Puppet Masters
"We've been watching Russia for a long time. We're not surprised," said Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White following Vladimir Putin's state of the nation address. Putin had unveiled a new Russian strategic arsenal that he said was bound to make Washington stop looking down on Moscow. Russia's new deterrent, Putin said, is invulnerable to interception.
"America is moving forward to modernize our nuclear arsenal and make sure our capabilities aren't being matched," White bragged in response.
The FBI and DOJ have trampled on the Constitution
We've watched for months now as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has been exposed as the behemoth of corruption and criminal wrongdoing in America, misusing the tools available at their discretion to harass American citizens and violate their Constitutional rights.
By using the now-infamous Fusion GPS Dossier, which was funded directly by Hillary Clinton's campaign for President and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) as a grounds to submit a FISA warrant application, the FBI essentially branded itself as an arm of the Democratic Party, and that's outright terrifying.
Comment: That Nunes is committed to the investigation and that Flynn was set up is clear. The author however, may be overly optimistic about the prospects for a real investigation, even with facts as glaring as has been recounted. Only time will tell if Sessions is as noble. or Trump as clever, as the author seems to think.
As the House Minority Leader spoke to reporters in Thursday, she repeatedly used the wrong word in sentences, awkwardly correcting herself so she was clear to the journalists.
Speaking about new gun control legislation, she said there is a "commensurate bi-partisan - common sense bi-partisan supp, uh, path forward."
Moments later, she repeated words and mistakenly said "tax force," before enunciating "task force."
Comment: No one wants to support Pelosi as she is clearly losing touch with reality, and not quite all there anymore. See also:

Why it matters: Yemen has been completely torn apart by the conflict between the Houthi rebel forces and the Saudi-led coalition which supports President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi. The U.S. military has been supporting the Saudi coalition since the Obama administraiton.Sanders, Lee, and Murphy argue that Congress did not approve involvement, and therefore the U.S. should not be involved "beyond providing desperately needed humanitarian aid."
Comment: Since when did the US wait for congress' approval to wage war? And since when were any of the wars they were engaged in 'emergency situations'? And ISIS is the US proxy army in the Middle East who were created to achieve their imperialist goals, so why would the US be interested in actually destroying them?

More and more evidence continues to pile up that special counsel Robert Mueller is on the warpath to terminate the presidency of Donald Trump, regardless of the fact that there is no evidence of collusion or criminal behavior that would delegitimize his electoral victory.
Mueller is reportedly asking witnesses whether President Trump knew about the alleged state-sponsored hacking of Democratic emails and Clinton campaign chief John Podesta during the 2016 presidential campaign.
The revelation, first reported by NBC News, may disturb supporters of the president who perceive the Mueller probe as a political witch-hunt against the president.
The report claims Mueller is asking witnesses "whether Trump himself knew then that Clinton's campaign chairman John Podesta ... had already been targeted."

Russian President Vladimir Putin delivers his annual Presidential Address to the Federal Assembly
Head of the Upper House Foreign Relations Committee Konstantin Kosachev told RT that the parliamentary address that Vladimir Putin delivered on Thursday could share the fate of Putin's 2007 historical speech in Munich.
"Just as the Munich speech was mispresented as an aggressive and assertive one, analysts will seek messages in this speech which will present Russia again as an aggressive and assertive country," the senator said.

Taking advantage of the new venue's better multimedia capabilities, Putin announced that Russia has developed a number of advanced weapons systems, including a nuclear-powered cruise missile which render all US capabilities aimed at undermining the Russian nuclear deterrent - including its anti-missile systems - obsolete.
At the risk of being called cold or harsh, let me begin by saying every American has a right to his/her opinion on just about any issue. Including guns.
Now that we've got that out of the way, let me add this: the people playing partisan politics on the graves of the 17 innocent dead people from Douglas High School are despicable. I don't care what age they are.
Over the last couple of weeks, a variety of conservative voices have gotten in trouble for insinuating that the anti-gun protesters coming out of Douglas High School seem far too practiced to simply be grieving students.
Benjamin Kelly, a district secretary for Florida GOP Rep. Shawn Harrison, was fired after wondering if the anti-gun students were actually just "crisis actors." Yes, Kelly went too far. Yes, he spoke to soon about a subject that was far too raw, and he should have known better. But in his defense, the anti-gun student leaders simply seemed too prepared to respond to such a horrible disaster.
Once the students were proven to not be "crisis actors," others began to wonder if they had someone training them.
'Of course not,' we were told.
The students were "born online," so they're better able to handle the media spotlight, and Douglas High School simply has an excellent debate program, which helped prepare these kids to speak in public about important issues. I kid you not. The Miami Herald seemed to actually believe that a school debate program could prepare grieving children to speak on international television in such a calm and direct fashion as to make everyone wonder if they'd done this before.

In an interview with NBC's Megyn Kelly in Moscow, Putin said his earlier comments that Russian ballistic missiles could penetrate any missile defense systems on the planet were not a declaration of a new "cold war" as some defense analysts suggested.
The network operator issued the warning on Thursday, saying it might not have enough gas to meet demand due to the current cold snap gripping the UK.
The warning was a call to the market to boost supplies.
Comment: The FT reports:
Supplies of gas in Britain came back into balance overnight after National Grid, the company in charge of the energy network, had signalled the country could run out of gas amidst the freezing temperatures.Being a loyal US lackey and all round chaos creator, Britain has thwarted any possibility of cheap and reliable gas from Russia both through sanctions and blocking infrastructure projects in Europe. If the people of Britain can't cook their food, heat their homes, and end up paying predatory rates for their energy, they only have themselves and their demented leaders to blame:
The warning by National Grid on Thursday had helped to send prices for within-day gas as high as 350p a therm in the afternoon.

Putin wants to end poverty? Putin wants to stimulate economic growth in developing countries? Putin wants to change the system that divides the world into "permanent winners and losers"? But, how can that be, after all, Putin is bad, Putin is a "KGB thug", Putin is the "new Hitler"?"It is essential to provide conditions for creative labor and economic growth at a pace that would put an end to the division of the world into permanent winners and permanent losers. The rules of the game should give the developing economies at least a chance to catch up with those we know as developed economies. We should work to level out the pace of economic development, and brace up backward countries and regions so as to make the fruit of economic growth and technological progress accessible to all. Particularly, this would help to put an end to poverty, one of the worst contemporary problems."
-- Vladimir Putin, President Russian Federation, Meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club
American liberals would be surprised to know that Putin actually supports many of the same social issues that they support. For example, the Russian President is not only committed to lifting living standards and ending poverty, he's also a big believer in universal healthcare which is free under the current Russian Constitution. Naturally, the Russian system has its shortcomings, but there has been significant progress under Putin who has dramatically increased the budget, improved treatment and widened accessibility. Putin believes that healthcare should be a universal human right. Here's what he said at the annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club:
"Another priority is global healthcare.... All people in the world, not only the elite, should have the right to healthy, long and full lives. This is a noble goal. In short, we should build the foundation for the future world today by investing in all priority areas of human development." (Vladimir Putin, President Russian Federation, Meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club)
