The U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations has proposed cutting government funding for the World Health Organization (WHO) entirely, as part of its budget proposal for fiscal year 2024.

This proposal was included in the committee's Fiscal Year 2024 State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Bill, released June 22. According to the committee's press release, the proposals are geared toward "cutting spending for low-priority activities and programs."
The bill also includes prohibitions on funding to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the EcoHealth Alliance and gain-of-function research; termination of U.S. government involvement with the World Economic Forum (WEF); and a ban on government "misinformation" and "disinformation" programs.
It's uncertain if any of the proposed cuts will be adopted, as the bill faces a long path through Congress.

Comment: Despite the hodgepodge of comments, The House has the right idea.

Ukraine's defense chief admits Russia is jamming HIMARS rockets

A "constant pendulum" of technological competition swings between Kiev's Western backers and Moscow, Aleksey Reznikov has claimed

Russia has found a way to interfere with GPS-guided artillery rounds, including munitions for US-made HIMARS multiple rocket launchers, Defense Minister of Ukraine Aleksey Reznikov has claimed.

When those systems first arrived on Ukrainian battlefields last year they were "highly accurate," Reznikov recalled, in an interview with the Financial Times on Wednesday.

However, Russia, which has strong radio-electronic systems, eventually found a way to jam GPS-guided artillery and HIMARS projectiles, he acknowledged.

"It's like a constant pendulum. This is a war of technology," the minister said, describing the ongoing conflict between Kiev and Moscow.

Russian military claims it prevented Ukrainian attack on Moscow by shooting down four drones

The Russian military claimed Tuesday that it shot down several Ukrainian drones that were headed for the capital city of Moscow, an attack that also prompted officials to briefly close one of the city's airports.

The Russian Defense Ministry said air defenses on the outskirts of Moscow shot down four of five drones heading toward the capital, adding that the fifth was jammed by electronic means. Ukrainian authorities, who usually do not comment on attacks inside Russia's proper territory, have not claimed responsibility.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said no one was harmed in the attack and no buildings were damaged.

Authorities temporarily restricted flights at Moscow's Vnukovo airport and diverted flights to other Moscow airports as a precaution. The restrictions were lifted after the drones no longer posed a threat.

Comment: Russia accuses the U.S. of providing intelligence to facilitate the attack:
Russia claims its air defenses fended off an attack on the nation's capital by five Ukrainian drones on Tuesday. Officials now claim the attack would not have been possible for Ukraine without assistance from Western allies.

"These attacks would not be possible without the help provided to the Kyiv regime by the US and its NATO allies," the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement, according to the Agence France-Presse.

The ministry went on to say the West is "training drone operators and providing the necessary intelligence to commit such crimes."

Western media prepping nuclear false flag... and thermonuclear war

Blast
© News Forensics / Substack
Western media are conditioning the public for a false-flag attack on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (ZNPP) to blame Russia. That would then provide the United States and NATO a pretext to directly intervene in their proxy war to support the Kiev regime.

The Kiev regime's month-old counteroffensive is failing miserably to push back Russian defense lines. Indeed, if anything, it seems that Russian forces are turning the tables to gain more territory in eastern Ukraine. The military situation is becoming a fiasco for the NATO-backed regime in Kiev.

Months of much-hyped counteroffensive are delivering nothing but defeat for the Ukrainian forces despite massive supplies of weapons from the U.S. and its NATO allies. Western governments and media can barely hide the reality that NATO's proxy war in Ukraine against Russia is turning into a historic debacle. How long can the charade continue before the American and European public demand answers and accountability?

With a major NATO summit due to take place next week in Latvia on July 11-12, the battlefield disaster for the alliance's Kiev proxy will be potentially an acute embarrassment. There will be severe political repercussions for Washington and the European Union which has funneled close to $200 billion in military support to the Kiev regime since the conflict erupted in February last year.

Blowing up the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant is one way of dramatically shifting the narrative - albeit an act of criminal desperation. The power station is Europe's largest civilian nuclear installation. The radioactive fallout from a fatal missile strike on the ZNPP would engulf large swathes of Europe, including Russia, with potentially deadly contamination.

