Lavrov sees no sign US is seriously battling Al-Nusra and calls for no-fly zone over Aleppo suspicious

Russia can't see that the US is seriously fighting militants from the Al-Nusra terrorist group in Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, adding that, though American fighter jets make a lot of flights, they don't hit many targets.

Moscow "doesn't see any facts that the US is seriously battling Al-Nusra [now known as Jabhat Fateh al-Sham]," Lavrov said in an interview aired on Channel One Russia on Sunday.

Russia is also suspicious about Washington's calls for Russia and the Syrian Air Force to cease their bombing runs against terrorists in Aleppo, the Russian Foreign Minister said.

All talk, no action: US to 'immediately review' support for Saudi-led coalition after Yemen funeral bombing

The White House has announced an "immediate" review of US support for the Saudi-led coalition in wake of a funeral hall bombing in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, that left over 150 dead and hundreds injured.

Comment: Now more than 200 are dead and over 500 injured:
According to Al Mayadeen broadcaster, the death toll reached 213 people, while earlier reports suggested that some 82 were killed and 534 more sustained injuries.

Washington, which has been a major arms supplier to Saudi Arabia, appears to have distanced itself from Saturday's devastating bombing that took place amid Saudi-led airstrikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen, saying it was "deeply disturbed" and promising to review its military support for Riyadh.

In a statement, White House National Security Council spokesman Ned Price said that a "troubling series of attacks striking Yemeni civilians" had prompted the US to rethink its position.

Comment: With Yemen's hospitals, wedding, and funerals being bombed, the US should have done this 'rethinking' a long time ago.

"We have initiated an immediate review of our already significantly reduced support to the Saudi-led coalition and are prepared to adjust our support so as to better align with US principles, values and interests, including achieving an immediate and durable end to Yemen's tragic conflict," the statement said.

Comment: So nothing much will be done unless the Houthis bow down to US and Saudi Arabia.

Comment: The world is doing absolutely nothing to stem the violence against Yemen but in fact keep feeding it:

Syrian Army advances in Northern Hama amid terrorist infighting

syrian arab army
Soldiers of the Syrian Arab Army
On October 9, the Syrian army and the National Defense Forces (NDF) continued operations in northern Hama amid the ongoing infighting among various terrorist groups in the area. After securing Qarah, Khafseen, Ash Sha'ta, Tulaysiyah, Qahira and Umm Turaykiyah, the army and the NDF advanced in the direction of Tamat al-Khalifah, Qubaybat Abu al-Huda and Kubbariyah. The strategic local town of Ma'an remains the main goal of the ongoing counter-offensive by the pro-government forces.

Even the liberation of all these areas will not allow the army and the NDF to reverse all gains that had been made by the joint forces of Ahrar al-Sham, Jund al-Aqsa. the Free Syrian Army and Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) in the province. However, the ongoing counter-offenisve is setting a ground for stabilization of the situation in Hama. This goal is also important amid the ongoing operations in Aleppo.

SOTT Exclusive: Barbaric did you say? How dare you so savagely mistreat that word!

Viking Ship
© UnknownThe Vikings sailing to take over the British Isles for some barbaric activity.
When the Irish-born US representative to the UN, Samantha Power, used the word 'barbarism' to describe the Russian counter-terrrorism efforts in Aleppo in Syria, it got me really annoyed. How dare she misuse that word. Being a Dane and with a strong Viking ancestry, I think, I am in some position of authority to say what is 'barbaric' and what is not. We Danes were the Barbarians and my ancestors undoubtedly had much fun in those days sailing around raping and pillaging the world, or spreading "freedom and democracy" as it now is called. So to hear that some of the descendants of some of those Vikings, the Angles and the Saxons, who went over in the 5th century to take the British Isles, have so forgotten the meaning of the word, that they call the killing of head-chopping terrorists 'barbaric' is truly sad.

Let me remind the readers of what the word barbaric really means.

When the mercenaries of the US-led coalition in 2011 bombed Libya back to the stone age and lynched its sovereign leader, Gaddaffi, THAT was barbaric.
Gaddafi Lynching

When Hillary Clinton then cackled about it in vicious delight, THAT was barbaric!

Wikileaks released a bombshell document on Saturday showing strategies to align the DNC and the Hillary Clinton campaign by promoting — not criticizing — the field of Republican opponents, particularly highlighting Donald Trump.

From the memo addressed to the DNC under the heading, "Our Goals & Strategy":
Our hope is that the goal of a potential HRC campaign and the DNC would be one-in-the-same: to make whomever the Republicans nominate unpalatable to the majority of the electorate. We have outlined three strategies to obtain our goal ...

About humanity: The World is silently watching!

