Puppet Masters
During the meeting, Pashinian had told Sargsyan: "I came here to discuss the terms of your resignation." "This is not a dialogue, this is blackmail," Sargsyan responded, before walking out of the meeting room at Yerevan's Marriott Hotel, where media were present.
Pashinian was confronted by masked police officers and other security personnel as he led a crowd of several hundred supporters marching to the city's southern Erebuni district, RFE/RL reported. The police, its report said, fired stun grenades to stop the march. Its report added that the police later dismissed reports of Pashnian's detention and said in a statement that the opposition leader was "forcibly taken" from a protest rally in the capital. "Despite repeated calls to stop illegal rallies, Pashinian continued leading a demonstration" in Yerevan, police were quoted as saying in a statement, adding that two other opposition lawmakers-Sasun Mikaelyan and Ararat Mirzoyan-"were forcibly taken from the site" as riot police dispersed the rally.
The always excellent Moon of Alabama put out a piece yesterday detailing the immense deluge of attack editorials disguised as information that have been churned out recently about anyone who questions the establishment Syria narrative, including a single day in which no less than seven smear pieces were issued by prominent publications. Seven. In one day.
If you look at the words within these smear pieces, you will gather that there has been a sudden disturbing emergence of evil bloggers, tweeters and activists who are hell bent on deceiving you into falling in love with Bashar al-Assad and pledging allegiance to the Russian flag. If you look at what these outlets are actually doing, however, you see a very different picture indeed: an aggressive, spurious campaign to inoculate the English-speaking world against the influence of anyone who disagrees with yet another war against yet another Middle Eastern country.
And people are noticing. It's getting too blatantly obvious, like a stranger coming up to you and talking about climate change while openly masturbating; what he is doing would eclipse interest in whatever he is saying. The frenetic publication of hit pieces against anyone who fails to fall in line with the establishment Syria narrative is fast becoming the real story here.
Comment: Indeed, the big news is that the MSM are overdoing their Fake News, which speaks of desperation on their part. Don't miss:

The U.S., and French flags are displayed on the Eisenhower Executive Office Building as seen through the portico of the West Wing of the White House, Friday, April 20, 2018, in Washington. President Donald Trump plans to celebrate nearly 250 years of U.S.-French relations by hosting President Emmanuel Macron at a glitzy White House state dinner on Tuesday. It’s the first state visit and the first big soiree of the Trump era in Washington.
Wined and dined on multiple state visits during his tour of Asia last year, Trump is paying it forward and celebrating nearly 250 years of U.S.-French relations by playing host to President Emmanuel Macron at a glitzy White House state dinner on Tuesday.
Months in the making, it's the first state visit and first big soiree of the Trump era in Washington.
"It sounds like what they're planning will be spectacular," said Jeremy Bernard, who was White House social secretary in 2014, the last time the U.S. feted a French president.
The White House has said little beyond the fact that dinner will be served, sticking to the tradition of trying to maintain an element of surprise for its guests.
In fact, Macron will break bread twice with Trump.

The plan to grow the electorate by millions of voters was discussed during a May 2014 board meeting of the Open Society Foundations, a liberal grant-making group founded by Soros. A 220-page guide detailing the plan was among more than 2,500 hacked Soros documents released by DC Leaks, which publishes documents from influential officials around the world.
The guide covers strategies and tactics the group will employ in the United States from 2015 to 2018. The top goals listed by the guide are to "advance electoral reform" and "combat suppression."
"The following four goals form the scaffolding of U.S. Programs' work," the guide states. "1. An American democracy strengthened through increased meaningful participation, inclusive practice, and accountability." The third strategic goal expands upon this, calling for "Full political, economic, and civic participation of immigrants and communities of color by dismantling the barriers and strengthening the conduits to opportunity."

