The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced the end of its combat operations in Yemen, marking a departure from the Saudi-led coalition that has been waging war on the impoverished country.

"Our standpoint is clear: war is over for our troops. We are monitoring political arrangements, empowering Yemenis in liberated areas," Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi and the deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, wrote on his official Twitter account late on Wednesday, quoting earlier remarks by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash.

No explanation has been offered as to why the decision was made.

The UAE had been suffering heavy casualties in Yemen, where Ansarullah fighters and allied military units have been fighting back the Saudi-led invaders.

Switzerland withdraws longstanding application to join EU ahead of Brexit vote

The upper house of the Swiss parliament on Wednesday voted to invalidate its 1992 application to join the European Union, backing an earlier decision by the lower house. The vote comes just a week before Britain decides whether to leave the EU in a referendum.

Twenty-seven members of the upper house, the Council of States, voted to cancel Switzerland's longstanding EU application, versus just 13 senators against. Two abstained.

In the aftermath of the vote, Switzerland will give formal notice to the EU to consider its application withdrawn, the country's foreign minister, Didier Burkhalter, was quoted as saying by Neue Zürcher Zeitung.

Media blackout as Saudi Arabia murders thousands of civilians in Yemen

U.S. President Barack Obama is greeted upon his arrival at King Khalid International Airport for a summit meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia April 20, 2016.
The White House's campaign to establish unconditional control over both national and international media sources manifests itself in a number of ways. These sources only publish article on topics that suit Washington's agenda, while outright ignoring all others.

If you take a look at the coverage of events in Syria, you will inevitably run across heavy criticism of the steps that Russia and the Syrian government are taking, while leaving Turkey's continuous support of ISIS unreported entirely. If you take a look at Western media articles that are covering the situation in Iraq, you will be plunged into a world of bravado-heroism of US actions in this countries, while finding no mention of Washington's role in the creation of the never-ending bloodshed unfolding in Iraq in the first place.

As for the steps that Washington's puppets take, they are rarely mentioned and certainly never criticized, in a bid to avoid Washington's discontent and the subsequent withdrawal of "additional funding" these sources get.

That's the reason you will rarely see any mention of the conflict initiated by the Nobel Peace Laureate US President Barack Obama in Yemen. It's as if over the past 15 months Saudi Arabia hasn't subjected millions of Yemenis to bitter, unbearable suffering through the barbaric bombing of urban areas and civilian infrastructure, using a diverse arsenal of weapons that Washington sold to Riyadh to its full potential. According to a Foreign Policy article, since November 2013, the US Defense Department has authorized more than 35.7 billion dollars in major arms deals to Saudi Arabia.

Doctors, eyewitnesses to RT: ISIS fighters routinely treated in Turkish hospitals

ISIS executioners, scourge of the earth.
Islamic State militants are frequently transported across the Syrian border to Turkish hospitals for treatment, according to eyewitness accounts collected by RT on the ground. Their crossing was allegedly ensured by Turkish officials.

Both Islamic State (IS, previously ISIS/ISIL) and Free Syrian Army fighters were able to cross the border from Syria into Turkey en masse and receive medical help - only to then be allowed to go back to resume fighting in Syria, the head of a local doctors' association told RT's Lizzie Phelan.

Phelan visited Gaziantep, a city in south-central Turkey some 60 kilometers from the Syrian border. Eyewitnesses and doctors told the RT correspondent that most of the IS fighters were treated in the border city of Kilis south of Gaziantep.

"Many wounded ISIS militants or FSA [Free Syrian Army] fighters were brought to the border in pick-up trucks, not ambulances,"Medical Association Chair in Gaziantep and Kilis Hamza Agca said."Many were unconscious and bleeding when they were brought to us."

Sabers rattling louder: NATO orders four additional battalions to Russian border

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is sending 4,000 additional troops to Eastern Europe in the name of reassuring Poland and the Baltic states, the alliance's Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed on Monday. "We will agree to deploy by rotation four robust multi-national battalions in the Baltic states and Poland," Stoltenberg told NATO officials.

