Facebook takes down Bolsonaro video over false vaccine claim

Facebook late on Sunday removed a video by Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro from its platforms, in which the far-right leader made a false claim that COVID-19 vaccines were linked with developing AIDS.

"Our policies don't allow claims that COVID-19 vaccines kill or seriously harm people," a Facebook spokesperson said on Monday.

According to the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS (UNAIDS), COVID-19 vaccines approved by health regulators are safe for most people, including those living with HIV, the virus that causes the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome AIDS.

In July, Alphabet removed from Bolsonaro's YouTube channel videos in which the Brazilian president recommended using hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin against COVID-19, despite scientific proof that these drugs are not effective in treating the disease.

Since then, Bolsonaro has avoided naming both drugs on his live broadcasts, saying the videos could be removed and advocating "early treatment" in general for COVID-19.

Comment: Facebook has become one of several gatekeepers invested in narratives, not facts. It wants you to think that to refute its claims is futile. OANN is a mouthpiece, not a research network. It reports what it is told - and apparently so does Brazil's president.

Three children were recently injured in a protest outside a school while parents and teachers have been receiving letters with false information about the COVID-19 vaccines.

Exclusion zones around schools could be used to prevent "idiot" anti-vaxxers from targeting children with their "vicious lies", the health secretary has said.

Sajid Javid said the protesters are doing "so much damage" and it was "heartbreaking" that three children were injured during a recent protest after COVID-19 vaccines were opened up to 12-15-year-olds.

He told Sky News' Kay Burley: "You've got, frankly, these idiots outside their school spreading vicious lies. It is becoming a growing problem as time goes by."

Comment: In other words, the UK government is prepared to charge ahead with its program, regardless of the real science or the parents' concerns.

Microsoft claims Russian hackers behind new SolarWinds attacks on US-based systems, allegation unconfirmed by other cybersecurity sources

The Russian-based agency behind last year's massive SolarWinds cyberattack has targeted hundreds more companies and organisations in its latest wave of attacks on US-based computer systems, Microsoft said in a blog post.

Microsoft, in a blog post dated October 24, said Nobelium's latest wave targeted "resellers and other technology service providers" of cloud services. Those attacks were part of a broader campaign over the summer, Microsoft said, adding it had notified 609 customers between July 1 and October 19 that they had been attacked.

Comment: Cyber security experts Kaspersky have already revealed that the CIA is capable of covering its tracks to make attacks like this look like other groups. Kaspersky also commented that, whilst every country is attacking each other online, Russia's hackers are some of the best in the business. It's also notable that there's a glaring lack of evidence and confirmation from other sources that these hackers were indeed Russian.

It remains to be seen, but it's more probable that these lame hacks are part of a larger campaign by the Build Back Better bunch and their associates who, back in 2020, at an event sponsored by the World Economic Foundation, warned of coming 'cyberpandemics'; and it just so happens that not long after this warning, there's been a surge in cyberattacks, mostly against the US, and often blamed on foreign actors. Why are other countries not also suffering similarly? Are they just more expert at repelling them? Or is it that these attacks actually serve to further an agenda by these same groups warning about them?

Note that the WEF & BBB's are made up of similar people and groups who, amidst a supposedly 'deadly coronavirus pandemic' - of which Bill Gates of Microsoft fame is heavily invested - decided that now was an opportune time to roll out their dystopian Great Reset agenda. This Week With George Stephanopoulos said, "The controversy on if the U.S. is funding risky covered research in Wuhan, was kicked up again this week when the NIH released a letter about that research that showed that the subcontractor had not disclosed some results in a timely manner. Some have seized on that to say you, and others misled the public. The NIH says that is false. Our medical unit backs that up, but Senator Rand Paul steps up that criticism in the interview with Axios on HBO. Let's play that."

New Zealand Prime Jacinda Ardern smiled during an interview late last week when saying that she was effectively creating two different classes of people in her country that have different levels of freedom depending on whether they are vaccinated.

The New Zealand Herald reported last week that Ardern had "announced the country would move into the new traffic light system when each District Health Board has 90 per cent of its population with both doses of the vaccine."

