Puppet Masters
Maddow's disdain for the incumbent US president, and her propensity to speculate that Trump may be a Kremlin puppet bent on destroying the Western world to please Russian President Putin, is well-documented. In Thursday's episode of her show, the MSNBC anchor bemoaned Trump's threats to withdraw from NATO and how his abrasive manners were offensive to other allies. No mention was made of Trump berating Germany over energy cooperation with Russia, though.
Then she interviewed a guest about Trump's upcoming meeting with Putin in Helsinki, Finland, asking in a most peculiar manner what the Russian leader may want from it.
To understand this, we first need to realize that fascism is a revolutionary movement, in the tradition of the French Revolution. As Goldberg puts it,
...the French Revolution was the first totalitarian revolution, the mother of modern totalitarianism, and the spiritual model for the Italian Fascist, German Nazi, and Russian Communist revolutions. A nationalist-populist uprising, it was led and manipulated by an intellectual vanguard determined to replace Christianity with a political religion that glorified "the people," anointed the revolutionary vanguard as their priests, and abridged the rights of individuals.Revolution isn't exactly a conservative talking point, now is it? Or consider an early program of Mussolini, "the father of fascism": some of the things these early fascists wanted included a lowering of the minimum voting age, the end of the draft, the repeal of titles of nobility, a minimum wage, building "rigidly secular" schools for the proletariat, a large progressive tax system... in other words, a classically leftist platform. Fascism was, in a sense, a Bolshevik revolution minus internationalism. Consequently, many American progressives at the time were full of praise for Mussolini. Hitler was similarly anti-capitalist and anti-conservative. Writes Goldberg:
The Nazis rose to power exploiting anticapitalist rhetoric they indisputably believed. Even if Hitler was the nihilistic cipher many portray him as, it is impossible to deny the sincerity of the Nazi rank and file who saw themselves as mounting a revolutionary assault on the forces of capitalism. Moreover, Nazism also emphasized many of the themes of later New Lefts in other places and times: the primacy of race, the rejection of rationalism, an emphasis on the organic and holistic- including environmentalism, health food, and exercise- and, most of all, the need to "transcend" notions of class.Goldberg leaves no doubt that fascism - both Mussolini's classical fascism and Hitler's Nazism - but also communism as fascism's equally-evil-twin - is in essence collectivist, anti-capitalist, anti-religion (except that it can use religion sometimes to further its aims), wants to control everything in the name of welfare, progress and for the "good of the people", uses science as a sort of priestly class to provide justification for the leaders of "the movement", hates the individual and always seeks to advance the collective... yep, exactly the Orwellian nightmare we see today, mostly on the left.
Standing next to May during a joint media conference, Trump repeatedly stressed his "tremendous respect" to his host and made assurances that the UK and the US were especially close under his administration.
"I would say I would give our relationship in terms of grade the highest level of special," Trump said. "Now, after two days with your prime minister, I would say the highest level of special. "Am I allowed to go higher than that?" he added, turning to May.Trump said the British were "very special people" and their country was "very special", and he valued the relationship because his mother was born in Scotland, among other things.
Commenting on what he told The Sun about May rejecting his suggestions on how to handle Brexit, Trump said May probably "found it too brutal".
Comment: "...the special relationship [US-UK] is considered shameful by some critics, who say in essence it means that the UK simply does Washington's bidding in things like the Iraq invasion of 2003... "
No one was twisting UK's arm for involvement in Iraq. The UK willingly shared the 'glory' for the debacle and Tony Blair has a lot to answer for as does G.W.Bush. No excuses for the US, but England was a global bully long before the US came on the scene.

Roger Stone, a longtime political adviser and friend to President Donald Trump, speaks during a visit to the Women's Republican Club of Miami, May 22, 2017, in Coral Gables, Florida.
The indictment by special counsel Robert Mueller targets 12 Russian intelligence officers for engaging in a sustained effort to hack Democrats and aides to Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign. All 12 defendants are members of Russia's intelligence service, according to the court filing.
