Trump: US doesn't want to be world's policeman - Tell that to the Deep State

Washington is increasingly not interested in being the world policeman, US President Donald Trump has said, noting the country spent "tremendous amount of money" on policing the world.

"More and more, [we] are not wanting to be the policeman of the world," Trump said in a joint press conference with Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari at the White House. He was commenting on a question whether the latter managed to convince him to up the US troop presence in that country.

"We're spending tremendous amount of money for decades on policing the world, and that shouldn't be our priority. We want to police ourselves. We want to rebuild our country," Trump said.

Buhari said the US has offered teams of advisers who are training the Nigerian security forces, and called it "one of the best things the US can do for us, to stabilize the country."

Comment: It's one thing to speak platitudes about "rebuilding our country" and getting out of the imperial business. But if Trump truly wants his words to be more than just that, he needs to pull American troops out of countries halfway around the world and close all the military bases as well.

Security forces run from the site of a suicide attack after the second bombing in Kabul today
Ten journalists have died in Afghanistan in a coordinated double suicide bombing in Kabul and a shooting in the eastern Khost province, on the deadliest day for media workers in the country since the fall of the Taliban.

Nine journalists died in the Afghan capital when they gathered at the scene of the first of two blasts. Ahmad Shah, a BBC reporter, was shot dead in a separate incident in Khost province, near the border with Pakistan.

In Kabul, a suicide attacker riding a motorbike blew himself up in the Shash Darak neighbourhood, near the NATO headquarters and the US embassy, at about 8am. A second bomber, holding a camera and posing as a journalist, struck 20 minutes later, killing rescue workers and journalists, including an Agence France-Presse photographer, who had rushed to the scene. At least 25 people were killed and 45 injured in total.

Iran: US and Saudi partnership bringing instability and war to the region

Tehran

Tehran rejects statements by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo about the alleged destabilizing role of Iran in the Middle East, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said Monday.

Late last week, Pompeo said during his visit to Saudi Arabia said that the United States was deeply concerned about Iran's "destabilizing and malign activities," accusing Tehran of supporting terrorists, arming the Houthis in Yemen and conducting cyber attacks.

"What the US secretary of state has said about the Islamic Republic of Iran's role and presence in some regional countries is just a rehash of baseless claims. The Islamic Republic of Iran's advisory role in the two neighbouring countries comes at the request of their legitimate governments and is in line with fighting terrorism in the region, and this support will continue as long as the two governments need such help to combat terror," Qassemi said in a statement published on the ministry's website.

The press continues to feed the dying Russia collusion conspiracy theory, spending Friday's news cycle regurgitating Democrat talking points from the just-filed Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act lawsuit against the Trump campaign, WikiLeaks, and Russia.

Yet the mainstream media took no notice of last week's federal court filing that exposes an $84 million money-laundering conspiracy the Democratic National Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign executed during the 2016 presidential election in violation of federal campaign-finance law.

That lawsuit, filed last week in a DC district court, summarizes the DNC-Clinton conspiracy and provides detailed evidence from Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings confirming the complaint's allegations that Democrats undertook an extensive scheme to violate federal campaign limits.

Israeli analysis: 'What should we do about Russia's S-300 anti-aircraft system?'

Russian S-300 anti-aircraft system could allow Syria to shoot down planes at Ben Gurion Airport, interfere with IAF operations

Russia is expected to deliver the sophisticated S-300 missile defense system to the regime of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, Russian officials told the newspaper Kommersant last week.

"The S-300 PMU-2 'Favourite' version of the anti-aircraft systems will be provided to the Syrians free of charge and very soon," according to Kommersant.

The news drew a sharp response by Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman who promised Israel would act against the system if it is used against Israeli warplanes or other aircraft.

The delivery of the S-300 system could set Israel on a crash course with the regime of President Vladimir Putin. Russian officials reacted to Liberman's comments by warning Israel will suffer "catastrophic consequences" if it dares to act against the S-300 PMU-2 system.

