want to talk about who's guilty of treason, set your sights higher: indict the government for overstepping its authority, abusing its power, disregarding the rule of law, and betraying the American people.

When we refer to the "rule of law," that's constitutional shorthand for the idea that everyone is treated the same under the law, everyone is held equally accountable to abiding by the law, and no one is given a free pass based on their politics, their connections, their wealth, their status or any other bright line test used to confer special treatment on the elite.

When the government and its agents no longer respect the rule of law — the Constitution — or believe that it applies to them, then the very contract on which this relationship is based becomes invalid.

This abuse of power has been going on for so long that it has become the norm, the Constitution be damned.

There are hundreds — make that thousands — of government bureaucrats who are getting away with murder (in many cases, literally) simply because the legislatures, courts and the citizenry can't be bothered to make them play by the rules of the Constitution.

Unless something changes in the way we deal with these ongoing, egregious abuses of power, the predators of the police state will continue to wreak havoc on our freedoms, our communities, and our lives.

For too long now, the American people have played politics with their principles and turned a blind eye to all manner of wrongdoing when it was politically expedient, allowing the government to wreak havoc with their freedoms and act in violation of the rule of law.

"We the people" are paying the price for it now.

Make a choice between 'dialogue and confrontation', China tells US

Blinken Wang Yi

China's top diplomat Wang Yi has warned US Secretary of State Antony Blinken that Washington must choose between "dialogue and confrontation" in its relations with Beijing, further reiterating that Taiwan meddling remains a red line for China.

"It is necessary to make a choice between dialogue and confrontation, cooperation or conflict," said Wang, who as the director of the office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission in the Chinese Communist Party ranks above the foreign minister, during a 3-hour meeting with Blinken on Monday as quoted in local media outlets.

"We must reverse the downward spiral of China-US relations, push for a return to a healthy and stable track, and work together to find a correct way for China and the United States to get along," he added.

House Oversight Chairman says there is evidence of $20-$30 million of illegal payments to Bidens

biden bribes
House Oversight Chairman James Comer revealed Thursday that he expects there is evidence of at least $20-$30 million being made in illegal payments by foreign nationals to the Biden family.

Appearing on Fox Business, Comer stated "We have more bank records coming in but we're gonna exceed $10 million this week but I think we'll get up to $20-$30 million."

He further noted that it is becoming clear that the Bidens potentially engaged in bribery, influence peddling, and money laundering.

"This is going to be hard for Biden to explain, this is not going to go away, and I think eventually the mainstream media is going to start asking the real questions," Comer added.

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has said it intercepted a Ukrainian plot to stage terrorist attacks against the leadership of Russia's newly incorporated Zaporozhye Region.

"During an operational game, an attempt by Ukrainian military's Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) to commit a series of sabotage and terrorist acts against the heads of the military-civilian administration of Zaporozhye Region and law enforcement officers... was thwarted," the FSB said in a statement on Monday.

'Operational game' is a term used by the Russian security services to describe activities which employ double agents and disinformation, in order to make the opponent behave in the desired manner.

Russian nukes will remain in Belarus indefinitely - senior diplomat

The agreement between Moscow and Minsk to deploy tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus does not imply any time limits, a Russian Foreign Ministry official has said. The first batch of nuclear warheads had already arrived in Belarus last week.

Speaking to media on Monday, Alexei Polishchuk, who serves as the director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's second department of CIS countries, explained that Moscow's decision to proceed with the placement of its nuclear weapons in Belarus came as a "forced response" to the aggressive policies of the US and NATO.

He noted that when the details of the Moscow-Minsk agreement were being ironed out, the two sides considered the "years-long destructive practices" of joint nuclear missions of NATO member states.

The Taliban's successful opium ban is bad for Afghans and the world sez the US

Afghan farmer harvesting opium poppies
© Bryan Denton/The New York TimesAfghan farmers harvest poppies in Helmand Province in Afghanistan, April 16, 2015. The Taliban banned cultivating opium poppy in April 2022, which will have far-reaching negative consequences for Afghans.
The ban is not a counter-narcotics victory and will have negative economic and humanitarian consequences, potentially leading to a refugee crisis.

