Puppet Masters
I've been reading the Twitter timeline of Elijah Magnier, who is one of the most astute observers of both Hezbollah and the Syrian conflict. He believes the assignment of blame to Syrian rebels is deliberate disinformation. I'm inclined to agree.
Israel has assassinated as much of the top Hezbollah leadership as it can over the years. It killed Abbas Musawi, the top leader who preceded Hassan Nasrallah. It assassinated Imad Mugniyeh and later, his son. It's also assassinated Syrian generals and IRG commanders in Syria. That's why you shouldn't believe the nonsense the world media offers about Israel's alleged neutrality in the Syria conflict.
When someone as senior as Mustafa Badreddine is assassinated, it doesn't happen by coincidence and not via an artillery shell. It's a deliberate, targeted assassination - well-planned and executed with sophisticated weaponry. There is only one power in the region capable of doing this, and with a history of doing it in the past: Israel.
By the way, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights noted that there had been no artillery shelling of the airport for days before the assassination there.
Magnier adds another tantalizing piece of information: that only 30 minutes before his murder, Badreddine met with Iran's top IRG commander, Qassem Soleimani in the same location where he died. If so, whoever killed the Hezbollah commander likely knew Soleimani was there and chose not to kill him. If Israel did it, the reason would be clear: killing Iran's top military commander would necessitate a huge Iranian response. It would threaten to destroy the Iran nuclear deal at the heart of Barack Obama's legacy. If the U.S. knew about the plans for this attack (and given the NSA's penetration of foreign intelligence services, including Israel's, that's entirely possible), it would warn Israel not to kill Soleimani. But it would not care about Badreddine, since he and Mugniyeh were instrumental in attacks against U.S. interests in Lebanon in 1982. In assassinating Osama bin Laden, Obama has shown not just willingness, but eagerness to murder Islamists who've killed Americans. In fact, it's the worst aspect of the outgoing president's legacy.

This comes as the U.S. 'policy' in Syria is coming apart at the seams. Their 'friend and ally' Turkey has been exposed as arguably the biggest supporter of ISIS/Daesh in Syria. The U.S. is feebly trying to maintain that the terrorist groups it supports are 'moderates'. But unwilling to admit defeat, the U.S. seems keen on taking the world down with it in perhaps the biggest case of suicidal hubris the world has ever known.

As significant, Mr. Adelson, a billionaire based in Las Vegas, has decided that he will significantly scale back his giving to congressional Republicans and direct most of his contributions to groups dedicated to Mr. Trump's campaign. The two Republicans familiar with Mr. Adelson's plans spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

Temer gives a whole new meaning to the idea of rule by the 1% because Temer has a 1% approval rating. Rousseff has been suspended from office for 180 days while the impeachment process continues. Brazil has joined the list of successful recent coups in Honduras, and Paraguay. Like the people of Argentina the people of Brazil are about to be reminded of what it means to be ruled by neo-liberal Hyenas.
For the people of Brazil the battle has only begun. The 1964 coup in Brazil installed a brutal military dictatorship and was only the first of many coups that would leave the entire region under the fascist rule of Operation Condor's network of military juntas. The people of Brazil and of all of Latin America are in deadly danger. By this act the US has signaled that even minor reforms like those carried out by Brazil's workers party are unacceptable. Nothing must be allowed to impede the looting and impoverishment of the planet at the hands of the multi-national corporations.
The announcement comes after the Polar Group food and beverages producer stopped making beer last month.
"We must take all measures to recover productive capacity, which is being paralyzed by the bourgeoisie. Anyone who wants to halt [production] to sabotage the country should get out, and those who do must be handcuffed and sent to the PGV [Venezuelan General Penitentiary]," Maduro said Saturday as quoted by the BBC.

All White Male Cabinet
Senate-imposed president Michel Temer unveiled his cabinet Thursday and his choices are drawing criticism for failing to represent Brazil's diversity.
Temer's cabinet has no women, no Black ministers, no one who identifies as gay, lesbian, or trangender, nor anyone representing social movements or any other of Brazil's minority groups.
Even Senator Cristovam Buarque, who voted in favor of impeachment, expressed surprise at Temer's choices for his cabinet, posting on his Twitter account: "Seems strange to me a cabinet without women, without representatives from minority groups or social movements."
Temer's cabinet, while all men and all white, also includes seven ministers who are under investigation for their alleged role in the Petrobras corruption scandal.
Conspiracy theory' is a term that strikes fear and anxiety in the hearts of most every public figure, particularly journalists and academics. Since the 1960s the label has become a disciplinary device that has been overwhelmingly effective in defining certain events as off limits to inquiry or debate. Especially in the United States, raising legitimate questions about dubious official narratives destined to inform public opinion (and thereby public policy) is a major thought crime that must be cauterized from the public psyche at all costs... CIA Document 1035-960 played a definitive role in making the 'conspiracy theory' term a weapon to be wielded against almost any individual or group calling the government's increasingly clandestine programs and activities into question. - From CIA Document 1035-960
The EU's principal objective is to create a powerful superstate resembling that of the Nazi leader, Boris Johnson said recently in an interview with the Telegraph.
"Napoleon, Hitler, various people tried this out, and it ends tragically. The EU is an attempt to do this by different methods," Johnson told the newspaper.
"But fundamentally what is lacking is the eternal problem, which is that there is no underlying loyalty to the idea of Europe. There is no single authority that anybody respects or understands. That is causing this massive democratic void."
Comment: Boris Johnson speaking some sense for a change - but of course these snakes in suits will say anything to appeal to a portion of the electorate.

NATO's military buildup along the Russian borders can be considered a threat, he added.
Earlier this week, a new component of the US missile defense shield in Europe was activated at the Deveselu military base, in Romania. The new $800-million facility includes an Aegis Ashore missile defense system, the land version of the ship-based Aegis system. The site is one of the first major European components of the US global missile shield.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said the system could be used to launch cruise missiles, thus violating the 1987 INF Treaty between Washington and Moscow. The ministry also criticized the West for a very one-sided approach to the issue of missile defense.

European consumer rights activists take part in a march to protest against the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), austerity and poverty in Brussels, Belgium October 17, 2015
Referring to the website EUobserver, the newspaper noted that EU negotiators have become frustrated about the deal and don't believe in the success of the TTIP anymore.
The main problem is fundamentally different visions of the US and the EU about the nature of the agreement.
"The US is pressuring the EU to roll back environmental and health standards as part of a free trade deal," the website wrote. "The US also wants to keep the current arbitration system that allows corporations to sue governments for perceived loss of profits."
Comment: A polite way of saying the deal is completely stacked against Europe, favoring transnational corporation's rights over national sovereignty. The grimly amusing thing about the US pushing so hard for this deal is that it can be ground down under the same provisions, such as getting sued for cutting into a corporation's profits. The health and environmental standards are already long gone.
According to DWN, the US is playing hard, makes "unacceptable" demands and contributes to growing "frustration among Member States".
Comment: Hardly bad news. If the European leaders were smart (and actually cared about their citizens), they would walk away from the deal as fast as they could go. But can they? Why is it that EU leaders continue to make decisions that are manifestly against their own countries' interests?

Comment: Occam's razor: All things being equal, the simplest solution tends to be the right one. Who had capability, resources, intel, motive and track record worthy of this level of incisive assassination? All fingers point to...
