Syrian Army finally breaks ISIS' 2-year siege of Aleppo's airbase

The Syrian Armed Forces have broken a two-year ISIL siege of the Kweiris airbase in the Aleppo province, a military source told RIA Novosti.

For two years, Syrian soldiers stationed at the airbase have been under an ISIL siege.

"The army managed to break through to Kweiris defenders, lifting the siege which had lasted over two years," the military source said.

The source added that "this became possible after the liberation of Sheikh Ahmad [a village 2 km away from the airbase]."

Comment: Russia's involvement in Syria has certainly turned this situation on its head. Expect more loud whining from the American imperialists:

Mush for brains: Ashton Carter says U.S. will be updating its lasers, nukes and electromagnetic railguns to deter 'Russian aggression'

U.S. Defense Secretary Ashton Carter: "This is my angry face, Russia!"

Pentagon head Ashton Carter says Washington not seeking new Cold War, but adapting 'operational posture' to deal with new moves by Moscow

Comment: 'Operational posture'?? More like 'assuming the position'.

The United States is adapting its "operational posture" to counter Russian aggression, Defense Secretary Ashton Carter said Saturday.

Carter on Saturday accused Russia of endangering world order, citing its incursions in Ukraine and loose talk about nuclear weapons, and said the U.S. defense establishment is searching for creative ways to deter Russian aggressive and protect US allies.

"We are adapting our operational posture and contingency plans as we - - on our own and with allies - - work to deter Russia's aggression, and to help reduce the vulnerability of allies and partners," Carter told a defense forum at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California.

Comment: In mentioning electronic warfare and "surprising" new weapons that the U.S. has in the context of "Russian aggression," could Ashton Carter actually have been hinting at what may have occurred to induce the downing over the Russian airliner in Egypt?

Was an 'exotic energy weapon' used to down Russian plane in Sinai?

Putin: US missile defense about Russian nuclear potential, N. Korea and Iran references by Washington just cover

Russia wants war
Vladimir Putin said the US is trying to "neutralize Russia's nuclear potential" with its on-going deployment of a missile defense shield in Europe. The Russian president has promised a response.

"References to Iran and North Korea nuclear threats are just a cover for the true purpose [of NATO missile defense]. That is to neutralize the potential of other nuclear states not the US or its allies - primarily Russia," Putin said during a meeting in Sochi dedicated to national military development. "The US is attempting to achieve strategic military superiority, with all the consequences that entails."

Vladimir Putin has reminded that Iran reached a landmark nuclear deal with world powers in July. The agreement would remove sanctions that have crippled its economy, in exchange for severe restrictions on Tehran's nuclear program.

Russia has been repeatedly told Iran is the main threat. "Now, the Iranian problem is off the table - treaties have been signed and ratified. Yet, the work on missile defense continues, as before," Putin said.

Comment: The US wants global hegemonic control and Russia is the prime opposition to that at the moment. No matter how much the US bellows about "Russian aggression", the reality is that Russia is not the one who is surrounding the US with their missile defense system, but vice versa. Imagine if Russia were to put military bases in Canada and Mexico. The US would be understandably concerned and seek to protect themselves. Russia is doing the same, but the US wants to color their defensive measure as "aggression". It's a complete joke.

In defense of Russia: Putin working on weapons capable of penetrating any missile defenses

Russian defense companies have developed and successfully tested a number of advanced weapons systems capable of penetrating any missile defenses, President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday.

Russia will strengthen its strategic nuclear potential in response to the deployment of US missile defense systems, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday.

"Russia will take necessary retaliatory measures to strengthen the capacity of its strategic nuclear forces. We will work on our missile defense system as well. Initially, as we have repeatedly said, we will work on the strike systems able to overcome any missile defenses," Putin said at a meeting on the situation in the Russian military-industrial complex.

Comment: Putin clearly states what he is up against and explains what the US game is.

