FSB holds briefing on Kerch Strait provocation: Ukrainian ships were overloaded with arms, planned covert movements

Ukrainian ships that were seized last month carried more ammunition than usual, had guns in combat ready-mode and planned to 'stealthily' pass the Kerch Strait in violation of rules, Russian border and security officials said.

The three vessels were detained on November 25 after they spent hours in Russian territorial waters, ignoring requests of officials to stop. They were attempting to pass through the Kerch Strait from a Ukrainian port in the Black sea to the one in the Azov Sea, but didn't file the request that is necessary when navigating through a narrow and busy waterway, according to Russian authorities. Kiev insisted the ships had proper authorization.

Two of the vessels, gunboats 'Berdyansk' and 'Nikopol', were mounted with "weapons and ammunition exceeding the standard loadout," Deputy Head of the Russian Coast Guard, Aleksey Volsky told reporters on Saturday.

Their "artillery systems were loaded and placed into combat-ready mode" when they met the Russian vessels, according to Mikhail Shishov, who leads the Investigative Directorate at the Federal Security Service (FSB).

IDF reportedly fires several shots near Lebanese border

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) fired several shots in the air near the Lebanese border this afternoon, prompting the Lebanese military to raise their alert levels.

According to reports from southern Lebanon, the Israeli Defense Forces fired the shots in the Kroum Al-Sharqi area near the United Nations' blue line.

The state-owned National News Agency (NNA) reported "the shooting took place because of the heavy fog in the area and the surprise of the Israeli enemy of a Lebanese army patrol in the Lebanese territory."

No one was harmed as a result of the gunfire.

Comment: This comes as the IDF makes claims of a second Hezbollah tunnel discovered crossing from Lebanon into Israel:
The IDF added that they had placed explosives inside the tunnel, warning that "anyone who enters the tunnel does so at their own risk."

Similar to the first tunnel, discovered during the first day of the Northern Shield operation, the facility was not operational and did not pose any immediate threat to Israel, according to Tel Aviv's military.
And Lebanese media have released photos alleging to be of IDF troops operating near Meiss Ej Jabal village, within Lebanon in the border zone between the two nations:

Hezbollah has responded to the IDF's latest barrage of belligerence with their own dose of tough talk:
Hezbollah is capable of targeting any point in Israel with its missiles, the group's second in command Sheikh Naim Qassem said in an interview with Iran's al-Vefagh newspaper.

"There is not a single point in the occupied territories out of reach of Hezbollah's missiles," Qassem said.

According to the senior official, the missiles serve to deter Israel from starting another war with Lebanon by exposing the "Israeli home front".
Even warmonger and ex-DM Lieberman is criticizing Netanyahu's Hezbollah tunnel gambit, urging IDF action in Gaza instead:
"Taking action in the north does not justify inaction in the south. What is happening in the north is an engineering act, not a military operation. There is no need to put one over the other. Both can be dealt with," Lieberman pointed out.

According to Lieberman, Israel endorsing Qatar's move to provide Gaza with $30 million over the past two months was tantamount to "surrendering to Hamas" and "buying quiet at the price of our national security."

Feds allege in court that Trump directed Michael Cohen to make hush money payments during 2016 campaign

Michael Cohen walks out of federal court in New York, Nov. 29, 2018.
Federal prosecutors have implicated Donald Trump in a scheme to silence women who alleged during the 2016 campaign that they had extramarital affairs with him before he became president, according to court documents.

In court filings submitted Friday afternoon by federal prosecutors in New York, the government alleged that President Trump, at the time a candidate, directed his longtime personal attorney and fixer, Michael Cohen, to make payments in an effort to silence adult film actress Stormy Daniels and former Playboy playmate Karen McDougal.

Cohen had leveled this accusation against the president during his plea hearing in New York in August, saying then-candidate Trump directed the hush money deals that were made in the closing weeks of the 2016 election. Cohen told the court he acted "in coordination with and at the direction of a candidate for federal office," referring to then-candidate Trump.

Russian Deputy: US employs terrorists to exert pressure and work against sovereign countries

US soldiers
The US uses terrorists as a tool of pressure and direct interference in the affairs of sovereign states, said Russian Deputy Vyacheslav Volodin.

"The US geopolitical ambitions, which continue to use terrorists and extremists as an instrument of pressure and direct interference in the affairs of sovereign states, impede working together. [The Americans] try to justify on the basis on the so-called concept of resistance to violent extremism," the Russian politician said indignantly.

He explained that under this concept countries are forced to apply "antiextremist standards" in the education of society by so-called "international independent experts", circumventing legitimate authorities.

"As a result of these actions, state institutions are undermined, extremist ideas and appeals to 'colored revolutions' are inflamed in society. Terrorism is further strengthened, harming entire countries and regions," commented Volodin.

