New York Governor Andrew Cuomo wants to fine people not wearing Covid-19 masks because they could 'literally kill someone'

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has called people who don't wear masks to help stop the spread of the coronavirus "cruel and irresponsible," adding that he supports authorities fining them over it.

Wearing masks in public has been mandatory in New York since mid-April, but enforcement of the measure falls to local governments - and is something Cuomo wants to see happening.

"Do I think local government should be enforcing it? And should there be sanctions? Yes, because it is a public health emergency," Cuomo said at a press conference on Monday when asked about fining citizens for being in public without masks.
"You could literally kill someone because you didn't want to wear a mask. How cruel and irresponsible."

Comment: The Cuomo brothers - one in the governor's mansion, and the other barking on CNN - literally think they run New York now:

Biden is everything the Democrats are: Notes from the edge of the narrative matrix

biden sniffing hair
Joe Biden is not an "imperfect candidate" for the Democrats. He is the perfect candidate, because he's everything the party is: Demented. Decrepit. Bloodthirsty. Corrupt. Cronyistic. Authoritarian. Reactionary. Rapey. He is exactly what they deserve. He is exactly what they are.

Joe Biden is the Democrat's Democrat. He is the perfect representative of the party. They should even take it a step further and replace that donkey with Joe Biden.

Biden is to the Democrats as Trump is to the Republicans. Everyone's just wearing their true face now.

If you're willing to sacrifice all principles, all sanity and all morality to get rid of Trump, what exactly is the point of getting rid of Trump?

Turkish endgame: Annexation of northwestern Syria

It is interesting that the descendants of Ataturk competently use various informational occasions to implement their plans. So, on April 28, a terrible terrorist attack took place on the territory of Afrin occupied by Turkish militants, which claimed the lives of more than 40 civilians. Before the firefighters extinguished the fire from a fuel truck blown up during a terrorist attack, the Turkish government blamed the Kurdish underground.

Ostensibly, the Kurds are thus trying to avenge their expulsion from Afrin. The arguments that the Kurds do not need this and such actions are extremely disadvantageous for them did not convince Turkey. Instead, by the evening of May 1, pro-Turkish militants increased the grouping of more than 250 vehicles with large-caliber weapons installed on them near the borders of Kurdish settlements in northwestern Syria.

It is possible that the attack would be used by Ankara to finally resolve the "Kurdish issue" in the north of the Syrian Arab Republic.

Five nasty things revealed by Democrats' rehabilitation of Bush

Former President George W. Bush, first lady Michelle Obama in 2016
George W Bush is in the news again today, and once again it's not for the only legitimate reason that he should ever be in the news, namely a war crimes tribunal. No, it's because his voice was used in a cutesy feel-good video about unity during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Let us remember how small our differences are in the face of this shared threat," Bush is heard saying. "We are not partisan combatants. We are human beings, equally vulnerable and equally wonderful in the sight of God."

And, needless to say, Democrats are all over social media orgasming in their pants about it.

"This video made me ugly cry," tweeted actress-turned-McResistance pundit Alyssa Milano.

"A REAL president," tweeted the other Alyssa Milano, Debra Messing.

"In a million years I never thought I'd be crying watching this, thinking how much better we'd all feel if Bush were president today," tweeted former Democratic congresswoman Katie Hill to thunderous online applause.

German Social Democrats tell Trump what he can do with his US nukes

Berlin's center left is reopening an old debate about whether to remain under Washington's protective nuclear umbrella. Just days before Germany is set to celebrate the anniversary of its "liberation" from Nazi rule, leading members of the governing Social Democrats are demanding that the country be freed from what they consider another scourge — American nuclear weapons.

"Nuclear weapons on German territory do not heighten our security, just the opposite," Rolf Mützenich, the leader of the Social Democrats (SPD) in the German parliament said in an interview with newspaper Tagesspiegel published on Sunday. "The time has come for Germany to rule out a future stationing."

Though not everyone in the SPD's top ranks shares his views, Mützenich quickly won backing from co-SPD leader Saskia Esken.
"Whoever thinks that glasnost and perestroika were made possible by the West's nuclear deterrent missed something. Atomic weaponry on German soil, on German airplanes, is neither an end to itself nor desirable, not to mention very expensive."

Pompeo has it both ways: Coronavirus was 'man made' but agrees with intelligence it wasn't

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo
In his rush to accuse Beijing of unleashing the scourge of Covid-19 on an unsuspecting world, the US Secretary of State said the coronavirus was man-made, before making a U-turn without even blinking.

"The best experts so far seem to think it was man-made. I don't have reason to disbelieve them at this point," Mike Pompeo told ABC's This Week when asked about a statement from the US intelligence community that unequivocally said the opposite.

