Psychopathic Laws: New Regulation Bars Palestinians and Immigrants from Using Israeli Courts

Israeli Justice Minister Yaakov Neeman has enacted a new regulation that effectively limits the ability of Palestinians and immigrants to file lawsuits in Israeli courts.

According to the Israeli daily Ha'aretz, the new regulation would require anyone filing a claim in Israeli courts to provide their Israeli ID number or foreign passport number. Palestinians from the occupied territories or stateless individuals without passports would effectively be banned from filing grievances with the courts when this order goes into effect on September 1.

Comment: What hope is there for a nation which designs laws and regulations to protect abuse and injustice? And what will the future hold for a world that does not denounce such psychopathic behavior? Reading the history of Nazism should make the answer rather obvious.

The man who fatally shot six people at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin was identified today as Army veteran Wade Michael Page, 40, who washed out of the military in 1998 after a six-year hitch.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, a group that has studied hate crimes for decades, says on its website that Page was a frustrated neo-Nazi who had been the leader of a racist white-power band known as End Apathy.

Heidi Beirich, director of the center's intelligence project, tells the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that her group had been tracking Page since 2000, when he tried to purchase goods from the National Alliance, a well-known hate group.

Comment: Then again there may have been three more shooters according to a witness.

Newark TSA screeners lose woman who 'tested positive for explosives' and allow her to leave on a plane for Cleveland... and then put the airport on lock down and cancel 100 flights

TSA screeners at Newark Liberty International Airport lost a woman who reportedly tested positive for explosives on Sunday and only put the airport on lock-down when she boarded a flight to Cleveland, Ohio.

Earlier in the day, the Transportation Security Administration at the airport misplaced a piece of checked luggage that had also tested positive for explosives and couldn't find it for 45 minutes. The bomb squad cleared the oversize bag -- but only two and a half hours after it was discovered.

The security failures caused more than 100 flights at the busy airport to be cancelled and dozens more delayed as furious passengers waited for hours -- only to learn their planes were not going to take off. About 8.45am, a woman slipped through a TSA checkpoint at Terminal C before being fully screened.

Fox 5 New York reported that the woman was flagged in a preliminary test for explosives. The TSA refused to comment on the report that possible explosives were involved.

"Suicide Bomber" in Nigeria Kills Six Soldiers, One Civilian

Kano - A suicide bomber in a car rammed into a military patrol on Sunday in the northeastern Nigerian city of Damaturu, killing himself, at least six soldiers and a civilian, authorities said.

"He detonated the bomb he was carrying in his car, killing himself. Six soldiers were also killed, nine others were injured and are in hospital," Patrick Egbuniwe, the Yobe state police commissioner, told AFP.

"One civilian was killed and another one injured," he added.

A statement purportedly from a spokesman for radical Islamist group Boko Haram claimed responsibility for the attack, saying the bomber detonated the explosives when soldiers tried to stop him at a checkpoint.

Egbuniwe said the bomber was being chased by a military patrol vehicle and the driver detonated the bomb and blew himself up when soldiers closed in on him.

A security source said the attacker rammed into a multiple vehicle military convoy, affecting two of the vehicles.

Damaturu is the capital of Yobe state, which has been hard hit by attacks blamed on Boko Haram.

Sunday's attack follows a suicide bomber's attempt to assassinate Yobe state's top traditional Muslim leader, the Emir of Fika, on Friday.

A meeting of envoys from the Non-Aligned Movement due to convene in the Israeli-occupied West Bank was scrapped on Sunday after Israel refused to admit four attendees from states with which it has no diplomatic relations, Palestinian officials said.

The envoys were due to sign a declaration backing the Palestinians ahead of their planned campaign to win recognition as a state at the United Nations next month.

Israel barred the foreign ministers of Malaysia and Indonesia along with ambassadors from Cuba and Bangladesh on the grounds the four countries do not recognize the Jewish state.

Palestinian officials said the other conference guests, including the foreign ministers of Egypt and Zimbabwe, were granted clearance to attend but declined in solidarity with the barred envoys.

