Turkish boss Tayyip Erdoğan has begun to open dialogue with Damascus, and has offered his apologies to Russia over the unjustifiable shoot-down of a Russian jet over Syria 7 months ago. Turkey's proxies were also responsible for the followup shoot-down of a rescue helicopter and the murder of a pilot. So far the perpetrator has escaped prosecution in Turkey. Was the sidelining of Davutoglu, formerly PM, also an ambiguous sign, possibly signaling that Turkey is taking a half-step backwards?

On the other side of the globe, disputed imperial claims in the South China Sea have not softened, but China is participating in a grand naval exercise with US forces in the Pacific Ocean. Both sides report the greatest professionalism in the other. The biennial RIMPAC (Rim of the Pacific) naval exercises will involve 27 nations and 25,000 service members, 45 ships, five submarines and more than 200 aircraft. China is among this year's contingent that will operate off the coasts of Hawai'i and Southern California.

Brexit too suggests a further crumbling of the US imperium — at least its imperiousness has been curtailed. The EU, like the ECB, IMF, other members of Greece's enslaving Troika, and the World Bank, are beholden to central banksters and international oligopolists. So are the Warriors of Terror which the US and its satellites have unleashed on the world. Though the US lefty press is in the dark, much of Europe is waking up to the effects of rule by bureaucrats who promise equality, but systematically undermine labor, pensions, and even corporate security, in interest of the banksters. If they truly care about the lower classes, leftists should pray a Frexit follows, even if led by Marine Le Pen. "Remember Greece!" should be the cry. (But see this for the uses the elites make of the Brexit referendum.)

The Islamic State's Amaq News Agency said the attack on the restaurant was carried out by "Islamic State commandos,'' ...says Israeli SITE Intelligence Group.
Gunmen seized a bakery in Dhaka overnight, killing 20 hostages and two officers in a siege that ended Saturday morning, the Bangladeshi military said.

All the hostages killed were foreigners, the military said.

The attackers used guns, explosive devices and "a lot of sharp domestic weapons," said Brig. Gen. Naeem Ashfaq Chowdhury of the Bangladesh army. The hostages' bodies were found after the standoff ended in the country's capital.

Bangladeshi troops rescued 14 hostages, according to Brig. Gen. Mujibur Rahman of the Bangladesh army.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina provided a different number, but officials said the figures are preliminary.

"We were able to save 13 people, we weren't able to save a few," Hasina said at a news conference. Six terrorists were killed and one was captured alive, she said.

One Japanese national and two Sri Lankans were among the hostages rescued, officials from both nations said.

Comment: Let's cut straight to the chase: the Anglo-American-Israeli global terror network is behind this attack, same as all the other ones.

The British in particular have the means and motive to 'create facts on the ground' that justify their continued management of Bangladesh's government deaths squads (now murdering dissidents there for 12 years):

Bangladesh's R.A.B., British proxy terrorist army in Bangladesh
The British government has been training a Bangladeshi paramilitary force condemned by human rights organisations as a "government death squad", leaked US embassy cables have revealed.

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), which has been held responsible for hundreds of extra-judicial killings in recent years and is said to routinely use torture, have received British training in "investigative interviewing techniques" and "rules of engagement".

Details of the training were revealed in a number of cables, released by WikiLeaks, which address the counter-terrorism objectives of the US and UK governments in Bangladesh. One cable makes clear that the US would not offer any assistance other than human rights training to the RAB - and that it would be illegal under US law to do so - because its members commit gross human rights violations with impunity.


Comment: Wow, not even the US government would stoop so low (not openly anyway).

Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri issued a statement warning the United States that if the Boston Marathon bomber, or any other Muslim prisoner, is executed, there will be the "gravest consequences."

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, now 22 years old, was named specifically in the warning. Tsarnaev is currently on death row for the detonation of an improvised explosive device during the Boston Marathon, which killed three people and injured some 280 on April 15, 2013.

"If the U.S. administration kills our brother the hero Dzhokhar Tsarnaev or any Muslim, it... will bring America's nationals the gravest consequences," Zawahri said in the video statement.

