'Turks are brothers' say militants in orchestrated protests across Idlib province

Terrorist group demonstration, Idlib Province
Terrorist groups entrenched in Syria's Idlib province staged numerous demonstrations in an attempt to sway public opinion ahead of a rumored military offensive by Damascus.

With everyone's attention stuck on Syria's Idlib province, the last major terrorist stronghold in the country, it suddenly erupted in a series of "mass protests," orchestrated all across the province.

As seen on Syria.liveuamap.com, the protests erupted simultaneously all across the province on Friday, with all the actions looking very similar to each other. The protests feature green, white and black flags used by armed Syrian opposition groups since 2011; videos of the protests feature people singing "revolution songs," led by a singer with a microphone.

Three people, including a 12-year-old boy, have been killed on the Gaza border after IDF personnel used live ammunition against Palestinian protesters rallying against the Israeli occupation. Some 248 people have been injured.

The deadliest Israeli-Palestinian clashes since the 2014 Gaza War have resulted in three more casualties: Hani Ramzi Afaneh and Mohammad Khalil Shaqoura, both 21, as well as 12-year-old Shadi Abul-Al, WAFA news agency reported.

At least 248 people have been injured or suffered from tear-gas exposure, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. Some 15 people were hit by live bullets.

The Israeli Defense Forces has referred to the protesters as "rioters," insisting that its response was proportionate and in line with its rules of engagement. The Israeli army spokesman said that the protesters pelted its forces with rocks and burning tires, throwing two grenades and bombs, injuring one Israeli soldier. The soldier had suffered a shrapnel wound and received medical attention on the spot.

The IDF also claimed that nine Palestinians attempted to break through the fence on the Israel-Gaza border but were stopped by the Israeli security forces. In retaliation, the IDF targeted two Hamas positions inside Gaza with tanks and aircraft.

A bit late for regrets: Norwegian politicians 'regret' participation in NATO's 2011 destruction of Libya

NATO-led destruction of Libya, 2011

NATO-led destruction of Libya, 2011
In 2011, Norway, led by current NATO boss Jens Stoltenberg, agreed to drop 588 bombs on Libya as part of NATO's operation to oust its leader Muammar Gaddafi, a decision a 260-page report found "ill-informed," sparking belated reproach and regret among politicians.

A state commission has concluded that Norway's Labor leadership and then-PM Jens Stoltenberg knew "too little" about the situation in Libya before they agreed to take part in NATO's operation in the spring of 2011, which effectively plunged the relatively prosperous North African country into chaos.

Norway played an active role in NATO's bombings of Libya, dropping a total of 588 bombs or one-tenth of the overall NATO effort, leaving many Libyan cities in ruins. Almost immediately, a debate about the righteousness and the necessity of this campaign blazed up. Former diplomat and humanitarian activist Jan Egeland demanded an investigation into the bombings as early as 2012, citing numerous victims among civilians, whom the UN-backed NATO raids were supposed to protect.

Careful what you wish for: Facebook 'fact-checkers' censor left-wing site ThinkProgress

Left-wing opinion site ThinkProgress has found itself censored by Facebook's 'fact checkers,' just weeks after calling on the social network to censor right-wing polemicist Alex Jones.

A ThinkProgress article on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, published Sunday, was deemed 'fake news' by Facebook's fact checkers. The article itself claimed that Kavanaugh would overturn Roe v Wade, the landmark 1973 case guaranteeing Americans the constitutional right to an abortion, based on snippets of Kavanaugh's legal rulings and speeches.

The 'fact checkers' - in this case the conservative-leaning Weekly Standard - evaluated ThinkProgress' claims and found them to be false. Sure, Kavanaugh made some statements that hinted at his opposition to Roe v Wade, but he never outright said he'd "kill it," as the article claims.

Former FBI Lawyer Lisa Page and fired FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok exchanged anti-Trump text messages during their time at the bureau.
Emails between top former FBI brass show at least one official using a Yahoo! account on an iPad to discuss sensitive information Other emails show Strzok also seemingly mocking people with disabilities

New emails between former FBI lovers, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page reveal that FBI officials used unsecured devices to discuss sensitive information.

Judicial Watch announced Thursday that it has received 47 pages of Department of Justice records from a January 2018 FOIA lawsuit. U.S. District Judge Reggie B. Walton ordered the FBI to process 13,000 pages of documents of communications between Strzok and Page. However, as the watchdog organization points out, "The FBI refuses to timely process the records and will not complete review and production of all the Strzok-Page materials until at least 2020."

Question

With Trump no closer to impeachment, when will the Russiagaters lose faith?

mueller saint

Special Counsel Robert Mueller, patron saint of Russiagaters, still hasn't come through
"Mueller isn't going to find anything in 2017 that these vast, sprawling networks wouldn't have found in 2016. He's not going to find anything by 'following the money' that couldn't be found infinitely more efficaciously via Orwellian espionage. The factions within the intelligence community that were working to sabotage the incoming administration last year would have leaked proof of collusion if they'd had it. They did not have it then, and they do not have it now. Mueller will continue finding evidence of corruption throughout his investigation, since corruption is to DC insiders as water is to fish, but he will not find evidence of collusion to win the 2016 election that will lead to Trump's impeachment. It will not happen."
~ Me, last year.
I don't make predictions very often. Pretty much my entire worldview is premised upon the idea that we are in a wildly unprecedented point in history, that old patterns are breaking down and giving way to novelty, and that, more and more, the only thing we should expect is the unexpected. If I didn't believe that our species is capable of breaking out of our predictable patterns and pulling off something miraculous from way out of left field, I wouldn't be bothering with the fight against the omnicidal, ecocidal Orwellian oppression machine that is driving us toward extinction. I'd just make art and hug my kids a lot and wait for the end to come.