The Taliban have done it again: implementing a nearly complete ban against cultivation of opium poppy — Afghanistan's most important agricultural product — repeating their similarly successful 2000-2001 prohibition on the crop. But the temptation to view the current ban in an overly positive light — as an important global counter-narcotics victory — must be avoided. This is particularly true given the state of Afghanistan's economy and the country's humanitarian situation. Indeed, the ban imposes huge economic and humanitarian costs on Afghans and it is likely to further stimulate an outflow of refugees. It may even result in internal challenges for the Taliban itself. And, in the long run, it will not have lasting counter-narcotics benefits within Afghanistan or globally.

Phasing out Afghanistan's problematic drug economy will be essential over the longer term — not least to contain widespread addiction within the country. But this ban, lacking any development strategy and especially at a time when the economy is so weak that displaced opium poppy farmers and workers have no viable alternative sources of income, is not the right way to start on that path.

Comment: Amazing how low the US has sunk. This author is concerned about the effect on the Afghan economy and the humanitarian costs, yet the US was happy to let the Afghan economy and people to suffer hunger and worse by blocking $7 billion of Afghan money stored in the US.
US to split $7 billion STOLEN from Afghanistan's central bank between 9/11 families & aid groups, as Afghans suffer starvation

Comment: What this article makes clear is that the US were never interested in eliminating opium production in Afghanistan despite officially proclaiming to be.

The article was produced by the "United States Institute of Peace", which underneath the logo says, "Making peace possible". One would be inclined to think that it actually is a typo and that it should read "Making war peace profitable".

Wiki says this about the United States Institute of Peace:
The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) is an American federal institution tasked with promoting conflict resolution and prevention worldwide. It provides research, analysis, and training to individuals in diplomacy, mediation, and other peace-building measures.
[...]
The institute is governed by a bipartisan board of directors with 15 members, which must include the secretary of defense, the secretary of state, and the president of the National Defense University. The remaining 12 members are appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate.
Looking at US diplomacy, mediation and peace-building over the last few decades, one can say that the institution has failed miserably in its assigned tasks.

Regarding opium and the US involvement in the drug production and drug trade in Afghanistan, see these articles from the SOTT archive: The author of the article, William Byrd worked for a long time in the World Bank and also worked in Afghanistan in the heydays of US destruction of that country.
Dr. Byrd had long experience at the World Bank, where most of his work was country-focused, including China, India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. He lived for significant lengths of time in all of these countries and speaks Dari and Chinese, with some knowledge of other languages. During 2002-2006, he was stationed in Kabul, Afghanistan, where he served as the World Bank's country manager for Afghanistan and then as economic adviser.
The above should be kept in mind when in his article, he writes with a 'concerned voice' about human suffering in Afghanistan and it's economy. It is clear that he is only pretending to have a conscience as he was likely one of the key architects of the economic destruction and rape of Afghanistan.

Zelensky demeans African delegation

African Delegation
© Valentyn Ogirenko/ReutersFormer Prime Minister of Uganda Ruhakana Rugunda, Zambia's President Hakainde Hichilema, Senegal's President Macky Sall, President of the Union of Comoros Azali Assoumani, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and Egypt's Prime Minister Mustafa Madbuly visit a site of a mass grave in the town of Bucha outside of Kyiv, Ukraine, June 16, 2023.
Dear Readers:

Today I have this piece by reporter Gevorg Mirzayan. Whom I don't usually read, because he really ticked me off during the "Summer of Riots" in the U.S. Where some of his anti-BLM pieces verged on outright racism and showed that did not understand the American racial/caste system at all. (Not that I'm defending BLM, but some of the stuff he wrote at the time really was racist.) Anyhow, things have changed since then in Russian mainstream thinking. Now black people are the good guys, well at least African-Africans, if not necessarily African-Americans. The real Africans, as Russians have discovered, are pretty nice people overall and don't hate Russia. Thank goodness the Russian Empire never tried to colonize Africa! Modern Russians should thank their stars for this historical fact, because it gives them a clean conscience, and a nice clean slate to work with, while duking it out on the Ukrainian battlefield against the White European hordes.

