Defiant EU signals no dispute with Iran's nuclear enrichment program - 'for the time being'

The remaining parties to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal don't consider Tehran's breaches "significant noncompliance" and haven't signaled any intention to trigger the accord's dispute mechanism "for the time being," the European Union's foreign policy chief said on July 15.

Federica Mogherini was speaking after an EU foreign ministers' meeting in Brussels.

"We note that technically all the steps that have been taken — and that we regret have been taken — are reversible. So, we hope and we invite Iran to reverse the steps," Mogherini said.

Jeffrey Epstein's wealth has long been a topic of discussion since becoming known as a 'billionaire pedophile' and other similar monickers. Described by prosecutors this week as a "man of nearly infinite means," a 2011 SEC filing has provided a window into the registered sex offender's elite Wall Street links, according to the Financial Times.

Epstein, who caught a lucky break tutoring the son of Bear Stearns chairman Alan Greenberg before joining the firm, left the investment bank in 1981 to set up his own financial firm. While he reportedly managed money for billionaires for decades, most of Epstein's dealings have been done in the shadows.

A 2011 SEC filing reveals that Epstein's privately held firm, the Financial Trust Company, took a 6.1% stake in Pennsylvania-based catalytic converter maker Environmental Solutions Worldwide (ESW) backed by Leon Black, the billionaire founder of Apollo Global Management.

On June 5, 16 heads of Jewish organizations joined 25 Democratic senators in a private meeting, which, according to the Times of Israel, is an annual event. All of the Jewish organizations but one were openly declared advocates for Israel and are supportive of its policies. Key groups present included the Council of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations, the Anti-Defamation League, and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. A number of the groups have lobbied Congress and the White House in support of the use of force against Iran, a position that is basically identical to the demands being made by the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The senatorial delegation was headed by Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), currently Senate minority leader who has described himself as the "shomer" or guardian of Israel in the Senate. The 25 senators in attendance constitute one-quarter of the entire deliberative body and more than half of all Democrats serving in it. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), who has emphatically linked her campaign to become the Democratic presidential nominee in 2020 to Jewish and Israeli interests, chaired the gathering.

After the meeting, Jewish Insider provided a complete list of the participants and also a diagram of how they were positioned in the Capitol Hill conference room. The senators were placed on one side of a rectangle with the Jewish leaders in front of them filling the seats on the other three sides. Who exactly provided the agenda that Klobuchar was presumably following is not known, but one suspects that it may have been a joint effort by Schumer and several of the more prominent Jewish organization participants.

President Trump is reportedly eager to remove Deep State Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and replace him with former CIA officer and NSC official Fred Fleitz, [president of] an anti-Deep State think tank. Dan Coats is a Deep State stooge and is causing a bottleneck for Barr and Durham in the declassification process in their Spygate investigation.

Recall, in May of this year, Dan Coats warned Attorney General Bill Barr against releasing "highly-sensitive classified information" would imperil national security after President Trump ordered a declassification of Spygate documents.

"As part of that process, I am confident that the Attorney General will work with the IC in accordance with the long-established standards to protect highly-sensitive classified information that, if publicly released, would put our national security at risk," Coats previously said.

Iran is ready to hold negotiations with the United States if Washington lifts sanctions and gives up "bullying," Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, Berlin, Paris and London called for a dialogue between all parties of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), saying the deal risks falling apart due to the US sanctions against Iran and Tehran's decision to partially discontinue its obligations.

"We are always ready for negotiation. I tell you this hour and this moment to abandon bullying and lift the sanctions and return to logic and wisdom. We are ready," Rouhani said, as quoted by the Mehr news agency.

Rouhani added that Iran shifted its approach from "strategic patience" to "reciprocal action" and would respond in kind to any of Washington's steps related to the nuclear deal.

The US Overseas Private Investment Corporation will allocate $800 million for the economic development and jobs creation in the southeast of Mexico, the Latin American country's Foreign Minister, Marcelo Ebrard, said.

"We are talking about approximately $800 million. This development is very important for Mexico and it allows us to move forward," Ebrard said during a ceremony, aired live by the Foreign Ministry on Twitter on Wednesday. During the ceremony, the US agency's Chief Operating Officer, Ryan Brennan, signed a letter outlining the initiative.

Mexico has been experiencing an influx of Central American migrants who seek to cross into the United States. Mexico has been taking action to prevent the migrants from entering the neighbouring country.

Moreover, in June, the two states agreed on a package of measures, envisaging the suspension of the tariffs, announced by the United States, in return for Mexico curbing the migrant flows.

Treasury Secretary Mnuchin: US risks default on its $22T debt in 2 months

Last week, a Washington-based think tank warned of "potentially devastating economic consequences" for the US and global economies if Congress didn't pass a debt limit extension in the weeks to come.

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin has confirmed that the US could default on its obligations in as little as two months if emergency measures are not taken.

"Based on updated projections, there is a scenario in which we run out of cash in early September, before Congress reconvenes," Mnuchin warned, in a letter addressed to Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi obtained by CNBC. "As such, I request that Congress increase the debt ceiling before Congress leaves summer recess," Mnuchin added.

House and Senate lawmakers are expected to leave for their six-week summer break in late July, and are not expected to return to Washington until the second week of September.

Mnuchin's admission contradicts earlier assurances by the Treasury that it would have enough money to hold out until the fall.

ICE: Ready to deport 1M illegals with 'final removal orders'

"ICE agents are ready to just perform their mission which is to go and find and detain and then deport the approximately one million people who have final removal orders" said Ken Cuccinelli, the acting Director of USCIS on CBS news on Sunday.

"I'm just pointing out that the pool of those with final removal orders is enormous," Cuccinelli said. "It's important to note, here we are talking about ICE doing its job as if it's special. And really this should be going on on a rolling basis for ICE and they've been interfered with, effectively, and held up by the politics of Washington to a certain extent."

Venezuelan Information Minister Jorge Rodriguez said at a press conference on Saturday that the opposition leader Juan Guaido's bodyguards, detained earlier in the day over suspected theft of state-owned weaponry, used the stolen guns during the failed coup in April and then intended to sell them.

On Saturday, Guaido said on Twitter that his bodyguards were "kidnapped" by the incumbent President Nicolas Maduro's government in Caracas. A day earlier, following three-day talks on Barbados and multiple prior efforts by international mediators, the government and opposition agreed to engage in negotiations toward normalizing the political situation in the country.

"They intended to sell the weapons that they had stolen from the arsenal of National Bolivarian Armed Forces and used it to attempt a coup on April 30," Rodriguez said at a press conference. He added that a month-long investigation found that Erick Sanchez, Eduardo Gonzales and Jason Parisi planned to raise at least $35,000 for the stolen AK-103 guns belonging to the country's special armed forces.

Kim Darroch reportedly told a U.S. official that Christopher Steele, the author of the discredited anti-Trump dossier that the FBI used to justify secretly monitoring members of the Trump team, was "absolutely legit." Steele, in producing the dossier and several of its false or unsubstantiated claims, was funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and Democratic National Committee.

The leaked diplomatic documents were published by the The Mail on Sunday, days after the paper published several anti-Trump messages Darroch sent to Downing Street from 2017 to present.
