The US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit on Monday released a redacted version of the hitherto secret Obama administration memo arguing for the legality of presidential assassinations, without charges or trial, of US citizens. The 47-page memo, dating from July 2010, was drafted and signed by then head of the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel, David Barron, and addressed to Attorney General Eric Holder.

The memo constitutes prima facie evidence of crimes against international law, the US Constitution, and the democratic rights of the American people. It could serve as a key exhibit in impeachment proceedings and criminal prosecutions against high-level American officials, beginning with President Barack Obama, Attorney General Holder, US intelligence and military leaders and the author of the memo, Barron.

The document is a travesty of legal and constitutional analysis. It begins with the desired aim - to justify the negation of the Bill of Rights' guarantee of "due process" and sanction the arrogation of quasidictatorial powers by the executive branch - and employs a grab bag of sophistic and cynical arguments to arrive at the desired conclusion.

In the wake of a Bundy Ranch crisis sparked by a militarized federal land-grab effort in Nevada, it seems that the Department of Interior has set its sights on a new prize - this time targeting once protected Indian reservation land on Pine Ridge in South Dakota.

The Oglala Sioux and Lakota Sioux of the reservation have been told by the Federal Government that the National Parks Service will be taking land that comprises the South Unit of the Badlands National Park as a new 'Tribal National Park', only the wording in the bill clearly indicates that it will be a federally managed national park under the Department of Interior, giving mere lip service to its tribal title.

The Congressional bill has already been written, and if passed through Congress, both tribal members and non tribal members will be stripped of their deeded land - at a price set by the federal government. If owners do not accept Washington's offer (expected to be a meager one), the land can be acquired at no cost because the measure has waived all appraisal rights and stipulates that Washington can simply take Indian land by force under 'eminent domain'.

Thousands of tribe members will be affected by the land-grab. Some residents will be forced to relocate, and many more others will lose their income from grazing allotments on the land - a result which will ultimately force any remaining independent cattle ranchers out of business. In addition to all this, Tribal members will lose their share of income from entrance fees collected at the adjacent North Gate of the Badlands National Park - a punitive measure which will further compound the existing economic depression on a reservation where the average annual income is around $8,000 per year.

Washington may be pining for yet another 'Wounded Knee', as many residents and tribal members are prepared to stand their ground in the face of a federal imperialist policy inside US borders - a trend which many Americans have experienced first-hand, particularly in western states like Utah, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona and California.

Speaker John A. Boehner, R-Ohio, told Republicans Tuesday he could have an announcement within days on whether the House will file a lawsuit against President Barack Obama, challenging the executive actions that have become the keystone of the administration.

The lawsuit could set up a significant test of constitutional checks and balances, with the legislative branch suing the executive branch for ignoring its mandates, and the judiciary branch deciding the outcome.

Boehner told the House Republican Conference during a closed-door meeting Tuesday morning that he has been consulting with legal scholars and plans to unveil his next steps this week or next, according to sources in the room.

Boehner spokesman Michael Steel said further action is necessary because the Senate has not taken up bills passed by the House targeting executive actions. The House has passed a bill expediting court consideration of House resolutions starting lawsuits targeting executive overreach and another mandating that the attorney general notify Congress when the administration decides to take executive action outside of what has been authorized by Congress.

"The president has a clear record of ignoring the American people's elected representatives and exceeding his constitutional authority, which has dangerous implications for both our system of government and our economy," Steel said. "The House has passed legislation to address this, but it has gone nowhere in the Democratic-controlled Senate, so we are examining other options."

Having once had the utter displeasure of being married to a psychopath, I can't help but notice the eerie similarities in current politics...

Now, before you jump to the conclusion that I'm exaggerating, let me just point out that most psychopaths are not the Bates Motel guy. Instead they are very often extremely charming and seemingly sociable. They are experts at making you feel like you found your other half even! The trick is though, that it doesn't really matter to THEM who you really are.

They are just "mirroring" you; playing back what you want to hear. "Playing" you! For a reason. You are just a thing of no real value or importance, used for temporary amusement and for monetary or other gains. Watch what happens to the sweet talker once s/he has no need for you anymore.