South African Prez Cyril Ramaphosa
© Awful AvalancheSouth African Prez Cyril Ramaphosa: Tough guy, but nice smile.
This past Friday, as readers probably know, several African nations (including South Africa, Senegal, Zambia, Comoro Islands, and Egypt) sent a delegation of top-level officials to Kiev, and then to St. Petersburg Russia. The agenda was to discuss a 10-point peace plan which these leaders had taken time out of their busy schedule to draft. Why would they bother when they live so far away? Westie propaganda channels like CNN and Sky News say it's because the Africans are greedy for Ukrainian grain. That's just silly and racist. The real reason is because they wanted to at least try to do something to help.

Unfortunately, after putting in all that work and organizing these meetings, these guys had to endure Zelensky's cold and unbearing attitude, as he rejected their plan and all their great ideas without even bothering to read what they wrote.

The delegation was headed by the democratically-elected President of South Africa, Cyrill Ramaphosa. Ramaphosa is a member of a Bantu tribe who went from rags to riches. In his busy career he has worked both sides of the class divide, both as a Trade Union leader as well as a wealthy businessman; which only proves that Marxism is an idea and not a personality. Ramaphosa also serves as the head of the powerful African National Congress and has pretty much gathered all the reins of power into his hands. I should mention that he is widely criticized for his poor handling of the economy. When they came to power, the ANC inherited a first-world nation with all the trimmings. Now you have a country that can't even keep the lights on, according to what I have been reading. Oh well, what can you do. In any case, say what you will about him, Ramaphosa is clearly a very powerful man and important international figure. You would expect that he would be treated with respect wherever he goes.

But no... His delegation were insulted and denigrated even before they arrived in Kiev. Landing in Warsaw, Poland in two planes (one for the leaders, the other for their security detail), the latter was forced to sit on the tarmac for 2 days, and the armed security not allowed to exit the plane. Why did the Poles treat these guys like prisoners? Because the Africans had brought with them 12 containers of weapons, as needed to defend their leaders. But who can blame them? They were about to enter a war zone, after all. They couldn't trust Zelensky further than they could throw him; and for all they knew, they might have to bust their way out of that hellhole in the end.

No, the Poles would not budge: the weapons, security detail and also accompanying journalists were not allowed to continue with the trip. Hence, the African political leaders were forced to continue the rest of their trip (via train to Kiev) without their usual security and weapons. They must have felt like being naked. Fortunately, nothing bad happened to them. However the African press was indignant; accused the Poles of racism; and also noting that the Poles are contemptuous of South Africa (and BRICS countries in general) because of the latter's friendly relations with Russia.

Ukraine ready to pay West in people's organs for military assistance — Russian diplomat

Zakharova
© Alexander Ryumin/TASSRussian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova
Ukraine is ready to trade the organs of its people for Western military assistance, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Thursday.

The diplomat said the Kiev regime is rapidly turning the country into a global hub of human organ trafficking.

"The Kiev regime is ready to pay anything for the military assistance it gets. It's now even come to the human organs of its citizens. A time will probably come when Ukraine will understand the true reason why its pretend US and European friends cared about it. But that won't be soon enough. Still, better later than never," she said.

"They literally took a knife to the country, but it will be too late to complain. The patient has already signed consent for surgery. The relevant international organizations, with an art worthy of a better cause, are ignoring these obvious and criminal phenomena," Zakharova said.

The diplomat said Western countries are the main beneficiaries of illicit transplantation practices in Ukraine.

"The scenario has been rehearsed in Yugoslavia. All organs that were removed from the people, who were killed then, went to cater to the needs of Westerners," she said.