Former Director FBI James Comey • Former Director National Intelligence James Clapper
"I said the Russians allegedly had tapes involving him and prostitutes at the Presidential Suite at the Ritz Carlton in Moscow from about 2013," Comey wrote of his conversation with Trump in a classified memo that was released in redacted form late Thursday. "I said I wasn't saying this was true, only that I wanted him to know both that it had been reported and that the reports were in many hands."
No media organizations had reported the allegations at the time Comey briefed Trump.
"I said media like CNN had them and were looking for a news hook," Comey added in his memo about the briefing with Trump on January 6, 2017.
In another classified memo written on January 28, 2017, Comey wrote that in a separate meeting Trump mentioned the allegation about the alleged tape of prostitutes at a hotel and called it "fake news."
Comment: From The Daily Wire: The Comey memos don't help Comey's case. In fact, they hurt it rather badly. They don't show us anything we didn't already know, but they undercut the case that Comey was being pressured in any serious fashion by Trump.
Even in the context of a post-truth geopolitical environment run amok, Russian President Vladimir Putin telling his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani over the phone that any further Western strikes against Syria may "lead to chaos in international relations" should at least be seen for what it is; a massive understatement.
According to the Kremlin, Putin and Rouhani agreed that what cynics are calling the F.U.K.U.S. - or France, UK, US - strikes have damaged the chances of achieving any meaningful political resolution in Syria.
That translates into Putin and Rouhani acknowledging that Washington, London and Paris are pulling no punches to be back in the game, directly clashing with the painstaking Astana peace process led by Russia, Iran and Turkey.
Significantly, Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari reminded acting US Secretary of State John Sullivan, also over the phone, about "the necessity to prioritize finding a political solution and that the Syrian people alone should determine their own fate."
This means essentially that the "4+1" - Russia, Syria, Iran, Iraq, plus Hezbollah - which were at the vanguard of destroying ISIS, or Islamic State, and other crypto-jihadi outfits in Syria, remain in synch. The counter-terror HQ of the "4+1" was in Baghdad. As much as Baghdad may harbor ideological divergences with Damascus, their common strategy is built upon the fight against Salafi-jihadis of all stripes.
Comment: The Syrian bombing stunt by F.U.K.U.S. has pretty much closed the door for any obvious working relationship with Syria, Russia and partners. Russia is aiming to create a 'group lift' to benefit many. It is increasingly transparent as to what the US and its lackeys intend.
"The United States has not only failed to implement its side [of the deal with Tehran], but is even asking for more," Mohammad Javad Zarif told reporters in New York, where he is attending a UN General Assembly meeting. The Iranian FM also warned Washington's allies, France and Germany, who have not yet definitively ruled out the possibility of 'amending' the deal, that trying to "appease" US President Donald Trump would be "an exercise in futility."
"That's a very dangerous message to send to the people of Iran, but also to the people of the world - that you should never come to an agreement with the United States because, at the end of the day, the operating principle of the United States is 'what's mine is mine, what's yours is negotiable,'" he said, as cited by Reuters.
Iran's warning comes after North Korea made a surprise announcement on Saturday, declaring its nuclear test program frozen indefinitely, ahead of the high-level talks with Seoul - and a planned historic meeting between Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump. It also comes ahead of the May 12 deadline for Trump to decide on the fate of the Iranian nuclear deal
Comment: A bit of US humility and common sense would have an exponential effect about now. Unfortunately, Israel is not going to allow its proxy to do that.
"We cannot buy weapons from the US with our money, but unfortunately, the US and coalition forces give these weapons, this ammunition, to terrorist organizations for free," President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, in an interview on Turkish channel NTV.
"So where does the threat come from? It comes primarily from strategic partners," he stated, emphasizing that Washington continues to funnel truck- and plane-loads of weapons into Northern Syria.
"The US sent 5,000 trucks loaded with weapons to northern Syria," the Turkish leader said, reiterating concerns he repeatedly voiced before, especially following the launch of military operations in northern Syria.
Comment: Mitchell's horror at realizing what is going on is another key indicator that Moscow and Ankara are cooperating towards a common goal in Syria: booting the Americans out.
And by Erdogan singling out its erstwhile NATO 'allies' like this, Turkey signals its steady pivot towards Eurasian multipolarity.
F-22 Raptors "played an integral role" during last Saturday's attack in Syria, US. Air Force Central Command spokesman Capt. Mark Graff has said, according to the Air Force Times.
Last week, Joint Staff director Lt. Gen. Kenneth McKenzie told reporters that since US air assets did not enter Syria's air defense zone, F-22s were not used to accompany bombers. He also reported that the US's B1-B bombers launched 19 of its new JASSM-ER cruise missile, making it the first time the new but troublesome Lockheed Martin standoff weapon was deployed.
The Justice Department has decided to allow BayerAG's megadeal to acquire Monsanto Co., valued at more than $60 billion, after the companies pledged to sell off additional assets to secure government antitrust approval, according to people familiar with the matter.
An agreement in principle between the companies and the department, brokered in recent days, marked a breakthrough in the U.S. merger review process, which had remained in limbo because of Justice Department concerns about the deal.