The above quote was an exception. It was as glaringly obvious then as it is now that if there were any evidence to be found of Trump conspiring with the Russian government to rig the 2016 election, it would have been picked up by the vast, sprawling surveillance networks of the US-centralized empire and leaked to the Washington Post while Obama was still in office. If it didn't happen then, it won't happen at all.

Comment: Caitlin has nailed it. The PTB have known from the beginning that the collusion charge against Trump is a crock, but potentially useful to sideline a troublesome outsider, who could mess up the plans Hillary was supposed to implement. Still, the circus has served as useful cover to continue advancing their agenda. As Caitlin wrote elsewhere:
Ordinary Americans rarely thought about Russia prior to 2016. It certainly wasn't a nation the rank-and-file west was thinking and talking about constantly. Then all of a sudden, through nothing other than the power of sheer narrative, it's become an omnipotent, insidious force in the eyes of the public with the ability to infiltrate and overturn democracies all around the world and influence major events everywhere from the US to the UK to Syria. The Facebook ads could have been a second-page story for one day and nobody would have cared. The DNC hack, even if it happened, could have disappeared from the news after a day or two and it would have gone unnoticed. But because the mass media propaganda machine has been hammering Russia, Russia, Russia all day every day, it now seems perfectly reasonable to believe that Putin is behind every major event in the world; perfectly reasonable for so much of the Syria saber rattling to be targeted not at Damascus but at Moscow.

[...]

After his surprise win Trump was taken in, shown around, and then pressured by Washington insiders and/or by the political pressures of Russiagate into doing the thing Hillary Clinton had been planning on doing: greatly escalating the new cold war. Obama's refusal to fully collaborate with ramping up tensions with Russia was scheduled to be rectified by Clinton, and since they didn't get her they're getting the same thing from Plan B.

This was all planned. A desperate, declining empire with a need to sabotage the rise of nonconforming nations and their allies has been planning for years to either squeeze Russia like a python until it taps out and moves out of the way, or until it fights back and is crushed militarily. That's the plan, and since the life of the empire depends upon its success, they'll do literally anything to make sure it succeeds. This includes lying to the world to an extent that has never before been seen in modern history.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey admission: Conservative staffers 'don't feel safe to express their opinions' at liberal tech giant

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said conservative employees don't feel safe expressing their opinion at the tech giant's headquarters.
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey admitted that the social media giant's staffers who have right-leaning political views don't feel comfortable to speak up because of the company's ultra-liberal work environment.

"We have a lot of conservative-leaning folks in the company as well, and to be honest, they don't feel safe to express their opinions at the company," Dorsey told New York University journalism professor Jay Rosen in an interview published on Friday by Recode.

"They do feel silenced by just the general swirl of what they perceive to be the broader percentage of leanings within the company, and I don't think that's fair or right," he added. "We should make sure that everyone feels safe to express themselves within the company, no matter where they come from and what their background is. I mean, my dad was a Republican."

Comment: Twitter staff seem to be doing much more than just make their conservative co-workers uncomfortable.

Syrian Army strikes militant positions near US military base in al-Tanf

The development comes nearly two weeks after a spokesperson for the US-led coalition's Operation Inherent Resolve against Daesh told Sputnik that there was no terrorist camp near its military base in Syria's al-Tanf.

The Syrian army has launched a surprise offensive against Daesh terrorists north of al-Tanf in Homs province. Government forces struck militant positions in the settlements of Kobajjep and al-Rashwaniyah, control of which opens the way to the strategically important area of Humeimah, which lies on the border with Deir ez-Zor province.

A military source told Sputnik that "the Syrian army is dealing the final blow to the last enclaves of Daesh fighters in a desert in central Syria. This is an area between Homs, Deir ez-Zor and Damascus. The army managed to liberate vast territories, destroy dozens of militants and shelters that were located in the rocks."

Organization of American States (OAS) Secretary General Luis Almagro waves to people during his visit to the Colombia-Venezuela border at the Simon Bolivar international bridge in Cucuta, Colombia, September 14, 2018.
The head of the Organization of American States (OAS), accused by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro of being a "CIA agent," says military intervention against Caracas should not be ruled out as a response to the ongoing crisis.

OAS Secretary-General Luis Almagro has hinted that the bloc may consider taking military action in Venezuela if it runs out of diplomatic options in its bid to alleviate the plight of people in the crisis-stricken country.

"With regards to a military intervention aimed at overthrowing the regime of Nicolas Maduro, I think we should not exclude any option," Almagro said on Friday.

Remember? Wall Street bankers never punished for massive fraud leading to 2008 financial crisis

As the world marks the 10th anniversary of the worst financial crash in recent history, it's worth looking into who was held responsible for knowingly issuing fraudulent mortgages that led to the crisis.

On 15 September 2008, legendary Wall Street banking giant Lehman Brothers went bust. The 158-year-old investment bank was heavily involved in subprime mortgage-backed securities. The institution failed to sell the papers fast enough to meet its other obligations to clients. Lehman's fate was sealed after the US government refused to bail out the bank and rescue bids by Bank of America and Barclays failed to materialize.

Lehman Brothers filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, citing $639 billion in assets and $619 billion in debt. The collapse, which is still ranked as the largest bankruptcy in US history, spread panic across Wall Street, forcing an unprecedented rescue of the financial system. Global markets immediately plummeted after news of the bankruptcy.
