Russian MoD has video proof of Turkey shelling civilian homes on Syrian border

The Russian Defence Ministry obtained video proof of Syrian civilian areas being shelled from Turkish border posts, Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.

The Russian Defence Ministry expects an explanation from NATO, Pentagon and Turkish Armed Forces on the incident. The corresponding statement was made on Monday by the Ministry's spokesman Igor Konashenkov.

Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov demonstrated the video depicting a part of the Syrian-Turkish border during the press-conference.

"This facility is a Turkish border outpost, which did not have any firing points a few months ago," he said.

New Russian Su-35S fighter jets start combat missions in Syria

The advanced supermaneuverable Su-35S multirole fighters began combat missions in Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry spokesman said Monday.

"Supermaneuverable Su-35S fighters started to carry out military tasks last week", Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov told journalists.

He noted that all Russian warplanes have recently been conducting operations with an obligatory cover provided by Russian and Syrian fighter jets as wells as modern air defense systems including the S-400 Triumf.

Ukraine's authorities have urged a French broadcaster to take a documentary titled "Masks of Revolution" off the air. They claim the movie misrepresents Maidan events, and have a list of their own suggestions for what needs to be shown.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry in their Facebook statement went as far as to urge Canal+ TV to overhaul their editorial policy.

The film is scheduled to be shown on February 1.

"Paul Moreira strips the masks of modern-day Ukraine and carries out an investigation on the firing line of the new 'Cold War' between the East and the West," the synopsis posted on the Canal+ website reads.

The film is a special investigation carried out by Paul Moreira, which covers the events in Ukraine over 2014: the far-right radical groups allegedly backed by the US, as well as the deadly violence in the southern Ukrainian town of Odessa.

Comment: These Maidan orcs are something else aren't they?!

In less fascist times, the French TV channel would ignore this request.

But today, the Ukies might actually succeed in having the documentary banned.

German far-right leader: Police should 'have right to' shoot refugees illegally crossing border

The leader of 'Alternative for Germany' (AfD) - a German Eurosceptic, anti-migration party - has said that police should have the right to use firearms, if necessary, to prevent migrants and refugees from crossing the German border illegally.

Frauke Petry, one of AfD's leaders, has called for a high fence to be built on Germany's border with Austria, saying that police must prevent illegal migrants and refugees from breaching it by all possible means - including the use of fire arms.

"No policeman wants to fire on a refugee, and I don't want that either. But as a last resort, there should be recourse to firearms," Petry said in an interview with Mannheimer Morgen, a German newspaper.

The proposal was supported by another prominent AfD member, Beatrix von Storch, who wrote on her Facebook page that, according to German law, anyone who violates the German border while ignoring a border guard's order to stop is an attacker.

Comment: The rise of a far-right party in Germany, a de-humanized minority religious/ethnic group, and implied threats to summarily execute people.

UK & US authorities preparing to send 1,000 more soldiers to Libya

US and UK authorities are piling pressure on Libya to take in 1,000 British troops, allegedly to bolster its defenses against Islamic State (Daesh) militants, British media said Monday.

Libya has been mired in a civil war since the overthrow of its long-time leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. Power vacuum caused numerous militant groups to rise to power around the country, particularly Daesh, which has been carrying out attacks on Libya's oil infrastructure.

London and Washington have been sending their military and diplomats to find allies among Libya's rival governments and militia forces that would agree to receive assistance from British troops in the fight against an estimated 3,000 Daesh militants in the country, The Times said.

Belgium and France will convene a joint extraordinary summit on the measures to counter terrorism, as well as the migrant crisis in Brussels on Monday.

The summit will be held at the Chateau of Val Duchesse, famous for a number of important formal meetings, including the first European Commission meeting in 1958 and the Belgo-British Conferences in the 2000s.

The purpose of the summit is to address and improve bilateral cooperation in the fight against terrorism and to develop more effective collaboration on migrant camps on the French-Belgian border.

Comment: Considering that Brussels instituted martial law due to an undisclosed "imminent threat" after the Paris attacks in November and that Paris itself rapidly devolved into a police state after the attacks as well, one has to wonder what, exactly, these two are planning for this summit. Putin ratifies law to write off Mongolia's $174 million debt

President Vladimir Putin has ratified a law to write off Mongolia's $174-million debt to Russia, according to a document published on the official Russian website for legal information on Sunday.

The bill was signed in Moscow in December 2010 and took six years to go through all stages of pre-legislative scrutiny.

Mongolia's outstanding debt to Russia was a major hurdle for deeper investment cooperation between the two nations.

Russian companies seek to increase their presence in Mongolia's construction and mineral production markets. The July 2010 deal between Moscow and Ulaanbaatar cleared the way for Russian business and guaranteed $3.8 million as a one-off repayment from Mongolia.

As stocks continue to crash, you can blame the Federal Reserve, because the Fed is more responsible for creating the current financial bubble that we are living in than anyone else. When the Federal Reserve pushed interest rates all the way to the floor and injected lots of hot money into the financial markets during their quantitative easing programs, this pushed stock prices to wildly artificial levels. The only way that it would have been possible to keep stock prices at those wildly artificial levels would have been to keep interest rates ultra-low and to keep recklessly creating lots of new money. But now the Federal Reserve has ended quantitative easing and has embarked on a program of very slowly raising interest rates. This is going to have very severe consequences for the markets, but Janet Yellen doesn't seem to care.

There is a reason why the financial world hangs on every single word that is issued by the Fed. That is because the massively inflated stock prices that we see today were a creation of the Fed and are completely dependent on the Fed for their continued existence.