Mother and daughter

As much as has been said and written about the global refugee crisis, there is always more to add. There is need to raise more awareness of this unheralded phenomenon, with the hope that the effort might help press the action button in some corner of the world. The situation is getting out of control and each country is blaming others for the status quo. Little is being done to address this global affliction, and the measures adopted are either scarce and inadequate, or disproportionate to the situation at hand.

The scale of the Problem

The United Nations Refugee Agency, UNHCR, says 24 people were forced to flee their homes every minute in 2015, with the total number of displaced people hitting a record 65.3 million. Over 40 million of them were on the move within their own countries, while more than 21 million were refugees.

As per the 1951 Convention on the Status of Refugees, a refugee is someone who risks being persecuted in their country of origin for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion. All contracting states are obliged to provide protection to refugees. As a complement to the Convention, the European Union has introduced "Subsidiary Protection" covering persons who face the risk of indiscriminate violence in armed conflicts.

Editorial: George Soros's "From America with Love" letter promises Putin a Maidan - but the old man is dreaming

putin soros
Anyone who follows the activities of George Soros knows that this ardent and consistent enemy of Russia is characterized by an unhealthy obsession with vivid gestures and symbolic actions. He does not hesitate to directly appeal to leading world politicians and even tries to publicly dictate political decisions to the leaders of such countries as Germany or Greece and even sometimes swings out at and chastises the European Commission.

Soros could easily be mistaken for the village psycho who has simply seized the opportunity to publicly express his overvalued ideas, but things are not so simple. After all, it is he who sponsored numerous "color revolutions" in many countries. He very well might be a psycho, but he is an influential and dangerous psycho.

This time, the American oligarch has, with great geopolitical ambition, decided to appeal to Russians with the call to unite and oppose the war crimes supposedly being perpetrated by the Russian Army in Syria. I don't think that it is a coincidence that this appeal was aired by the media on October 7th, the birthday of the Russian president. I believe that this was a kind of birthday greeting for the Russian president, whom Soros essentially promises will suffer the fate of Serbia's Milosevic.

Foreign Secretary Yasay explains why the Philippines wants to break away from US: 'America has failed us'

Duterte
The Philippines's top diplomat said President Rodrigo Duterte is seeking an independent foreign policy for the country because "America has failed us" in the decades since it gained independence from its former colonial master.

"The United States held on to invisible chains that reined us in towards dependency and submission as little brown brothers not capable of true independence and freedom," Foreign Secretary Perfecto Yasay said in a statement distributed on Thursday by the Department of Foreign Affairs. "Breaking away from the shackling dependency of the Philippines to effectively address both internal and external security threats has become imperative in putting an end to our nation's subservience to United States' interests."

The US has remained the Philippines closest ally since it gained independence in 1946 and the two countries have several defense treaties. However in his three months since taking office, Duterte has frequently called into question the future of the alliance, including a recent comment that joint maritime drills that kicked off this week will be the last. He has indicated he is open to closer relations with China and willing to hold direct talks with Beijing about territorial disputes in the South China Sea.

Emergency UN Security Council meeting on Aleppo going nowhere - Russia vetoes French ceasefire resolution

UN security council
Russia's proposed United Nations Security Council resolution which called for Al-Nusra Front terrorists (al-Qaeda) to be evacuated from the city of Aleppo in order to advance peace failed with several Western countries refusing to support it.

On Saturday, Russia proposed an alternative United Nations Security Council resolution on the crisis in Syria's Aleppo that called for Al-Nusra Front terrorists to be evacuated from the city in order to allow peace and reconciliation efforts between the Syrian government and the so-called moderate rebels to advance, but that proposal died on the floor with the Western bloc of the UN refusing to support the proposal. The idea behind the proposal is based on observations by the United Nation's Envoy to Syria who viewed the removal of the notorious terrorist group that was formerly Syria's al-Qaeda affiliate as a positive step that should be taken and a potential precursor to bringing down the growing level of violence in the besieged city of Aleppo. The Russian proposal only received four votes in favor while nine countries voted against it and two countries abstained so a veto was not needed to stop the vote.

Nothing to hide: Russia intentionally exposed sending Iskander missile systems to Kaliningrad

Moscow made no secret of sending Iskander missile systems to Russia's Kaliningrad region as their moving within the country is a standard army practice, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, media reports cited a source in the US intelligence saying that Russia was deploying Iskander-M mobile missile systems in Kaliningrad. "First of all, the people behind this hype need to know that Iskander ballistic missile system is mobile. As part of the plan of combat training, missile troops units are engaged in march training on a year-round basis, covering great distances of the Russian territory in various ways: by air, sea, and on its own power," Konashenkov said.
