Puppet Masters
The United Nations debate on Disarmament and International Security Agenda took place amid escalating tensions between the two bordering nations. During the debate, the Permanent Representative of Pakistan, Tehmina Janjua, accused India of "hegemonic policies" and "military domination" ambitions.
US vassal state Germany approves first steps in trade deal with Canada, precursor to horrendous TTIP
Opponents object to parts of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) will be implemented before all national parliaments in the EU have voted on it.
Germany is now clear to vote on CETA next week, which will need unanimous support from all 28 members of the bloc. If approved, it can be signed on October 27.
Campaigners against CETA, including rights groups Campact, Foodwatch and More Democracy have collected almost 200,000 signatures from Germans to protest the trade pact. The fear is that CETA will violate workers' rights and the agreement serves the interests of the wealthy elite.
Comment: This all spells bad news for Germany and most of Europe - effectively shackling themselves to elite corporate agendas - unless smarter and braver heads prevail. See:

"Now we can talk about more than 10,000 people [former militants] who went through the reconciliation process since the beginning of the conflict, and they came back to peaceful life. Part of them joined the Syrian army," the minister said.
The GCC also pledged to provide Turkey with support against the supporters of Gulen, the Daily Sabah media outlet reported.
Earlier on Thursday, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu met with his Saudi counterpart Adel al-Jubeir in Riyadh.
Comment: Interesting development considering who the members are: Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), political and economic alliance of six Middle Eastern countries—Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman. The GCC was established in Riyadh, Saudia Arabia, in May 1981.
A great conflict has been taking place during the past few months whether we like it or not. Both the American and the Russian government continue to act against one another.
For starters, the dispute regarding the South China Sea is one of these causes. After all, the U.S is the one who ended more damaged.
"There are no plans for military action. We are working with the international community to look at how to bring the conflict to an end," May's spokeswoman said when asked about Johnson's comments. A range of options are available, she added.
The spokeswoman's comments contradict those of May's foreign secretary, who addressed the Foreign Affairs Committee early on Thursday. "It is right now that we should be looking again at the more kinetic options, the military options," said Johnson. "But we must be realistic about how these in fact work, and what is deliverable."
Comment: Boris Bonus: Zakharova responding to another piece of Boris BS:
During the press-conference on Thursday Zakharova said that the spreading of "lies", threats of "further sanctions" and an increasing military presence near Russian borders Washington continue "to destroy Russian-American relations."
The official noted that such US policy is extremely dangerous and potentially jeopardizing international peace.
"There is growing perception that the outgoing US administration applies 'scorched earth' policy in bilateral relations. This is a dangerous policy which is fraught with negative consequences for international stability. That will not lead to anything good," she said.
"More than 9,000 Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS, ISIL) militants will be redeployed from Mosul to the eastern regions of Syria to carry out a major offensive operation, which involves capturing Deir ez-Zor and Palmyra," the source said.
According to the anonymous diplomatic source, US President Barack Obama has already sanctioned an operation to liberate Mosul, due to take place in October.
During the storm of the city in northern Iraq, the US-led coalition's planes would only strike detached, vacated or uninhabited buildings, while keeping terrorists as targets, he said.
Comment: Given all that we've learned about the strategic alignment of the US (and its allies) with ISIS/ISIL/Daesh, would it surprise you to learn that they're literally coordinating military actions - directly - with 'the Islamist terrorists'?
If true, it fits right in with the plans the U.S. and its allies have had all along. From the 2012 DIA memo:
THERE IS THE POSSIBILITY OF ESTABLISHING A DECLARED OR UNDECLARED SALAFIST PRINCIPALITY IN EASTERN SYRIA (HASAKA AND DER ZOR), AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THE SUPPORTING POWERS TO THE OPPOSITION WANT, IN ORDER TO ISOLATE THE SYRIAN REGIME.Update: Said Mamuzini, a representative for Iraqi Kurdistan's KDP, confirmed a version of this to Sputnik:
According to him, the Iraqi Army and Kurdish Peshmerga forces are completing preparations for the offensive, including deployment of heavy weapons to Mosul's borders. In other words, the terrorists will have a "humanitarian cover" - civilian human shields - for making their way to safety. If they travel into Syria, will they be identifiable as militants, opening them up to air strikes? Or will they be able to join in the assault on Deir ez-Zor?
The Kurdish forces have received military assistance from the West for the operation. In particular, Germany provided them with Milan anti-tank missile systems. France and the United States are supplying heavy weapons to Kurds. French aircraft will be involved in the operation, Mamuzini said.
According to him, the offensive will be divided into three stages. The first stage will include the liberation of villages outside the city. Then, the army and the Kurdish forces will enter Mosul and clear the outskirts of jihadists. Finally, the city will be completely liberated.
"Nevertheless, during the operation a corridor will be left for terrorists to escape to Syria. Those retreating this way will not be captured. Currently, there are some 7,000 Daesh militants. But the operation is not expected to be long because the terrorists are not as strong as before," he said.
Moreover, the operation could cause mass displacement of Mosul residents. Currently, the population of the city is 1.3 million. It is expected that up to one million people might leave Mosul.

President Rodrigo Duterte speaks during a gathering of businessmen in Pasay city, Metro Manila, Philippines, October 13, 2016
Speaking to a group of businessmen on Thursday, Duterte seemed confident that he would not only be able to answer any questions, but would put investigators on the spot as well.
"I've been a trial lawyer for many years, I'll play with you in public,"he said, speaking at Pasay City. "I'll ask five questions that will humiliate you. I'll ask ten questions where you will agree with me."
"You wait for it, you watch it all. It will be good. It will give you entertainment," he said.
We analysts were responsible for picking up warnings from Moscow and other key capitals that the U.S. news media often missed or downplayed, much as the major news outlets today are ignoring the escalation of warnings from Russia over Syria.
For instance, Russian defense spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov warned on Oct. 6 that Russia is prepared to shoot down unidentified aircraft - including any stealth aircraft - over Syria. It is a warning that I believe should be taken seriously.
It's true that experts differ as to whether the advanced air defense systems already in Syria can bring down stealth aircraft, but it would be a mistake to dismiss this warning out of hand. Besides, Konashenkov added, in a telling ex-ante-extenuating-circumstance vein, that Russian air defense "will not have time to identify the origin" of the aircraft.

Comment: Neither India nor Pakistan have signed the nuclear treaties. The poor relations between India and Pakistan is further exasperated by India snubbing Pakistan's peaceful efforts. But both countries should beware of US intentions: India's geopolitical hate for Pakistan is being used by the US to sabotage the North-South Transport Corridor