The US, Germany and Britain will each contribute 1,000 soldiers, with Canada expected to confirm its own contingent of 1,000. The deployments are among the most provocative actions taken by the NATO high command in the course of its anti-Russian buildup, now well into its second year. With ever greater recklessness, the US and European ruling elites are sowing the seeds of war across the width and breadth of the Eurasian landmass.

The announcement of new troop deployments comes in the midst of Operation Anaconda 2016, involving more than 30,000 NATO forces in the biggest war drill held in Poland since the end of the Second World War. Some 12,500 of the 30,000 soldiers are American.

In Eastern Europe, under the guise of "rotational deployments," NATO has established a permanent military force. Put forth for public consumption as a response to Russian "meddling" in Ukraine and alleged provocations by Russia's military along the frontiers of NATO's eastern member states, the real purpose of NATO's spearhead force is to prepare for a ground invasion across Russia's western border.

Torture state: CIA forced to release post-9/11 torture evidence - will arrests follow?

This Iraqi prisoner in Abu Ghraib was tortured by the CIA and US Army.
Disturbing details of "illegal" torture techniques used by the US government after the 9/11 attacks were revealed by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) following a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

More than 800 pages were released Tuesday, which the ACLU says highlights the "inhumanity of the torture conceived and carried out" by the CIA under the George W Bush administration.

The documents, some of which have redacted content, were previously seen by the elite group of politicians called the Senate Intelligence Committee as part of its probe into the "enhanced" interrogation program.

"It bears emphasis that these records document grave crimes for which no senior official has been held accountable," ACLU deputy legal director Jameel Jaffer said.

Kerry tells Russia our patience on Syria 'very limited'

In this photo released by the Syrian official news agency SANA, Syrians gather around damaged buildings after a bombing attack at the Sayyida Zeinab suburb, Damascus, Syria, Saturday, June 11, 2016.
US Secretary of State John Kerry warned Russia on Wednesday that US patience on the Syria conflict and the fate of its President Bashar al-Assad was running out.

"Russia needs to understand that our patience is not infinite, in fact it is very limited with whether or not Assad is going to be held accountable," Kerry said during a visit to Norway.

Speaking to the Oslo Forum on conflict resolution and mediation, Kerry said the truce "may not succeed" and that Russia, in particular needed to exert more pressure on Assad to respect the ceasefire and allow aid deliveries.

Comment: Russia is delivering aid. What about you Mr. Kerry? Where is your humanitarian aid? All we see is military aid to terrorists.

Kerry also spoke of the challenge of combating extremist groups and terrorism, while rejecting claims that the world is engaged in a "clash of civilizations" between the West and Islam.

"No, this is not a clash of civilizations, this is a struggle between civilization itself and barbarism, between civilization and fundamental raw political exploitations and mix of medieval and modern fascism, together at the same time," he said.

Comment: He must mean civilization as Russia while the US is fascism.

UN report: Ukraine forces guilty of shocking human rights crimes

sbu ukraine
© Mikhail Voskresenskiy / Sputnik
The 13th report of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on the human rights situation in Ukraine between 16 November 2015 and 15 February 2016, when the Minsk Agreements were in force, has come as a shock to Kiev.

According to the UN, more than three million people live in the areas directly affected by the conflict. The exact number of people who have left Ukraine-controlled territory is still unknown, although rough estimates range from 800,000 to 1,000,000 people. The Ukrainian government has estimated that more than a million people have left southeast Ukraine for Russia, Belarus and Europe. This figure does not match that of the Russian federal migration service, however: in 2015, around four million Ukrainians crossed the border, with nearly 2.6 million settling in Russia. More than a million people have arrived from southeast Ukraine. Residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions are permitted to live freely in Russia.