Toll of "Suicide Attack" Rises to 45 in Yemen

The death toll from a suicide bombing in southern Yemen rose to 45 on Sunday, officials said, in the latest attack against militias allied with the army.

The bomber, suspected of being a member of Al Qaeda, struck late Saturday during a funeral service attended by members of civilian militias that helped the Yemeni Army in a campaign to recapture the town of Jaar from Qaeda militants in June.

The United States considers the Yemeni branch of Al Qaeda to be the most dangerous in the terrorist network. American advisers have been helping Yemen's military in its campaign, and Yemenis say the United States has been carrying out drone strikes against the militants.

Yemen's state news agency, Saba, said 30 people died in the Saturday attack and 40 were wounded. But a security official and a medical official said that 45 people were killed in the attack. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to reporters. Saba said most of the victims were members of the civilian militias allied with the army.

16 Egyptian Guards Killed at Sinai Border Crossing

Image
© The Associated Press/Haggag SalamaEgyptian President Mohammed Morsi, shown here Friday in Luxor, called for an emergency meeting with the military after the border attack.
Masked gunmen killed 16 Egyptian soldiers Sunday at a checkpoint along the border with Gaza and Israel, the first such attack on troops - and then the attackers drove off, crashing into Israel, officials said.

Egypt blamed Islamist militants from Gaza and Egypt's troubled Sinai Peninsula. President Mohammed Morsi said the attackers "will pay dearly."

The Israeli military said the attack was part of a plot to abduct an Israeli soldier, and two vehicles commandeered by the attackers crashed into Israel, where one blew up.

In a statement, Israel's Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Israel's military and the internal security agency "thwarted an attack that could have injured many. The militants' attack methods again raise the need for determined Egyptian action to enforce security and prevent terror in the Sinai."

The attack took place around sunset in the Egyptian border town of Rafah, when the troops were having the traditional meal at the end of the daily fast during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Egyptian state TV said the attack on the checkpoint was carried out by Islamist militants. The report said 16 troops were killed in the attack coordinated between Palestinians who entered Egypt from Gaza and Egyptians in Sinai.

Emergency services official Ahmed el-Ansari told Egypt's news agency that seven were wounded by gunfire.

Comment: Whenever such attacks occur, the first thing we should ask ourselves is 'who benefits?'. Also keeping in mind the track-record of those involved in the incident.

US, Israel Arranging Roles in Iran War Theater?

Reports are surfacing of a US-Israeli plan to attack Iran's ballistic missile batteries, giving Israel extra space to tackle Syria and Hezbollah. While no talks have been confirmed, anonymous sources claim that war plans have been put to paper.

While it's unclear how far-reaching the US and Israeli plans are, some say the allies have detailed intentions to destroy the Islamic Republic's ballistic missiles - and let Israel launch an assault on Syria and Hezbollah to boot.

An anonymous US military source told DEBKAfile, a website covering Israel-related security issues, that the US Air Force will be tasked with destroying Iran's Shahab-3 ballistic missile batteries. Each of these missiles has a range of 1,280 kilometers (800 miles), making them capable of reaching Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Upgraded versions of the Shahab-3's can reach targets 2,000 kilometers away. In the past, Iran has warned that its missiles will always be ready to launch in case of an attack.

By destroying the Shahabs-3's, Israel would be able to focus its energy on taking on perceived threats from Syria, Lebanon's Hezbollah and the Palestinian Hamas, without having to worry about an attack from Iran, the official told DEBKAfile.

Russia Reportedly Sending Warships with Marines to Syrian Waters

Moscow - Amid the continued uprising in Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry on Friday issued somewhat contradictory statements about a group of its naval warships steaming into the eastern Mediterranean.

The first statement said the warships were not planning to call on Tartus, a naval base Russia maintains in Syria. The second, issued several hours later, said it was possible that service boats from the group might call on Tartus to replenish supplies "if the time period of the trip is extended."

Earlier in the day, Interfax quoted an unnamed Defense Ministry source as saying three landing assault ships, an anti-submarine ship and four smaller vessels might call on Tartus by Sunday. The ships are carrying a contingent of about 360 marines and amphibious armored personnel carriers.
