Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has warned of regional threats to the interests of both Tehran and Ankara, calling for boosting bilateral ties in all sectors.

President Rouhani said in a Thursday phone call with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan that using national currencies in economic transactions could accelerate Tehran-Ankara relations.

Rouhani also stressed that Iran-Turkey ties should reach a strategic level in all fields.

An Israeli F-16 fighter jet crashed in the country's north after Syria responded with anti-aircraft fire to an Israeli operation targeting Iranian control systems in Syria, IDF said.

"Massive Syrian Anti-Air fire, one F16 crashed in Israel, pilots safe," IDF spokesman Jonathan Conricus said on Twitter.

The incident took place after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) intercepted an Iranian UAV, which crossed from the territory of Syria into Israel. In response, the Israeli military attacked Iranian positions in Syria. The operation triggered anti-aircraft fire by Syrian forces.

Iran & Syria 'are playing with fire,' Israeli military warns amid flare-up of tensions

RT, Sat 10 Feb, 2018
The IDF warned Syria and Iran against 'violating Israeli sovereignty,' otherwise they would pay a heavy price. The Israeli military also insisted that Israel does not seek an escalation in tensions in the region.

"Iran and Syria are playing with fire," the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement on Twitter. The military added that it acts "with determination" against "the attempt of the Iranian-Syrian attack and the violation of Israeli sovereignty. The IDF is prepared for a variety of scenarios and will continue to act as necessary."

The IDF lashed out at the Syrian military, accusing the state of interference in the Israeli-Iranian incident, as well as at Iran for "using Syria as a launchpad for activity against Israel."

However, the IDF insisted that Israel does not seek escalation with the two states. "We are willing, prepared and capable to exact a heavy price from anyone that attacks us, however we are not looking to escalate the situation," the IDF said, insisting that what they've done was merely "a defensive effort triggered by an Iranian act of aggression and we are defending our airspace our sovereignty and civilians."

Jermey Corbyn 'planning coup' against May, telling Brussels he envisions 'very different' Brexit

Leader of the Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn
As Prime Minister Theresa May struggles to find consensus between feuding Tory factions over Brexit, Jeremy Corbyn is said to be planning his own "very different" deal, secretly negotiated with senior EU diplomats.

The Labour leader, along with Shadow Brexit Secretary Keir Starmer, met with EU chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier in London, where Corbyn is reported to have promised to run negotiations "very differently," a memo from the meeting seen by the Telegraph reveals.

Corbyn is understood to have told Barnier he would be willing to push for Britain to stay in the customs union, despite the PM's repeated assertion to the contrary.

Colin Powell's former chief of staff: 'I helped sell the war on Iraq. It's happening again.'

colin powell and nikki haley
The New York Times was one of the main forces in America pushing for the Iraq war, including planting misleading information in many stories in extremely suspicious circumstances.

The only reason we can imagine that they would publish an Op-Ed like this now is because they knew Wilkerson would run it in the alt-media anyway, and publicize the fact that The Times refused to run it. It creates a smokescreen of credibility to cover their relentless, pro-israel war-mongering.

by Lawrence Wilkerson, New York Times

Fifteen years ago this week, Colin Powell, then the secretary of state, spoke at the United Nations to sell pre-emptive war with Iraq. As his chief of staff, I helped Secretary Powell paint a clear picture that war was the only choice, that when "we confront a regime that harbors ambitions for regional domination, hides weapons of mass destruction and provides haven and active support for terrorists, we are not confronting the past, we are confronting the present. And unless we act, we are confronting an even more frightening future."

US Nuclear Posture Review all but admits that the 'unipolar moment' is over

Review admits 'Great Power competition' has returned

The US Nuclear Posture Review is a seminal document, not just because of the nuclear weapons build up it speaks of - worrying though that is - but because it represents a formal admission by the US that the so-called 'unipolar moment' - the period after the end of the Cold War when the US enjoyed unchallenged global dominance - is over.

So far from being the world's unchallenged and unchallengeable 'hyperpower' and world hegemon, the US admits that it is now once again just one of three Great Powers - the US, Russia and China - albeit that it still considers itself to be the strongest of the three.

The Review admits this unambiguously. One of its chapters is straightforwardly entitled "The Return of Great Power competition".

This chapter, the single most important in the whole document, has this to say

US President Donald Trump says he has signed a spending bill into law, bringing an end to the temporary government shutdown. He confirmed the move in a tweet early Friday.

"Our Military will now be stronger than ever before. We love and need our Military and gave them everything - and more," the president said.

Former President George W. Bush praised the inflow of illegal and legal immigrants to the United States, saying Americans should "say 'Thank you'" to migrants and "welcome them."

Addressing a summit in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Bush criticized President Trump's decision to end the President Obama-created Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which gave temporary amnesty to nearly 800,000 illegal aliens.

"America's their home," Bush said, according to the Associated Press. "They've got to get it fixed."

Bush also explained how he tried to pass amnesty for millions of illegal aliens during his time in the White House, echoing the talking points often used by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and big business lobby to continue the inflow of more than one million mostly low-skilled illegal and legal immigrants to the country every year.

"There are people willing to do jobs that Americans won't do," Bush told his Arab audience. "Americans don't want to pick cotton at 105 degrees (Fahrenheit), but there are [migrant] people who want put food on their family's tables and are willing to do that. We ought to say thank you and welcome them."

However, many Americans pick cotton, often in very high temperatures, using American-made machinery.

Russia’s permanent UN envoy Vasily Nebenzya says efforts to accuse Moscow of involvement in chemical attacks, allegedly carried out by the Syrian governmental forces, are shameful
The efforts to accuse Moscow of involvement in chemical attacks, allegedly carried out by the Syrian governmental forces, are shameful, Russia's permanent UN envoy Vasily Nebenzya said following the meeting on UN Security Council on Thursday.

When asked to comment on respective media reports, he said: "I don't want to use non-parliamentary expressions to answer your question. It is a shame. These reports are a shame."

"These chemical episodes intensify and start to happen out of the blue when something positive is going on in the political front. That is clear for us as well," the diplomat said.

CIA director John Brennan has been lying to you and to the Senate. Fire him

This is not the type of guy who is going to resign because of some report he doesn't like; this is the type of spy who apologizes even though he's not sorry, who lies because he doesn't like to tell the truth.
Private apologies are not enough for a defender of torture, the architect of America's drone program and the most talented liar in Washington. The nation's top spy needs to go

As reports emerged Thursday that an internal investigation by the Central Intelligence Agency's inspector general found that the CIA "improperly" spied on US Senate staffers when researching the CIA's dark history of torture, it was hard to conclude anything but the obvious: John Brennan blatantly lied to the American public. Again.

"The facts will come out," Brennan told NBC News in March after Senator Dianne Feinstein issued a blistering condemnation of the CIA on the Senate floor, accusing his agency of hacking into the computers used by her intelligence committee's staffers. "Let me assure you the CIA was in no way spying on [the committee] or the Senate," he said.

After the CIA inspector general's report completely contradicted Brennan's statements, it now appears Brennan was forced to privately apologize to intelligence committee chairs in a "tense" meeting earlier this week. Other Senators on Thursday pushed for Brennan to publicly apologize and called for an independent investigation. Sen. Ron Wyden said it well:

Comment: Brennan may be an ex-CIA officer who then scored a media gig with NBC, but that hasn't stopped him from meddling in domestic and foreign policy.

Phone call between Putin and Erdogan amid possibility of renewed fighting in Syria

Turkish President Erdogan and Russian President Putin
Deteriorating situation in Syria prompts urgent talks between Russian and Turkish leaders amidst suggestions of a summit with Iran

As I predicted a few days ago, the rapidly deteriorating situation in Syria has prompted an urgent telephone call between Russian President Putin and Turkish President Erdogan.

The Kremlin's summary of the call does not make clear who initiated the call. However most likely it was the Russian leader.

Since President Putin visited Syria in December and announced a limited withdrawal of Russian forces there, the situation in Syria has spiralled downwards.