The discrepancy in the figures clearly shows that Ukraine is not interested in keeping track of its citizens, whether within the country or abroad. This means that one of the aims of the military campaign launched in the east of the country is to displace the population from the area of conflict, predominantly to Russia. Given that refugees from the republics to Ukraine are facing discrimination in access to public services, according to the UN report, the authorities in Kiev do not seem to want the residents of Donbass either.

The UN also states that those living close to the contact line (nearly 800,000 people) are particularly suffering, and the lives of these people are constantly at risk. The UN mission believes that the assistance being given to the residents of Donbass is insufficient, even given Russia's humanitarian convoys, although the fact that it was Ukraine that shut down all the social programmes and introduced the 'blockade' unfortunately remained beyond the scope of the report.

Another false flag? Orlando shooter's employer G4S tied to 9/11, Guantanamo Bay

g4s security
© PA Wire.Press Association
The shooting in Orlando on June 12th demonstrated features that were present in many recent terrorist acts. For example the suspect was quickly killed and the official account immediately attempted to blame the attacks on Islam. However, as with most terrorist suspects in the U.S., Omar Mateen had been closely followed by the FBI. He also worked for a company suspected of engaging in prior terrorist events.

Mateen was well known to the FBI. In fact the Bureau had interviewed him several times and had evaluated his potential for terrorism on at least three occasions. This fact is noteworthy considering that both before 9/11, and since then, FBI leaders appear to have facilitated or manufactured terrorist acts.

Although U.S. authorities claim that Mateen pledged allegiance to ISIS "in the midst of the attack," Mateen's family were surprised at the claim that he had any connection to a radical terrorist group. In fact, they said he was not particularly religious.

Comment: Former U.S. diplomat J. Michael Springmann adds:
A major company supplying, inter alia, guard services, risk consulting, and investigations worldwide, [G4S] bought Wackenhut Corp., a similar purveyor of investigations and security services, in 2010. G4S unsurprisingly, has offices in Crystal City in Arlington, Va., a Washington, D.C. suburb known for its ties to the U.S. armed forces and intelligence services.

Wackenhut, begun by George R. Wackenhut, a former FBI official, in 1954, has long had ties to the American armed forces and intelligence services. Some of these include one-time FBI Director Clarence Kelley, past Defense Secretary and CIA Deputy Director Frank Carlucci, previous Defense Intelligence Agency Director Gen. Joseph Carroll, and Adm. Bobby Ray Inman, former Director of the National Security Agency and Deputy Director of the CIA. William J. Casey, before becoming Director of Central Intelligence, was outside legal counsel to Wackenhut Corp.

Terrorism expert and CIA analyst William Corbett noted that Wackenhut had been closely connected to the CIA and other intelligence organizations. According to Corbett, the company would allow the CIA to place "non-official cover" officers (i.e., intelligence officials posing as legitimate businessmen) in the firm to conduct clandestine activity.

Wackenhut was involved in Iran-Contra in Central America in the 1980s, producing and supplying explosives to the Contras in Nicaragua (through the Cabazon Indian Reservation in California).

War profiteers conduct Golan Heights energy grab in violation of international law

Cheney, Rothschild and Murdoch
After concluding the flow testing phase, Afek Oil and Gas will now begin analyzing samples drawn from the Ness-2 drilling site, euphemistically dubbed "Deborah's Well," in the Israeli-occupied region of Syria known as the Golan Heights. New Jersey-based Genie Energy, Ltd., Afek's parent company, claims a dubious cadre of investors cum war profiteers, including Rupert Murdoch, Dick Cheney, Lord Jacob Rothschild, James Woolsey — as well as a number of current and former U.S. politicians.

Prior testing at a separate Afek site did not meet expectations, so the company sought other "sweet spots" in the area. Analysis of samples from additional wells will be performed by Afek scientists in conjunction with "external international experts."

To understand U.S. involvement in the quagmire in Syria, Afek's oil exploration is of critical import.
