'Clintons won't forget what their friends have done': WikiLeaks release 6th batch of Podesta emails

WikiLeaks has released a sixth batch of emails from Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman John Podesta. The leak contains a total of 1,812 messages.

The whistleblowing site released two batches of emails yesterday, with today's leak bringing the total number of emails released to around 9,000.

Podesta's Twitter account and email was hacked on Wednesday after the fifth Wikileaks email release.

Iranian warships deployed off Yemen coast after US strikes Houthi targets

Iran has deployed a fleet of warships to the Gulf of Aden, according to the Tasnim news agency. The deployment follows US cruise missile strikes on Yemeni positions thought to be under Houthi rebel control.

The Iranian Navy has sent the warships to international waters for a mission that includes entering the area off the southern coast of Yemen, Tasnim reported on Thursday. The area is among the world's busiest maritime trade routes.

"Iran's Alvand and Bushehr warships have been dispatched to the Gulf of Aden to protect trade vessels from piracy," Tasnim reported earlier, as quoted by Reuters.

HSBC's technical-analysis team has thrown up the ultimate warning signal.

In a note to clients released Wednesday, Murray Gunn, the head of technical analysis for HSBC, said he had become on "RED ALERT" for an imminent sell-off in stocks given the price action over the past few weeks.

Gunn uses a type of technical analysis called the Elliott Wave Principle, which tracks alternating patterns in the stock market to discern investors' behavior and possible next moves.

Comment: Over the past few weeks and months we have been seeing multiple and increased warnings from the economic/financial field (both governmental and private) suggesting drops, "crashes," and failures of all kinds. What's worse, is that all of these changes to the various sectors are occurring more or less simultaneously. If there is anything that can be done to prepare for such eventualities - if only to cushion the blow - now would seem to be a good time to do so.

Russia & US to discuss possible steps for Syria crisis settlement in Lausanne on Saturday

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov

Russia and the US will meet with regional powers to discuss possible steps for Syria crisis settlement on October 15 in Lausanne, Switzerland, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"According to the agreement between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry, the meeting of foreign ministers of Russia, the US and key regional states to consider possible additional steps to create conditions for the settlement of the Syrian crisis will take place in Lausanne on October 15," the statements reads.

Besides Lavrov and Kerry, the chief diplomats from Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Iran will also take part in the talks.

The Lausanne talks were initially announced by Lavrov, who expressed hope in his interview with CNN that the meeting "will launch a serious dialogue on the basis of the principles contained in the Russian-American deal, which was broadly welcomed but which unfortunately was not launched."

The American people need to understand what's going on in Syria. Unfortunately, the major media only publish Washington-friendly propaganda which makes it difficult to separate fact from fiction. The best way to cut through the lies and misinformation, is by using a simple analogy that will help readers to see that Syria is not in the throes of a confusing, sectarian civil war, but the victim of another regime change operation launched by Washington to topple the government of Bashar al Assad.

With that in mind, try to imagine if striking garment workers in New York City decided to arm themselves and take over parts of lower Manhattan. And, let's say, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau decided that he could increase his geopolitical influence by recruiting Islamic extremists and sending them to New York to join the striking workers. Let's say, Trudeau's plan succeeds and the rebel militias are able to seize a broad swathe of US territory including most of the east coast stretching all the way to the mid-west. Then - over the course of the next five years - these same jihadist forces proceed to destroy most of the civilian infrastructure across the country, force millions of people from their homes and businesses, and demand that President Obama step down from office so they can replace him with an Islamic regime that would enforce strict Sharia law.

How would you advise Obama in a situation like this? Would you tell him to negotiate with the people who invaded and destroyed his country or would you tell him to do whatever he thought was necessary to defeat the enemy and restore security?

By Wednesday, WikiLeaks has released over 7,000 e-mails sent or received by Podesta, offering glimpses into the workings of the Clinton campaign, as well as the Podesta-founded Center for American Progress.

Clinton's associates have reacted angrily at the releases, with her campaign spokesman Brian Fallon accusing WikiLeaks of being "a propaganda arm of the Russian government running interference for their pet candidate, Trump."

Here is a list of ten strange things about the Democratic presidential hopeful found in the leaked e-mails.

1. Attitude towards 'everyday Americans'

One e-mail has in particular generated much debate, revealing that Clinton hates "everyday Americans" - or that particular phrase, anyway.

"I know she has begun to hate everyday Americans, but I think we should use it once the first time she says I'm running for president because you and everyday Americans need a champion," Podesta wrote to Clinton's Director of Communications Jennifer Palmieri in April 2015.

Terrorists shell Russian Embassy in Damascus for 2 hours - no casualties reported

The Russian Embassy in Damascus was shelled for 2 hours on Wednesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Stating that no one was injured in the shelling, the ministry said the embassy's territory was covered in bomb splinters. The ministry has strongly condemned the attack - the second one on the embassy this month.

"On October 12, starting from 11:30am, the neighborhood in Damascus where the Russian Embassy is located was subjected to mortar fire for nearly two hours from the Jobar district controlled by extremists," an official statement from the Foreign Ministry says.

One of the shells exploded in the immediate vicinity of the security post of the diplomatic mission, and another not far from the entrance to the Consular Section. Two mortar shells detonated a few hundred meters from the fence of the Embassy, the statement detailed.

The US military has carried out a series of "limited self-defence strikes" in Yemen, the Pentagon has announced. The attack, authorized by President Obama, was carried out in retaliation to recent attacks on the US naval destroyer, USS Mason.

Comment: That was very probably a 'false-flag' incident, if indeed the Mason actually came under attack at all. The Saudi-Gulf States 'coalition of the head-choppers' is losing to the Yemeni rebels, so the US is stepping in to lend its 'gas station' allies a helping hand.

According to the Pentagon's initial assessments, three "radar sites" in the Houthi rebel-controlled area of Yemen were destroyed in the attack.

The attack on coastal targets was carried out by Tomahawk cruise missiles launched from the destroyer USS Nitze, NPR reported. According to US officials all targets were "in remote areas, where there was little risk of civilian casualties or collateral damage."

The Philippines' president is determined to end joint patrols with the US in the South China Sea to avoid actions which China might deem hostile. The leader has also reiterated his vow to chart independent foreign policy without breaking existing treaties.

Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte ordered a halt to joint patrols between the Philippine Navy and the US Navy because he did not want his country to take part in activities which could be perceived as hostile by Beijing, presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said, according to the Inquirer.

He made a similar statement last month, stating that his country would end the joint patrols because he did not want the Philippines to be dragged into a conflict between the US and China over dominance in the disputed waterway.

Duterte also reiterated his desire to end joint war games between the US and the Philippines on Wednesday, while speaking during the Philippine Coast Guard anniversary.