Watching TV I see the smug grins, the "word salad" meant to confuse, the nasty selfishness and the constant creepy insistence that up is down, day is night, the sky is yellow and whatever else the attention starved "person" wants to propagate. It's all for the sole purpose of manipulation. They get you off balance so that you'll give up your voice and just let him/her rule.

Don't let it happen! There is way too much at stake here, and I can guarantee that the life intended for us commoners in Psychoville is not what we had in mind.

But why would a psychopath be drawn to politics? Because the limelight feeds their egos, their insatiable need for attention and admiration. They have no interest in bettering anybody's life, or understanding the hows and whys of foreign policy. They're there because the cameras are! And with the cameras come attention and money. That's all. Sorry, but it really isn't any deeper than that.

This article takes a look at some of the not so obvious factors involved in the Detroit water shut-off. Think about predatory capitalism and the Shock Doctrine, for starters.

The city of Detroit has announced that it will be shutting off the water for customers who are $150 or two months behind in paying bills. Half of the customers fit the profile-- over 150,000 people. It's so bad that a collection of groups are appealing to the United Nations for help.

This is worst than bad. It's sick. It is also something we can expect a lot more of, on several fronts.

What we have here is a city run by an un-elected mayor appointed by a right wing governor. This action is a warning for several trends we can expect from rapacious, predator capitalists.

Shock Doctrine-- break down the community, the support structures, break the unions, de-regulate and bring in outside corporations and big-money investors. Naomi Klein described it and it's been done again and again, first in third world countries where the US appointed dictators, now in a major city where a right wing Governor appoints a dictator. There is a predictable Shock Doctrine script which Naomi Klein has described. It looks alot like what's been happening to Detroit.

Privatization of resources-- we've seen this in other nations, where they attempt to privatize the commons, including water. Many are speculating that Detroit is attempting to sell its water operation to a private buyer.

Raising prices so the poor can't afford to live in prime real estate areas. The water rates in Detroit are almost double the average in the rest of the nation.

Creating predatory economies of community destruction: It happened with the housing collapse. After people lost their homes because of derivatives, corporations and the wealthy came in and bought them at bargain prices and turned them into rental properties.

Killing poor people- Let's call a spade a spade. Shutting off utilities can kill people. That's why humane cities offer special arrangements for the poor for heating. They don't shut off the heat.

A Liberal Democratic lawmaker suggests that all companies that use the personal data of Russian citizens are bound by law to store the information in Russia and report the servers' location to the authorities.

MP Vadim Dengin has said in press comments that though his draft only concerns the personal data of Russian citizens, its observation would be obligatory for all websites that process and store such information, including various foreign-based companies, such as social networks, mail servers, sites that sell air tickets and book hotels, etc.

If the bill is passed, all internet companies operating in Russia would have to move their servers to Russia before September 1, 2016. Also, foreign companies, such as Twitter and Facebook, would have to open offices in Russia before this date.

The MP wants new rules to be enforced by the state watchdog body Roskomnadzor, which already oversees the observation of various internet-related acts, such as the Law on Extremism and the "law on bloggers" - the recent bill that orders bloggers who have over 3,000 readers to disclose their names and observe the same rules as conventional mass media. MP Dengin was the main sponsor behind this act.

In addition, it has been suggested that a special register of websites be created that violate the new rules. It will contain the names of companies that refuse to comply with the rules and also domain names and web addresses used by these companies, up to single page URLs. After finding a violation, the state agency will officially order the company to get rid of it and if this is not done, the website would be blocked. This is different from the way Roskomnadzor enforces the anti-extremist law - in this case the offensive page can be taken down straight away, but afterwards the state agency has to either lift the ban within a week or start a court case and prove that it acted lawfully.

Russia's President Vladimir Putin is trying to save the world from war. We should all help him.

Today Putin's presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov reported that President Putin has asked the Russian legislature to repeal the authorization to use force that was granted in order to protect residents of former Russian territories that are currently part of Ukraine from the rabid Russophobic violence that characterizes Washington's stooge government in Kiev.