Comment: Many Americans are far too ignorant of US bullying and aggression - but those countries who have fallen victim to it now understand it all too well - and are preparing themselves for what will inevitably be a day of reckoning.

Question

If America is a consumer paradise, why are Republicans and Democrats the only choices available?

Americans enjoy the excesses of consumerism to the point of overabundance and redundancy. Yet come election time, the only choice to be found on the threadbare shelves year after year is Republican and Democrat.

Enter any grocery store in the United States and you will likely suffer culture shock at the mind-numbing variety of consumer choice. A shopper could spend hours hunting and gathering down long aisles of cold breakfast cereals, snack foods, fizzy drinks and hundreds of other assorted waist-busters that American consumers can't imagine doing without. But is this superfluity in the supermarkets just compensation for something that is conspicuously missing from the political scene?

If the US political system were imagined as a supermarket, the cornucopia of variety would come to a screeching halt. Instead, shoppers would be greeted with row after row of Republican and Democratic labels all screaming out for your attention - high-sodium stuff for long shelf life, like Mitt Romney canned corn and Hillary Clinton spaghetti sauce. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, all of the commercials on television would be spotlighting the Republican and Democratic brand as if nothing else existed in the world.

Caitlin Johnstone: The Bush eulogy and how it was covered by the media - is a pile of stinking garbage

Bush eulogy
George W Bush gave a eulogy for his father today, and establishment sycophants everywhere are falling all over themselves to tell us that this means his presidency has been redeemed and piles of human corpses are awesome. I take some time here to yell at them.

British pundit Piers Morgan: "Wow. Wonderful tribute by President George W. Bush to his father President George H.W. Bush. Proud, poignant, loving, funny & ultimately very emotional. Remarkable to think of a father and son both ascending to the White House. They must have shared so much together."

Comment: Thank goodness for voices like Johnstone's who see right through the monumental criminal Bullshit we're being told to believe and call things out for exactly how they are!

Former FBI Director James Comey has admitted the Steele dossier was still uncorroborated by the FBI at the time he left the bureau. The infamous dossier was used by the FBI to monitor Trump aide Carter Page.

The House Oversight Committee has released a 235-page transcript of Comey's grilling 24 hours after the former FBI director was questioned by lawmakers on the Capitol Hill. While Comey, who was fired by Trump in May 2017, tried hard not to spill the beans, he let out one startling confession - the FBI did not verify the scandalous dossier compiled by ex-British spy Christopher Steele before it went to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court where it was used to obtain a warrant on Trump's former campaign advisor Carter Page.

Responding to Rep. Ratcliffe, (R-Texas), Comey admitted that before signing off on the FISA warrant in October 2016, he repeatedly referred to the dossier as lacking credibility, but said that he did not know that he "was referring to all of it."

"Maybe I was, but I had in mind some particular portions of it that were salacious and unverified," Comey said during his closed-door testimony.

New Delhi and Abu Dhabi have inked a currency swap agreement to boost trade and investment without involvement of a third currency like the US dollar.

The swap is for an amount of two billion UAE dirham or 35 billion Indian rupees (US$495 million), according to the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

"The bilateral currency swap agreement between India and UAE is expected to reduce the dependency on hard currencies like the US dollar," the embassy said.

"It is also expected to give a push for the local currencies of the two nations and may reduce the impact of volatility in exchange rate arising from the dependency on a third currency. It is also expected to reduce the transmission costs arising from exchange rate risk," the embassy added.

The sides also discussed cooperation in energy, security, trade, investments, space, defense, and so on.

Ukraine's Poroshenko poses with 'elite' paratrooper sporting Nazi SS skull and cross bones insignia

Petro Poroshenko has met the country's elite troops - paratroopers - ahead of their redeployment to bolster the "partial" martial law state. One of the soldiers openly sported an insignia of a Waffen SS division.

"Looking at your hardened, courageous faces, I once again realize nobody will overcome Ukraine. We are ready to protect our land with weapons in hands, to fight for each piece, we will not give it up to anyone," Poroshenko told the troops while speaking in the region of Zhitomir on Thursday.

The president stood for photos with the servicemen, who were to be redeployed to other, "dangerous" regions of the country to prop up the 30-day period of the so-called "partial" martial law that Poroshenko announced following the Kerch Strait incident.

Comment: That they feel so confident to display their allegiance with such notorious regimes tells you all you need to know about Poroshenko, his military, and the Western establishment which keeps them afloat - and this is just one example amongst many.

Speaking to reporters in Mar-a-Lago, President Trump laments 'terrible decisions from the Ninth Circuit,' suggests Congress gets involved.

The Trump administration's bid to immediately reinstate its policy of denying asylum to those who enter the U.S. illegally was denied Friday by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

The San Francisco-based court stated in a 2-1 ruling that the policy was likely "inconsistent" with existing law.