Russian forces took over the ZNPP last March, days after launching their special military operation in Ukraine on February 24. Since then, the power station has been routinely fired on by the Kiev regime using U.S. and NATO-supplied rockets. Moscow has presented categorical evidence of NATO missile fragments recovered from air strikes on the plant's cooling ponds. The UN nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, has visited the ZNPP multiple times and will surely know from where the missiles are being fired, yet the IAEA is conspicuously reluctant to publicly identify the perpetrators. It confines itself to making vague statements expressing concern about security and public safety.

The Western media have shamelessly spun the Kiev regime's narrative claiming that the ZNPP is being shelled by Russian forces despite the absurdity of such claims given that the Russian military controls the nuclear plant.

What China's new foreign relations law means

Qin Gang
© THOMAS PETER / POOL / AFPChina's Foreign Minister Qin Gang
China has recently passed a new "foreign relations law." The law, which references "an opposition to hegemony and power politics" is a codification of Beijing's foreign policy goals and its mechanisms of reacting to Western-imposed sanctions and attempts to contain it. But what exactly does this law mean? And what are the consequences for the US-China standoff?

The centralization of China's foreign policy

As the geopolitical climate has shifted, China's foreign policy-making has been significantly centralized in response to growing insecurity and uncertainty triggered by efforts to contain it by the United States, which has attempted to challenge the onus of the country's development and foreign relations. Under Xi Jinping, this has led to a reassertion of the role of the Party as the political core of the state, bringing an end to years of decentralization in which the West hoped for an ideological transformation.

Hunter Biden prosecutor who engineered 'sweetheart' tax deal previously worked alongside first son's business partner

hunter Biden
Hunter Biden last week reached a deal with prosecutors that would see him plead guilty to tax crimes and dispense with a gun charge but likely avoid jail time
'This calls into question the integrity of their investigation.' according to Sen. Ron Johnson

A prosecutor who signed off on the documents charging Hunter Biden with tax and gun crimes previously worked with one of the First Son's business partners, DailyMail.com can reveal.

Delaware US Attorney David Weiss officially filed charges against the president's son last Tuesday after a near five-year probe into his alleged tax crimes and foreign financial dealings.

Weiss's deputy, Assistant United States Attorney Derek Hines, signed off on the charging documents alongside his boss and two other assistant US attorneys - indicating he has a central role in Hunter's criminal prosecution.

According to Hines's LinkedIn account, he previously worked as Special Counsel to ex-FBI director Louis Freeh at his private company, Freeh Group International Solutions, a lobbying and 'risk management' consultancy that teamed up with Hunter on overseas business currently under scrutiny by lawmakers.

Comment: The New York Post comments:
The relationship [between Biden and Freeh] raises questions about Hines' impartiality. Justice Department rules state that he should be prohibited "from participating in a criminal investigation or prosecution if he has a personal or political relationship with any person or organization substantially involved in the conduct that is the subject of the investigation or prosecution, or any person or organization which he knows has a specific and substantial interest that would be directly affected by the outcome of the investigation or prosecution."

"The Justice Department seems to be bending the law to benefit the Bidens," Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) told The Post.
"Whistleblower testimony revealed the DOJ refused to follow certain evidence, tipped off Hunter's attorneys, and set the President's son up for a sweetheart plea deal. It's clear that politicization and misconduct at the DOJ and IRS during the investigation into Hunter Biden reveal a two-tiered system of justice and unequal application of the law. The House Oversight Committee will continue to conduct rigorous oversight of the Biden family's web of business schemes and hold bad actors accountable."

Hungary threatens to block all EU military aid to Ukraine

Hungary will not agree to any further EU financing of arms shipments to Ukraine unless Kiev removes the nation's largest lender from its list of "sponsors of war," Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto told a press conference on Tuesday. The minister blasted Ukraine for putting Hungary's OTP bank on what he called a "list of shame," calling the move "outrageous" and "unacceptable."

"Our position is clear: until OTP [bank] is removed from this list, Hungary will not greenlight any additional EU funding for weapon shipments to Ukraine," the minister said. The decision will cover not just the €500 million ($546 million) tranche of arms Budapest vetoed earlier, but any further military assistance as well, he warned.

"It will be better if they [the EU] do not come up with any proposals to finance further arms deliveries," Szijjarto said.

Budapest is "doing everything to help the Ukrainian people," and Hungarians "are paying the price of a war they have nothing to do with," Szijjarto said following a meeting of the Hungarian-Jordanian joint economic committee. The official also called Kiev's attitude toward Hungary puzzling. "We really sometimes have a feeling that they [the Ukrainians] are making fun of us," he said.

Comment: It's not without irony that Hungary will only become a sponsor of war if Kiev removes it from its list of "sponsors of war".

Jenin Invasion Day 2: Israeli forces attack hospitals

israel tear gas attack jenin IDF
© Ronaldo Schemidt/AFP via Getty ImagesIsraeli forces fired tear gas inside of a hospital in the West Bank city of Jenin on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, that injured 125 people as a two-day raid on the city continued, Doctors Without Borders said.
More than 36 hours after it began, Israeli troops are still besieging the camp and have reportedly attacked nearby hospitals.

Palestinians in the Jenin refugee camp entered their second day of Israeli invasion on Tuesday, July 4. More than 36 hours after the invasion began, Israeli troops are still besieging the camp, enforcing closures on entrances and exits around the refugee camp, which lies in the heart of Jenin city in the northern West Bank.

According to local sources, at around 7:40 pm local time (5:40 pm GMT) Israeli forces attacked the area around the Ibn Sina hospital near the camp, where a number of injured Palestinians are being treated, and where locals from the camp have evacuated. Video footage showed Israeli military trucks entering the vicinity of the hospital, while the Ministry of Health said that troops stormed the hospital.

Comment:

Once again, the U.S. gives Israel its unqualified support. From Al Jazeera:
The United States' unwavering support for Israel has enabled and emboldened the right-wing Israeli government's escalating violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, analysts say.

As Israeli forces targeted the densely populated Jenin refugee camp with air attacks and ground raids involving hundreds of troops on Monday, the White House again underscored what it called Israel's "right to defend" itself.

"We support Israel's security and right to defend its people against Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and other terrorist groups," the White House National Security Council said in a brief statement.

Experts say that response reflects US President Joe Biden's unwillingness to rein in his country's top ally in the Middle East despite a pledge to centre human rights in US foreign policy - and as concerns around the scale of the Israeli attack in Jenin are mounting.

"I think we will continue to see - as has happened in the past - the US administration run cover for the Israelis and let them get away with doing whatever they want," Daniel Levy, president of the US/Middle East Project think tank, told Al Jazeera in a television interview on Monday.

The Biden administration doesn't want the situation in the West Bank to blow up, but it won't risk its relationship with Israel, Levy said. "And that's why in particular things have gotten so bad."

[...]

Tariq Kenney-Shawa, a US policy fellow at Palestinian think tank Al-Shabaka, said the US policy on the conflict keeps getting worse.

"The Biden administration has leaned into its role as a complicit enabler of the Israeli occupation to the point it has all but abandoned even symbolic talking points of 'supporting a two-state solution'; or calls for calm," Kenney-Shawa told Al Jazeera in an email.

"The US has shown, implicitly and explicitly, that it fully endorses Israel's actions no matter the consequences and that it holds Israel on a pedestal that exempts it from the same human rights norms and international standards that Washington holds the rest of the world to."

Why the US should stop sending money to Zelensky

Zel/Money

If the truth be told, we are getting sick and tired of the little piss-ant who runs the cease-pool of corruption, tyranny, delusion and death called Ukraine. This clown — and that's what he is actually trained as — just can't seem to stop stridently demanding money, arms and support from the rest of the world and lecturing everyone to fall into line or else.

In his actual clown days, of course, Volodymyr Zelensky was known for the act depicted below. But when it comes to the collective West, the latter seems to enjoy the fact that the Ukrainian president continues to bang away upon it, relentlessly pounding out a melody of me, me and more.

But lately Zelensky has really gone over the top, peddling the hideous canard that if we don't enable him to fight "them" over there with everything and all that he demands by way of money and weapons, we will soon bleed and die against "them" over here.
