UK broadcasters have called on the Tory government to regulate internet and social media companies to oversee their news content, as they currently operate "without any independent oversight."

RT's Polly Boiko reports that British TV news bosses have united to urge the government to implement an independent regulatory body for big online tech companies to adhere to, much like Ofcom, the industry regulator all broadcast firms are answerable to - including RT.

UK Broadcasters and Communications Providers claim that "there is an urgent need for independent scrutiny of decisions taken, and greater transparency.

"We do not think it is realistic or appropriate to expect Internet and social media companies to make all the judgment calls about what content is and is not acceptable, without any independent oversight."

Donbass war
The head of the press office of the Donetsk People's Liberation Army's operational command, Daniil Besnosov, said on Sunday that a large number of foreign military personnel had arrived in Donbass territory, among which, he said, were senior military officers from the USA and Canada.

"Our intelligence services have registered the arrival of a large number of foreign military personnel from the 56th Motorized Infantry Brigade and the 406th Artillery Brigade, which are focusing on the Urzuf settlement region," he said.

"In addition, the arrival of a group of high-ranking military personnel from the US and Canadian Armed Forces [...] We do not rule out that foreign military personnel will be directly involved in planning and carrying out an offensive," added Daniil Besnosov .

Europe must fight for its culture and values amidst the migration crisis, Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis has declared. He says recent riots in Germany show how the uncontrolled influx of migrants leads to explosive situations.

"Chemnitz is just right around the corner!" Babis said on Sunday, recalling the chaos that engulfed the eastern German city last week during pro and anti-migrant rallies held there. "I've been thoroughly explaining that this is a fight to preserve our European civilization and culture. We don't want to live in Africa or the Middle East here. We must fight for our values."

"Have you seen the pictures of migrant ships heading for tourist beaches? Europeans are shocked and frightened. The same thing happened in Chemnitz. There was not only a murder committed, but also the murders of teenage girls and sexual assaults," Babis went on.

Russia dismisses Trump's warning about offensive in Syria's Idlib as its Air Force begins largest bombing campaign

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov
Russia has strongly dismissed US President Donald Trump's warning to Syria not to carry out a full-scale offensive against terrorists in the militant-held province of Idlib, stressing that the northwestern region is a "nest of terrorism."
"Just to speak out with some warnings, without taking into account the very dangerous, negative potential for the whole situation in Syria, is probably not a full, comprehensive approach," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a press conference in the capital Moscow on Tuesday.
His comments came a day after Trump warned Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and his close allies Russia and Iran, not to "recklessly attack" Idlib, claiming that civilian people could lost their lives "in this potential human tragedy."

Comment: The Russian Air Force has begun their largest bombing campaign of the year in the Idlib Governorate, a military source told Al-Masdar News this afternoon.
According to the source, at least ten Russian Sukhoi jets launched dozens of airstrikes over the southern and western parts of the Idlib Governorate.

The source said the Russian Air Force specifically targeted the Jisr Al-Shughour District, including the towns of Al-Shughour, Mahambel, Basnqoul, Zayzooun, Ziyarah, Jadariyah, Kafrdeen, Al-Sahn, Saraseef, and dozen others.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has offered tens of billions of dollars in financial support for African countries and written off debt for the continent's poorer nations.

Addressing African leaders at a summit in Beijing, Xi said the $60 billion offered will include $15 billion of aid, interest-free loans and concessional loans, a credit line of $20 billion, a $10 billion special fund for China-Africa development, and a $5 billion special fund for imports from Africa.

He added that Chinese companies will be encouraged to invest no less than $10 billion in the continent in the next three years.

The Chinese leader explained that government debt from China's interest-free loans due by the end of 2018 will be written off for indebted poor African countries, as well as for developing nations in the continent's interior and small island nations.

Gohmert: The government needs to hold more federal employees accountable for misconduct

U.S. President Donald Trump talks with Rep. Louie Gohmert
When Hurricane Harvey crashed onto Texas shores, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) worked tirelessly to come to our citizens' aid. Unfortunately, in the months since then, information has been released regarding a top FEMA official who abused his position to harass co-workers and create inappropriate environments.

According to numerous reports, FEMA personnel chief, Corey Coleman, fostered a culture of widespread sexual harassment during his time with the agency. This case makes clear that while a majority of civil servants are working tirelessly for the American people, a few bad actors can corrupt an entire agency.

In our current system, the process for removing these bad actors is nearly impossible.

A global network of intelligence agencies wants easier access to your private and encrypted messages. In a barely veiled warning to tech companies, it has promised to make things tough for those that don't comply.

After a meeting on Australia's Gold Coast last week, ministers for the intelligence agencies of the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand - known as the 'Five Eyes' - have shared their vision for worldwide snooping in a joint statement.

In the official communique, the ministers outline the importance of reading private messages in the fight against terrorism and crime, citing "the urgent need for law enforcement to gain targeted access to data."

Steve Bannon: 'Australia is a hotbed of populism and ripe for revolution'

Steve Bannon Australia populism

Some Australians who took to Twitter after Bannon’s interview weren’t so sure about the revolution prediction, however, with some suggesting that Americans like Bannon were known for thinking they were “God's f*cking gift to the world” and could tell other countries what to do.
Former Trump advisor and right wing firebrand Steve Bannon, who has been sharing his political philosophy in a series of interviews across the globe, has claimed that Australia is a "hotbed of populism" and is ripe for revolution.

In a contentious interview with ABC's Sarah Ferguson, the former executive chairman of the conservative Breitbart News website, said that the West was in the midst of a "populist national revolt" and that the global revolution was "coming to Australia" soon. His comments echoed those he made recently in Europe, where he envisions helping to form a pan-European far-right political bloc.

Bannon's major focus in the interview was on China and its relationship with Australia, which he said had been "too much of an appeaser" under former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull, who was recently ousted by his own party and replaced by social conservative Scott Morrison.

Florida's governor race turns dirty quick with 'racist robocalls' and Soros funding

Andrew Gillum
The hotly contested race for the Florida governor's mansion has turned nasty quickly, with one side accused of racism and the other taken to task over controversial financial donors, including the ubiquitous George Soros.

The high-profile race has been described as a litmus test for America, as it sees Andrew Gillum, a Bernie Sanders-backed Democrat go up against Rep. Ron DeSantis, an avowed Trump supporter and Trump-endorsed Republican.

Gillum has come under fire for comments made to NBC's 'Meet the Press' on Sunday, during which he thanked "everyday folks" for donating to his campaign - but also gave a special thank you to billionaires George Soros and Tom Steyer, two of the more controversial of his funders. "I'm obviously deeply appreciative of Mr. Soros, as well as Mr. Steyer, both men whom I've known for some time," Gillum told NBC.