The reference to a "U.S. person" who "was in regular contact with senior members of the presidential campaign of Donald J. Trump" describes emails exchanged with alleged conspirators, who were posing as the mysterious hacker Guccifer 2.0. In the brief exchange, the hacker told the Trump ally: "Thank u for writing back...do u find anyt[h]ing in the docs i posted?'"

Sometimes reality is stranger than fiction. The following so stretches credulity that sources will have to be cited and an exact quotations given to be believed.
According to the source involved in overseeing the entire military operation for the last years of war in Syria, "President Assad was very clear in his answer to the US establishment. Syria - said Assad - is determined to liberate the entire Syrian territory regardless of the consequences. There is of course a price to be paid to obtain the liberation of north Syria which is occupied by both the US and Turkey, neither of whom were invited by the Syrian government: this price is worth it".
The American message is clear: "The US will leave al-Tanf crossing and abandon north-east Syria in al-Hasaka and Deirezzour as soon as possible. The only condition is for Russia and Syria to guarantee a total withdrawal of all Iranian forces from the Levant. The US is ready to leave the Kurds and let these continue their negotiation with Damascus. The US establishment will recognise Assad's authority over Syria but Iran must leave".
Assad responded: "Iranian forces and their allies came to Syria under an official request by the central government and will leave when this government asks the allied forces to leave, and only when all terrorists have been eradicated from the Levant".
"Rosenstein threatened to 'subpoena' GOP-led committee in 'chilling' clash over records, emails show," reported Catherine Herridge at Fox News. She quoted from multiple e-mails congressional staff sent to the House of Representatives' Office of General Counsel after a January 2018 meeting with Rosenstein:
Russia's defense ministry confirmed that South Korean planes escorted two Tu-95MS strategic bombers and Su-35S aircraft as they conducted a regular flight over "neutral waters" of the Yellow Sea and the Sea of Japan and the western part of the Pacific Ocean. At various stages of the route the Russian warplanes were escorted by South Korean F-15 and F-16 fighter jets and Japanese F-2A war planes, according to the statement.
South Korea says two Russian military planes entered four times its air defense identification zone (KADIZ) over the Yellow Sea and the Sea of Japan and flew away following warnings on Friday afternoon.
The incident prompted South Korean Ministry of Defense to summon Russia's military attaché to South Korea, Andrey Falileev, the Yonhap agency reported on Saturday. The ministry's deputy director-general for international policy, Park Chul-kyun, told Falileev that the move "will not help efforts to stabilize the Korean Peninsula as well as Northeast Asia." Citing the possibility of mid-air collision, he called "to prevent such incidents from happening again."
The next battle will be decisive in ending all pockets outside the authority of the Damascus government. Despite this fact Israel is still trying to intervene in the Syrian south, resisting any acceptance of the status quo: the years of war are over on its borders, and Syria is regaining the control of its territory. Actually, it is also the Israeli officials who are breathing their last in the Syrian war, which is nearing its end. What will remain to be liberated is the US & Turkish occupied North of Syria.
But the failure of the regime change is not hitting only Israel but the entire assembly of pundits in Arab and western countries. Daraa al Balad (the place where the first the slogan was raised in 2011 "Allawites to the coffin and Christians to Beirut" (Alawi ila al-Tabut wal Masihi ila Beirut)), has capitulated to the Syrian Army, who are in control of 85% of the province of Daraa. The Syrian Army is also advancing in ISIS & Huran controlled territory and is taking control of the high ground in order to pound the terrorist group's position. The sound of bombardment is heard in the occupied Golan Heights, under the nose of the Israeli Army - which is incapable of changing the course of this next battle.
Sources in the Syrian capital say that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to Moscow will only weaken Israel's position, revealing not only President Putin's intention not to meet the demands of his Israeli guest, but also that Israel's reference in Syria, as it has not resorted to its traditional ally (the United States), has become Moscow, not Washington.
Comment: Yesterday the Syrians completely liberated the city of Daraa. All that remains are the pockets of FSA/al-Qaeda/ISIS along the border with occupied Golan. See: Where it all began: Syrian Army liberates Daraa from western-backed terrorists