Russia expediting construction of military bases on Kuril Islands

Russian Deputy Defense Minister Ruslan Tsalikov has urged construction companies to expedite work on building infrastructure at two military bases located on Kunashir and Iturup islands in the Kuril archipelago.

The four Kuril Islands — Iturup, Kunashir, Shikotan and Habomai — have been administered by Russia since the end of World War II, but Japan still lays claim to them.

"Russia's Spetsstroy companies are carrying out massive work on construction of two military bases on the Kunashir and Iturup islands," the ministry said in a statement.

According to the ministry, Tsalikov has visited the construction cites and urged the companies to expedite the work so that the bases would be built by the end of 2016.

"During the next year, the companies should finish work on construction of over 220 objects of civilian and military infrastructure,...including combat training facilities," the statement said.

Comment: Interesting Russia is expediting construction here close to Japan. This in combination with China building up bases on the Spratlys Islands. More deterrence from US 'aggression'?

MH17 and A321 crashes: Pentagon spy satellites see what Washington wants them to see

Image

The MH17 and A321 tragedies reveal that something does not add up when it comes to the US intelligence data gathered via the Pentagon's network of surveillance satellites, American investigative reporter Dave Lindorff asserted.

In short, it is a matter of timing and availability. In the first case, no classified information based on satellite imagery has been leaked or made public months after MH17 crashed in the Donetsk region. In the second case, it appeared just days after a Russian passenger jet disintegrated in mid-air over Egypt's Sinai Peninsula.

An Airbus A321 operated by the Russian airline Kogalymavia crashed on October 31. Two days later, US media reported that a spy satellite detected a heat flash in the skies above the desert shortly before the incident. Reports cited unnamed US officials.

Sinai has been plagued by violence since Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi was removed from power but it is not a war zone. In mid-2014, civil war in Ukraine was at its apex. Therefore, "it is a certainty that the US had moved not one but multiple spy satellites into position to monitor the region around the clock by the time of the Flight 17 shoot-down," Lindorff noted.

Comment: The difference in narratives for the two plane crashes seems to simply be that the Ukraine crash could be utilized politically to demonize Putin and Russia, thus the lie that it was shot down by pro-Russia forces. The Sinai crash did not offer the same opportunity to Washington. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

The unelected shadow US government is here to stay

"Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an invisible government, owing no allegiance and acknowledging no responsibility to the people." ― Theodore Roosevelt
Shadow Government
© earth-liberation-movement.blogspot
America's next president will inherit more than a bitterly divided nation teetering on the brink of financial catastrophe when he or she assumes office. He will also inherit a shadow government, one that is fully operational and staffed by unelected officials who are, in essence, running the country.

To be precise, however, the future president will actually inherit not one but two shadow governments.

The first shadow government, referred to as COG or continuity of government, is made up of unelected individuals who have been appointed to run the government in the event of a "catastrophe."

The second shadow government, referred to as the Deep State, is comprised of unelected government bureaucrats, corporations, contractors, paper-pushers, and button-pushers who are actually calling the shots behind the scenes right now.

The first shadow government, COG, is a phantom menace waiting for the right circumstances—a terrorist attack, a natural disaster, an economic meltdown—to bring it out of the shadows, where it operates even now. When and if COG takes over, the police state will transition to martial law.

Yet as I point out in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People, it is the second shadow government, the Deep State, which poses the greater threat to our freedoms. This permanent, corporatized, militarized, entrenched bureaucracy is unaffected by elections, unaltered by populist movements, and beyond the reach of the law.

This is the hidden face of the police state.

These two shadow governments, which make a mockery of representative government and the "reassurance ritual" of voting, have been a long time in the making. Yet they have been so shrouded in secrecy, well hidden from the eyes and ears of the American people, that they exist and function in contravention to the principles of democratic government.

As the following makes clear, these shadow governments, which operate beyond the reach of the Constitution and with no real accountability to the citizenry, are the reason why "we the people" have no control over our government.