Host Martha Raddatz twice asked Pompeo to clarify whether his view differed from that of American intelligence, and he voiced his total support for the spies - though he stopped short of actually saying "I don't believe the virus was man-made."

Pompeo used his airtime to once again accuse China of covering up the severity of Covid-19 in the early days of the outbreak.
"The Chinese Communist Party had the opportunity to prevent all the calamity that has befallen the world. The Australians agree with that, you hear that the Europeans are beginning to say the same thing. I think the whole world is united [in its] understanding that China brought this virus to the world."

Upside to Covid-19? Merkel may get a fifth term as the crisis boosts her popularity

German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer • Chancellor Angela Merkel
The Covid-19 crisis has surprisingly turned out to be a boon for German Chancellor Angela Merkel as she regained public support. Now, Interior Minister Horst Seehofer believes a fifth term in office might not be ruled out.

Successful handling of the novel coronavirus pandemic which has allowed Germany to start the process of gradually easing quarantine rules which have been crippling its economy for quite some time has apparently boosted Merkel's image among her fellow party members and political allies.

Interior Minister Horst Seehofer, who has had quite a thorny relationship with the chancellor over the last couple of years, has now floated the idea of her staying at the helm for another term. The man, who once said he "cannot work with this woman" anymore and refused to shake hands with her amid the coronavirus scare just a couple of months ago, has now given generous praise to her "strong" leadership during the epidemic.

The minister lauded "excellent teamwork" within the cabinet and cooperation of the federal and regional authorities, attributing all this to Merkel's "strategic leadership."

Comment: Given the global grasp for an anchor and safety net, is the Merkel advocacy a true boost or the public's port in the storm?

UN to Israel: Annexation plans are 'entirely unacceptable'!

Michael Lynk, UN special rapporteur
An independent UN human rights expert warned Friday that the new Israeli coalition government's plan to proceed with annexing significant parts of the occupied West Bank, will be a blow to the international order and undermine prospects for a negotiated settlement.

According to Michael Lynk, the UN special rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian Territory occupied since 1967:
"Israel's decision to unilaterally march ahead with the planned annexation on July 1 undermines human rights in the region, and would be a severe body blow to the rules-based international order."
Lynk expressed alarm that Israel's annexation plans are being supported and facilitated by the United States.

If the annexation plans proceed, what would be left of the West Bank would become a "Palestinian Bantustan", an archipelago of disconnected islands of territory, surrounded and divided up by Israel with no connection to the outside world, the special rapporteur said.

Comment: The UN will never be the hammer to the nail it seeks to pound without the ability to enforce international law.
The Special Rapporteur is an independent expert appointed by the United Nations Human Rights Council to follow and report on the human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Special Rapporteurs are not United Nations staff members; they do not receive a salary from the United Nations, and do not work for any government or interest group, allowing them to maintain their independence. The mandate of the Special Rapporteur derives from the 1993 resolution from the Committee of Human Rights. The mandate calls on the Special Rapporteur:

(a) To investigate Israel's violations of the principles and bases of international law, international humanitarian law and the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, of 12 August 1949, in the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel since 1967;

(b) To receive communications, to hear witnesses, and to use such modalities of procedure as he may deem necessary for his mandate;

(c) To report, with his conclusions and recommendations, to the Commission on Human Rights at its future sessions, until the end of the Israeli occupation of those territories.

Pompeo's anti-China bluff strategy reveals all-or-nothing mentality to fool US voters

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo
During an interview on Sunday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said there was "enormous evidence" the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) originated in a laboratory in Wuhan, China. "Remember, China has a history of infecting the world, and they have a history of running substandard laboratories," Pompeo explained. Once again, the US diplomat and former CIA director has stunned the world with groundless accusations.

Since Pompeo said his claims are supported by "enormous evidence," then he should present this so-called evidence to the world, and especially to the American public who he continually tries to fool. The truth is that Pompeo does not have any evidence, and during Sunday's interview, he was bluffing.

Comment: To be fair to Trump he is working in a den of vipers and he's doing the best he can under the circumstances. As for the coronavirus, it's now clear it's not the deadly virus world governments hyped it up to be, and so by opening up the economy Trump is doing right by Americans:

Conor Burns was found by the standards committee to have tried to intimidate a member of the public while attempting to intervene in his father's dispute over a loan.
A close ally of Boris Johnson has resigned as a trade minister after being found to have used his position to try to intimidate a member of the public.

Conor Burns, the minister of state for trade policy, was found by the standards committee to have made veiled threats while attempting to intervene in his father's dispute over a loan.

A Downing Street spokesman said Burns had resigned following a report from the parliamentary commissioner for standards.