Washington's neoconservatives are jubilant. They regard Putin's diplomacy as a sign of weakness and fear, and urge stronger steps that will force Russia to give back Crimea and the Black Sea naval base.

Inside Russia, Washington is encouraging its NGO fifth columns to undercut Putin's support with propaganda that Putin is afraid to stand up for Russians and has sold out Ukraine's Russian population. If this propaganda gains traction, Putin will be distracted by street protests. The appearance of Putin's domestic weakness would embolden Washington. Many members of Russia's young professional class are swayed by Washington's propaganda. Essentially, these Russians, brainwashed by US propaganda, are aligned with Washington, not with the Kremlin.

For more than a month Israel sought to wriggle off a hook that should have snared it from the start. Two children, 17 and 16, were shot dead during Nakba Day protests near Ramallah, in which youths threw stones ineffectually at well-protected and distant Israeli military position.

Hundreds of Palestinian children have lost their lives over the years at the end of a sharpshooter's sights, but the deaths of Nadim Nuwara and Mohammed Abu Al Thahir in Beitunia were not easily forgotten. Israel was quickly cornered by an accumulation of physical and visual evidence.

Israel's usual denials - the deaths were faked, video footage was doctored, Israeli soldiers were not responsible, the youths provoked the soldiers, no live ammunition was used - have been discredited one by one. Slowly Israel conceded responsibility, if only by falling into a grudging silence.

A CCTV camera mounted on the outer wall of a carpentry shop provided the most damning evidence: it captured the moments when the two unarmed boys were each hit with a live round, in one case as the youth can be seen walking away from the protest area.

But rather than come to terms with the world as it now is, Israel wants to preserve the way it once was. It believes that through force of will it can keep the tide of accountability at bay in the occupied territories.

There are two major beneficiaries of the two major wars launched by the US government: one domestic and one foreign. The three major domestic arms manufacturers, Lockheed Martin (LMT), Northrop Grumman (NOG) and Raytheon (RTN) have delivered record-shattering returns to their investors, CEOs and investment banks during the past decade and a half. The Israeli regime is the overwhelming foreign beneficiary of the war, expanding its territory through its dispossession of Palestinians and positioning itself as the regional hegemon. Israel benefited from the US invasion which destroyed Iraq, a major ally of the Palestinians; the invasion provided cover for massive Israel's settler expansion in the Occupied Palestinian territories. In the course of its invasion and occupation Washington systematically destroyed Iraq's armed forces and civil infrastructure, shredding its complex modern society and state. By doing so, the US occupation removed one of Israel's major regional rivals.

In terms of cost to the United States, hundreds of thousands of soldiers who had served in the war zones have sustained severe physical and mental injuries, while thousands have died directly or indirectly through an epidemic of soldier suicides. The invasion and occupation of Iraq has cost the United States trillions of dollars and counting. Despite the immense costs to the American people, the military-industrial complex and the pro-Israel power configuration continue to keep the US government on a wartime economy - undermining the domestic social safety net and standard of living of many millions.

"Gold and silver have turned!" I bet you have heard that one before. In fact, I said this almost 12 months ago at the end of last June. Back then we had another 2 day waterfall event which became common events throughout 2013. As it turns out, that event was the (a) "retest" of $1,180 in gold and $18 in silver. I believe that last June really was the bottom in price. We have chopped since then and had a good little rally to start this year off only to be pressured down again...but I believe that things have now changed.

So why did the metals soar on Thursday? Was it because Janet Yellen and the Fed were "dovish" as is commonly thought? Maybe, but haven't they been dovish since 2008? Didn't we have QE's 1, 2 twist and then QE3? Hasn't the Fed, the BOE, BOJ and ECB all flooded the markets with cheap and nearly free currency? Yes they have, but all we have for their efforts is more debt, inflated markets and stagnant economies where it costs the average person more each day to live and survive. Six years after the fact they are still using the word "recovery" when during a normal business cycle we would have had another recession, a second recovery and already be in a 2nd growth phase.