The COG shadow government plan was devised during the Cold War as a means of ensuring that a nuclear strike didn't paralyze the federal government.

Supreme Court rules broader immunity to police using deadly force in chases

supremes

Time for a new court?
The Supreme Court made it harder Monday to sue police for using deadly force against fleeing suspects, ruling that officers are immune from lawsuits unless it is "beyond debate" that a shooting was unjustified and clearly unreasonable.

By an 8-1 vote, the justices tossed out an excessive force suit against a Texas police officer who ignored his supervisor's warning and took a high-powered rifle to a highway overpass to shoot at an approaching car. The officer said he hoped to stop the car but instead shot and killed the driver.

The ruling bolsters previous decisions that give police the benefit of the doubt when they encounter a potentially dangerous situation. The court noted in an unsigned 12-page opinion that it has "never found the use of deadly force in connection with a dangerous car chase to violate the 4th Amendment."

In dissent, Justice Sonia Sotomayor faulted the majority for "sanctioning a 'shoot first, think later' approach to policing."

The court's decision comes at a time of growing concern over police shootings, including the killing last week of a 6-year-old Louisiana boy who was in the back seat of his father's car. The two officers in that case have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Comment: The Supreme Court just sold out the public in favor of rogue police brutality and license to murder. Taking away the rights to a court hearing and wrongful death lawsuit is akin to enslaving a public, without recourse or justice.

Majority of US states score poorly on cronyism & corruption test

The majority of state governments are hotbeds of cronyism, with the public shut out from true accountability by loophole-ridden open-records laws, according to a new report on the integrity of statehouses throughout the US.

Eleven of the 50 US states received failing grades for transparency and accountability, while only three earned a score about 70 percent. Alaska, with a score of 76, a "C" grade, was rated highest by the Center for Public Integrity, which just released its 2015 State Integrity Investigation, "a data-driven assessment of state government." Michigan came in dead last, with a score of 51.

"The State Integrity Investigation assesses the existence, effectiveness, and accessibility (i.e. citizen access) of key governance and anti-corruption mechanisms through a qualitative and indicator-based research process," the Center for Public Integrity and its partner, Global Integrity, explained their comprehensive probe of state laws and political cultures from coast to coast.

Comment: There's no doubt about the corruption within the American political system. It's so obvious that even the majority American people know it.

More Russophobia: Russian sports minister refutes anti-doping agency's report and will support any investigation into allegations

Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko
All the conclusions in the World Anti-Doping Agency's report are based on unconfirmed sources and unfounded facts, Russian sports minister Vitaly Mutko told RT, adding that the far-fetched report aimed to turn public opinion against Russian athletes.

In the exclusive interview to RT, Mutko refuted WADA's 323-page report which claimed that athletes were encouraged and helped to evade detection of doping substances by state-funded agencies: the anti-doping agency RUSADA, Russian athletics federation, and the testing laboratory in Moscow.

Mutko has called the report's conclusions "baseless" and "really fictional."

"The Russian doping agencies today are really independent from the government," Mutko said, adding that the country will continue to finance and endorse sports. "We only collect samples that are then stored in a laboratory and are supervised for decades. It is not Russia that now heads the anti-doping organization."

Mutko says that Russia annually collects some 15,000 samples, with the total number of athletes disqualified standing at roughly 2 percent, "same as in other countries."

"It is impossible to hide anything today. All of the data is there in the databases supervised by WADA. Many of them just cannot be forged," Mutko said, adding that allegations surfaced to "cast a shadow on Russian sports."

Mutko went on to criticize statements made by Richard "Dick" Pound, the former WADA president who led the 11-month investigation.

"There is the report of the commission and there is the opinion of Mr. Pound, who actually overstepped and exceeded the competence of this commission, and gave his personal assessment, rather a general assessment of the entire anti-doping activities in Russia."

Comment: It's really pathetic watching the West flounder in their never-ending quest to tarnish Russia's reputation.
