Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) and the Al-Qaeda proxy group Jabhat al-Nusra found quiet shelter in one of the biggest camps, Rukban, near the Syria-Jordan border, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told reporters at her weekly news conference on Thursday. Neither Syrian authorities nor the UN have access to the site.
"ISIS militants, hundreds of them, and also al-Nusra militants in possession of heavy arms are hiding among the civilians, who are in fact being held hostage and used as human shields," Zakharova said.
In an interview that aired on Fox & Friends Thursday morning, Trump said that Cohen - who testified that he paid hush money at Trump's direction to two women prior to the 2016 election - was not somebody who he spent a lot of time with and that the lawyer "didn't do big deals" during the ten years that he was one of his legal representatives.
Asked by Ainsley Earhardt if it was true that he had directed Cohen to pay off the women in an effort to keep them quiet before the election, Trump said he only found out about the payments "later on" and stressed that the money had not come out of campaign funds, which, he admitted, would be a "much bigger thing."
The document in question is entitled 'Parameters and Principles of UN Assistance in Syria,' the ministry wrote in a statement to RT. It was issued by the UN Secretariat in October 2017 and provides guidelines for the UN agencies and programs in their work with the war-torn country.
The Secretariat issued the paper without requesting consent or even consulting the UN Security Council or the UN member states, at least on an official level, the ministry noted, adding that the "guidelines" document still "penetrates deeply" into the political situation in the Syrian Arab Republic, thus "going beyond the issue of simple coordination between the UN structures."
One particular provision of the document explicitly states that the UN "would be ready to facilitate reconstruction" in Syria only "once there is a genuine and inclusive political transition negotiated by the parties." The Russian ministry described it as an apparent attempt to prevent the international organization from contributing to Syria's recovery under the current circumstances, while enforcing a "politicized approach of the countries advocating a regime change."
In a Friday tweet, the US president took aim at what he perceived as widespread censorship on social media. "Social Media Giants are silencing millions of people. Can't do this even if it means we must continue to hear Fake News like CNN, whose ratings have suffered gravely. People have to figure out what is real, and what is not, without censorship!" he wrote.
Nauert's comments on Thursday come after South African authorities summoned US charge d'affaires in Pretoria Jessye Lapenn to explain a tweet by President Donald Trump that criticized land expropriation and "large scale killing of farmers," multiple reports said.
The website of the US embassy in South Africa was unavailable as of 9:30 pm local time, showing only the notification it was "experiencing technical difficulties."

Maxime Bernier announces Thursday in Ottawa that he is leaving the Conservatives and will form his own party.
Bernier, who represents the riding of Beauce, made the announcement Thursday in Ottawa as the party's policy convention kicks off in Halifax.
"I have come to realize over the past year that this party is too intellectually and morally corrupt to be reformed," he said, on the heels of controversial tweets he posted regarding diversity.
"The time has come when we need to go from words to actions, and get rid of the dollar as a means of mutual settlements, and look for other alternatives," he said in an interview with International Affairs magazine.
Noting that the ahead-of-schedule S-400 deliveries to Turkey would be another "concern" for the US, the State Department's Heather Nauert stressed that Washington rejects other nations' plans to diversify their defense system supplies. Earlier this week Rosoboronexport confirmed that the first batch of launchers will be transferred to Ankara in 2019.
"It goes against our policy to have a NATO ally such as Turkey use an S-400 system. Part of the problem with that, it is - that it is not interoperable with other NATO systems," Nauert said. "And so we are against the - having some of our partners and allies around the world potentially purchase S-400s."

The Ubaldo Diciotti -an Italian coast guard ship- has been docked in Catania, Sicily, for several days, after it picked up 190, mostly male, African migrants in the Mediterranean sea almost a week ago. Salvini's government has refused to allow the ship to land, and has said that the migrants should be processed in Malta, whose waters they were found in.
A prosecutor from the Sicilian city of Agrigento visited the boat on Wednesday and said the situation on board is "critical," with many of the migrants requiring medical attention. As a result, the prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into illegal detention against "unknowns," one of whom is certainly Salvini.
Comment: Salvini's party campaigned on stricter immigration controls and they are delivering that promise to the Italian voters:

Ryabkov said Iran has been in Syria at the official request of the Syrian government to help the country fight terrorism, the Tass news agency reported Friday.
"We treat with great respect Iran's steps to provide its own security and actions, including on Syria at the invitation of this country's lawful government," he said, adding there were however "prospects or space for further work in this sphere."

Comment: Zakharova also stated the US is still trying to Balkanize Syria, while stealing its national wealth. TASS reports:
