Pope Francis makes plea for peace

Pope Francis made an emotional plea for peace on Sunday in an impromptu addition to comments delivered at his weekly Angelus address in Saint Peter's Square.

As the Argentinian-born pontiff wrapped up his regular address to the faithful, he spoke of the upcoming centenary of the outbreak of World War One and said his thoughts were on the Middle East, Iraq and Ukraine in particular.

With his voice appearing to crack with emotion, the pope broke off from his scripted remarks to make a direct appeal for fighting to end.

"Please stop!, I ask you with all my heart, it's time to stop. Stop, please!"

Missing Guns: SIGAR Inspectors Worried about 747k Missing Weapons

Information on nearly three-quarters of a million guns purchased by the US for the Afghan National Security Forces is either missing or duplicated, an audit of SIGAR inspectors revealed, sparking fears they could have ended up in Taliban hands.

Both the US and Afghan authorities have failed to keep track of 747,000 weapons purchased for the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), the latest report from the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) reported on Monday.

Now the US watchdog is expressing fear that at least some of these weapons could find their way into the hands of Taliban insurgents, to be used to kill ISAF and Afghan troops.

Comment:

Yeah, looks like we now know how "terrorists" in the middle east have been getting ahold of weapons. And by Terrorists we mean western backed, trained, and supplied "Proxy Armies". And by Proxy Armies we mean a psychopathic posse of mentally ill desperados and soldiers of fortune. Typical.

Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal demanded Israel lift its blockade of Gaza and warned that Palestinians cannot coexist with their neighbors while their land is occupied, in an interview broadcast Sunday.

On Saturday, Meshaal was interviewed by US broadcaster PBS in the Qatari capital Doha while in Gaza his Islamist militia was under assault from Israeli forces in renewed fighting that has left hundreds dead.

A full version of the interview will be broadcast late on Monday, but excerpts were revealed on Sunday on CBS News' "Face the Nation."

Asked by veteran interviewer Charlie Rose whether he could foresee living beside Israelis in peace, Meshaal said only a future Palestinian state could decide whether to recognize the Jewish state.

Politically Motivated: Netherlands Court Orders Russia: Pay Criminals $50 Billion

The International Arbitration Court in the Netherlands has ended a decade long case brought by shareholders in the defunct Yukos oil company, and ordered Russia to pay about $50 billion in damages.

The official ruling published on Monday said Russia violated the EU Energy Charter when it redistributed the company's assets and "took steps equivalent to expropriation of the claimants' investment in Yukos."

Comment: This is the Netherlands' poorly informed act of "retribution" against Russia after they were intentionally misled by the United States into thinking that Russia was in anyway involved in the downing of MH17.

Comment: The idea that Russia is going to be extorted by the Netherlands is incredible. This is just BS posturing at its finest.

25 Recent events leading to WW3 that Western governments want you to forget!

Iraq war crimes
Remember when our rulers told us that regimes like Saddam, Gaddafi, and Assad were the epitome of evil and must be liberated because they allegedly killed their own citizens? Probably not. Americans have short memories.

I only remind you to let you know that the U.S. and other Western governments have reversed their stance on regimes killing their own citizens. They now fully endorse and support this rule-with-an-iron-fist so long as the victims can be successfully labeled "separatists" or "terrorists".

In fact, they want in on the action. The Pentagon began wargaming this week with the regime in Ukraine on how best to kill pesky citizens in Eastern Ukraine who oppose the U.S. Vice President's son stealing and fracking shale gas on their land.

People who defend their land and families are called "terrorists" when imperial powers want their resources. In turn, Western rulers call violent coups "duly elected" if they pledge allegiance to the IMF.

This situation is creating friction among the world's superpowers not seen since the Cold War. Obama recently expressed concern that "The old order isn't holding and we're not quite where we need to be in terms of a new order." Later in the speech he blamed uncooperative nations (read Russia) for standing in the way of the New World Order.

Obama ready to 'check out' of his job early ?

President Barack Obama has already left his job emotionally, and "doesn't care enough to fake it" as he's no longer worried about keeping up appearances, says a scathing opinion piece in The Telegraph.

"President Obama has emotionally checked out of his job a couple of years early, it seems," writes The Daily Caller's Matt K. Lewis in his column for the British publication Saturday.

"Candidates for president who brazenly assume they are the inevitable victor are sometimes accused of "measuring the drapes" for the White House," Lewis writes. "Obama, conversely, seems to be prematurely packing his bags in hopes for an early departure."

A Fox News poll shows that Lewis is hardly alone in believing this.

Comment: Interestingly, President Obama's adviser expressed the possibility of Republican impeachment of the president over the issue of Immigration reforms while accusing Republicans of "political games". Is immigration reform an Impeachable offense?