"So, you've basically said, this is gonna be like, well it's almost like, and you probably don't see it like this, [inaudible] two different classes of people, if you're vaccinated or if you're unvaccinated," an interviewer said to Ardern. "You have all these rights if you are vaccinated-"

"That it is what it is," Ardern quickly responded as she smiled. "So, yep. Yep."

Rand Paul (R-KY) slammed Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the Chief Medical Advisor to the President, on Sunday over a new letter from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) about whether the NIH ever funded gain of function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

On Wednesday, the NIH sent a letter to members of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce that acknowledged two facts. One was that EcoHealth Alliance, a New York City-based nonprofit that partners with far-flung laboratories to research and prevent the outbreak of emerging diseases, did indeed enhance a bat coronavirus to become potentially more infectious to humans, which the NIH letter described as an "unexpected result" of the research it funded that was carried out in partnership with the Wuhan Institute of Virology. The second was that EcoHealth Alliance violated the terms of its grant conditions stipulating that it had to report if its research increased the viral growth of a pathogen by tenfold.

Comment: At this point, he ought to be fired from a cannon.

Tensions between Russia and NATO are at an all-time high. But instead of seeking a way off the ladder of escalation, the US-led bloc's new plan for hybrid war risks accelerating an already dangerous lethal arms race with Moscow.

There's a concept in international relations, almost one of the first that students learn, called the 'security dilemma'. It's hardly rocket science, but it's something governments and armed forces planners seem to consistently forget when it comes to making policy.

The idea is basically this: Country A feels threatened by country B; it therefore takes some measures - such as increasing its defence spending - to make itself more secure; but when country B sees what country A is doing, it in turn feels threatened, and so takes reciprocal measures of its own. The result is that country A ends up less safe than it was to start with.

It's been decades since I first read 1984, but it clearly is a book for our current cultural and political moment. I bought a copy at a used book store the other day and the tattooed and purple-haired young lady at the register gave me a curious glance. She commented, "Oh, I've had other people asking about this book. Why are you reading it now?"

I wasn't going to get into a discussion about current events, but I couldn't entirely stop myself. I said, "Well, it just seemed timely."

"It just..." She hesitated. "It just seemed like the right time?"

"Yes," I answered, realizing this was definitely not a conversation I wanted to have. "It seemed like the right time," I said, to which she responded with a mistrustful look.

It was almost, but not quite, a conversation from Orwell's dystopian novel, where truth can barely be hinted at, and then carefully covered over, never stated outright.

Israeli defense minister Benny Gantz declared six prominent Palestinian human rights groups to be "terrorist organizations" on Friday.

The defense ministry order accuses the groups of serving "as an arm of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine," a leftist political party banned by Israel, the US and the European Union due to its opposition to normalization with Israel.

Some of the six targeted groups - Al-Haq, Addameer, Defense for Children International Palestine, the Union of Palestinian Women Committees, the Union of Agricultural Work Committees and the Bisan Center for Research and Development - have cooperated closely with the International Criminal Court in its war crimes probe in the West Bank and Gaza.

Gantz's conduct may come under ICC scrutiny as he twice perpetrated major massacres of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, as army chief of staff in 2014, and as defense minister earlier this year, when he vowed that "no person, area or neighborhood in Gaza is immune."

Mary Lawlor, the UN special rapporteur on human rights defenders, reacted to the "disturbing news" on Friday by saying that "human rights defenders are not terrorists and should never be smeared like this."

The targeted groups include "key partners" of the UN Human Rights Office in the West Bank and Gaza.

Jack Dorsey may have to censor himself after the Twitter CEO tweeted that hyperinflation will soon grip the US and global economies. The observation, which does not align with the mainstream media narrative, drew pushback online.

"Hyperinflation is going to change everything," Dorsey said on Friday night. "It's happening." When Nigerian businessman Tayo Oviosu - who, like Dorsey, is a cryptocurrency enthusiast - noted that inflation is already soaring at a 16% annual rate in his country, the Twitter co-founder replied, "It will happen in the US soon, and so the world."

Comment: Dorsey is reading the signs right. Biden is set for a Press Release...(printing press, that is).