Defining the military-industrial complex: A collection of leeches, ticks and lampreys

defense spending US
A few thoughts on our disastrous trillion-dollar military:

It is unnecessary. It does not defend the United States. The last time it did so was in 1945. The United States has no military enemies. No nation has anything even close to the forces necessary to invade America, and probably none the desire. A fifth of the budget would suffice for any real needs.

"Our boys" are not noble warriors protecting democracy, rescuing maidens, and righting wrongs. They are, like all soldiers, obedient and amoral killers. Pilots bombing Iraq or Syria know they are killing civilians. They do not care. If ordered to bomb Switzerland, they would do it. This is the nature of all armies. Glamorizing this most reprehensible trades is just a means of usefully stimulating the pack instinct which we often call patriotism.

The military is America's worst enemy. It does enormous damage to the United States while providing almost no benefit. Start with the war on Vietnam that cost hugely in money and lives, ours and their, with no benefit. Iraq: high cost, no benefit. Afghanistan: High cost, no benefit. Syria: High cost, no benefit.

"China is ready to become a driving force" in aid and restoration of Syria - as soon as security situation improves

The Chinese special envoy for Syria has underscored that at least 260 billion dollars in aid money is needed to restore the war-torn Arab country, a task that he said can only be fulfilled through the combined efforts of the entire international community.

Speaking at a news briefing at the Chinese Embassy in Moscow, Xie Xiaoyan, the Chinese Government' Special Envoy on the Syrian Issue, has signaled Beijing's willingness "to do its best" to contribute to ordinary Syrians returning back to normal life.

"Many people have died, millions have lost their homes or become refugees, and they all need humanitarian aid. As a member of the UN Security Council, China has always paid attention to providing humanitarian assistance both to Syrian citizens and refugees in the form of goods, medicine, food and money," Xie stressed.

Comment: While China, Russia, and even Hungary, are finding ways to support the rebuilding of Syria, the West and its cohorts are still searching for any excuse to bomb it:

Democrats' Russiagate report studiously ignores Steele dossier in stark contrast to their early rhetoric

California Rep. Adam Schiff and House Intelligence Committee Democrats.
What a difference a year makes.

At a House Intelligence Committee hearing just over a year ago, Democrats on the panel focused heavily on the infamous Steele dossier, the salacious and unverified report alleging that the Trump campaign conspired with the Russian government to influence the 2016 election.

California Rep. Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the committee, made numerous references to Steele's claims during an opening statement for the hearing, which was held on March 20, 2017

Texas Rep. Joaquin Castro pressed then-FBI Director James Comey about specific allegations made about Trump associates in the dossier, which was written by former British spy Christopher Steele. Indiana Rep. Andre Carson and California Rep. Jackie Speier, two other committee Democrats, also hyped the dossier.

Democrats seemingly had high hopes for the dossier back then. The report, published two months earlier by BuzzFeed News, included damning allegations that if true would likely lead to Trump's impeachment.

Comment: Of course the Democrats want the Steele dossier to slide into the memory hole. It was a collection of what would have been laughable fables, except they were used to commit serious crimes. The granting of the FISA spying warrants executed against members of the Trump campaign hung on the tissue of lies that was the dossier. A lot of people should be running scared.

Question

Were the Skripals exposed to Fentanyl drug? Another theory in the perplexing Salisbury poisoning case

salisbury skripal poisoning
The UK government is definitely conducting a cover up of the actual events around the alleged poisonings of Sergei and Yulia Skripal.

I say "alleged" because there is no actual hard evidence, that we would expect to see, if the Skripal's had actually been poisoned.

There are no pictures on the net of the Skripals collapsed on the park bench. We would expect members of the public to take pictures of such an unusual scene. Salisbury is an affluent mostly middle class town and its Town Centre is definitely not a "Drugs Ghetto" where you see people collapsed in the street all the time.

There are not even any to camera interviews of any members of the public, who the government claim cared for the Skripal's for 15 or 20 minutes before the Paramedics and Ambulance arrived.

There is only one written report in the State Propaganda Organ Fake News BBC of an alleged anonymous doctor, who allegedly claimed to have treated Yulia Skripal and put her in the recovery position at the park bench. The evidentiary value of this BBC report is zero. The BBC lie for the government ALL of the time.