Speaking truth to the lies: Gaza, Israel and human shields

What does it mean to use human shields? Employed by the Germans and Japanese in the second word war, the tactic is premised on an underlying trust in your enemy's humanity. It appeals to the compassion and mercy of the combatant that they not slaughter the innocent in order to avenge their target. The 'shield' is not the human bodies surrounding the 'guilty' party, the shield is the clemency that mankind instinctively affords the innocent. The shield evaporates only when confronted by an enemy who is not merely a fellow sold[i]er locked in a power battle, but a psychopath unconcerned with the pain of others. Such is the case with the Hamas. They are faced with an enemy who is willing to obliterate pregnant women, babies, kids, handicapped people, schools and crowded hospitals in order to smash their target. The Israelis repeatedly demonstrate a pathological disregard for any life that is not a Jewish life, and it is for this reason alone, that the Hamas are utterly incapable of ever using 'human shields.'

American Democracy: Family removed from Southwest flight after father tweets about rude service

We've all heard of unhinged tweeters getting fired for something they've posted. And on more than one occasion, threatening tweets have even resulted in arrests.

But how about getting thrown off a commercial airline flight for tweeting a complaint about service?

A Minnesota man claims he and his family were removed from a Southwest Airlines flight before takeoff on Sunday because of a critical tweet he posted after they took seats, CBS Minnesota reports.

The "A-list" customer was disappointed that his two young children, not "A-list" customers, weren't allowed to board with him, and instead had to wait for general boarding. Upset at the Southwest agent's unwillingness to allow the entire family to "A-list" board, the man tweeted "something to effect of" this:

Touché NATO: Russia Celebrates Navy Day, Gathers Fleet

Putin Navy Day
© RIA Novosti / Michael KlimentyevRussian President Vladimir Putin, 1st row 3rd left, is seen on board the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier watching a parade and a staged performance by combat ships of Russia's Northern Fleet, July 27, 2014.
People across Russia gathered for Navy Day festivities on Sunday, showing their support to naval soldiers. Ships, submarines, aircraft, troops, and even robots were paraded at harbors in Vladivostok, Sevoromorsk, St. Petersburg, and Sevastopol.

Navy Day, which commemorates the victories of Russian sailors, is celebrated each year on the last Sunday in July.
The Pacific Fleet's large landing ship, Nikolay Vilkov, appeared before the crowd in Vladivostok. Also present were the large anti-submarine ship Marshal Shaposhnikov, fleet destroyer Bystry, and the parade's flagship - guard missile cruiser Varyag. Alagez, a unique ship designed to rescue submarine crews, also took part in the festivities.

The naval aviation and deep-sea manned rescue vessel AS-30 also debuted at the Vladivostok parade this year. A Platforma-M robot was also used to simulate a fight with saboteurs. A Navy helicopter was tasked with finding the "enemy" with an acoustic power station, accomplishing the mission in five minutes.

One of the surprises of the show was a waltz performed by tugboats, with the vessels spinning to a tune performed by the Pacific Fleet's orchestra. Amphibious APCs which descended from the Peresvet landing vessel and made it all the way to shore left the crowd impressed.

The celebration in Vladivostok concluded with a fireworks display, which was seen from almost everywhere in the city.

Comment:

You just gotta love amassing military forces with style. No propaganda, or fake terror scare. Just a good old fashioned parade and celebration.

Russian Officials took the opportunity to remind the west that it still has 10 dedicated strategic nuclear submariens, and 30 multi-purpose ( meaning they could be used as strategic nuclear attack platforms ) submarines in action. The officials also took the time to mention that the movements of NATO are being watched and considered.

Best of the Web: Putin blamed for #MH17 to launch attack on BRICS creation of real world bank to replace US fake world bank

BRICS logo
Christopher Greene of AMTV explains why MH17 was blown up over Eastern Ukraine: to demonize Putin and eclipse the launch of the planet's first real world bank the day before.

Comment: Great presentation. One criticism though: The suggestion that the BRICS alternative was part of some plan all along to crash the dollar and end US hegemony, implying that the Russia-China alliance will be a case of 'meet the new boss, same as the old', may be one conspiracy too many.

It probably would be in the long-term, especially given historical patterns and the socio-biological fact that psychopaths rise to the top. Brutal oligarchy is the norm on this planet. We've been in a US-UK-dominated system for some 300 years now, so it's all we know.

But that also means that we can't project that experience onto a potential world system led by a Russian-Chinese financial-political-cultural alliance, which would at least begin on a fairer platform than rapacious Western 'free trade'.

Judging by their actions thus far - towards their own people and others - the Russians and Chinese appear to mean it when they say they want to introduce new, fair, genuinely humanitarian international norms.