Wishful thinking: Slovakia promises Brussels shakedown as it heads EU presidency

Slovakia takes over the rotating presidency of the European Council on July 1 - for the first time - promising an overhaul of the Brussels machine as it struggles to deal with the fallout of Brexit, the migrant crisis and the Eurozone troubles.

Slovakia's presidency comes at a critical time for the EU, with calls for massive reforms to prevent a domino effect, following the decision by Britain to leave the EU amid growing anti-EU sentiment throughout Europe.

Slovakia is no stranger to euroskepticism, being part of the Visegrad group — along with the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland — which has been staunchly opposed to the mandatory relocation of refugees, as proposed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.

An amendment added to Congress' annual intelligence spending bill may help the public gain a better idea of the U.S. government's relationship with Hollywood.

According to VICE News, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), and committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-NC), included an amendment to S. 3017 that would require the Director of National Intelligence to submit reports detailing the relationship between the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) agencies and Hollywood. It would also require 15 other agencies to disclose the nature of their relationships with the film industry. These reports would have to be presented annually to congressional oversight committees.

Between 2006 and 2011, VICE reported, the CIA's Office of Public Affairs (OPA) had a role in at least 22 of the U.S. entertainment industry's projects. Some of the productions listed by VICE included the films Argo and Zero Dark Thirty, television shows like Top Chef and Covert Affairs, and documentaries such as the History channel's Air America and the BBC's The Secret War on Terror. The book, The Devil's Light, also had the help of the CIA.

Comment: It's highly doubtful that this amendment will put a stop to CIA/Hollywood connections however it's a step in the right direction.

This is way beyond a face-palm moment.

Jeremy Corbyn today launched a review into the Labour party's supposed "anti-semitism crisis" - in fact, a crisis entirely confected by a toxic mix of the right, Israel supporters and the media. I have repeatedly pointed out that misleading claims of anti-semitism (along with much else) are being thrown at Corbyn to discredit him. You can read my criticisms of this campaign and Labour's reponse here, here and here.

Comment: The UK media establishment continues to make feeble attempts at discrediting Jeremy Corbyn at any opportunity, and with claims that either entirely false or grossly manipulated.

Brexit may allow stronger UK-Russia trade ties in future

Britain's vote to leave the European Union opens new opportunities for the development of business and trade relations between Russia and the UK, according to the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce (RBCC).

"Uncertainty affects moods of Britons more than Russians... But we expect that the turnover [between Russia and Britain - Ed.] will grow. It is true that London as a financial center may be hampered.. But we see it [Brexit - Ed.] as something that opens up new prospects and new opportunities," Russia's Director of the RBCC Alan Thompson told reporters.

He added that RBCC hopes Russia will once again become one of Britain's trade priorities after the leaving the EU.

Comment: The EU sanctions against Russia are counterproductive and nonsensical, since the countries affected the worst are those in the EU. Placing sanctions against Russia was the equivalent of "shooting oneself in the foot" in this case. Assuming Britain does actually leave the EU, it would be a wise decision to strengthen economic ties with Russia once more.

Palestinians in the Gaza Strip expressed anger and dismay on Monday about the deal normalizing relations between Israel and Turkey that leaves them under a suffocating siege.

An Israeli human rights group that monitors the decade-old Israeli blockade of Gaza has also confirmed that the deal does not end Israel's tight control over the territory that has greatly exacerbated the devastation to Gaza's economy and society from three major Israeli military assaults since 2008.

Turkey put its once close military and political relations with Israel in the deep freeze six years ago, after Israel attacked the Turkish-owned Mavi Marmara as it sailed in international waters as part of a flotilla to Gaza in May 2010, killing nine people and fatally injuring a tenth.

Turkey imposed unprecedented military sanctions on Israel in 2011 over the incident.

Efforts at reconciliation had been stalemated by the conditions demanded by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan: an Israeli apology and compensation over the Mavi Marmara attack and an end to the siege of Gaza.
