Russia orders snap inspection of troops' readiness for rapid deployment

Troops in Russia's Far East have begun winter inspections, according to a statement by the country's Ministry of Defense, as Moscow holds talks with NATO about de-escalating tensions.

Officials announced on Friday that forces stationed in the Eastern Military District, which covers a vast swath of land from Siberia to the Sea of Japan, were undertaking inspections and exercises intended to ensure their military readiness.

The ministry said this would include live firing in testing ranges, and emphasized that special attention would be paid to the soldiers' preparedness for rapid deployment.

Comment: Whilst these drills were scheduled prior to NATO's refusal to engage Russia in any meaningful dialogue to deescalate tensions, Putin and his colleagues also made it clear that they expected NATO to, basically, continue on its path of belligerence. And so it's possible that NATO's predictable response triggered some changes in these drills, the 'rapid deployment' aspect perhaps being one of them: Also check out SOTT radio's: NewsReal: Kazakhstan on Fire: Why US vs Russia 'Great Game' Could Spark Global Economic Collapse

Saving face: Prince Charles and William said to be behind move to strip Andrew of royal title

Prince William(second from right) was a key figure in the decision to effectively banish Prince Andrew (R) from the Royal Family, it's understood
Prince Charles and Prince William are said to have been the main influence behind the Queen's decision to strip Andrew of his Royal titles, Royal insiders claim.

Following a meeting with the two princes on Wednesday the 12th of January, Queen Elizabeth II reportedly made the decision to strip Prince Andrew of his Royal and military titles as well as his patronages, meaning he can no longer be referred to as 'His Royal Highness' (HRH), a report in British tabloid The Sun claims, citing Royal sources..

Prince William is claimed to be the key influence in convincing the Queen to remove Andrew's titles allegedly warning her the situation was "grave".

Comment: The Sun also reports
Last night the Queen's ex-press secretary Dickie Arbiter said: "I believe this is the end of Andrew. I don't believe there is a way back.

"It was clear the Queen was waiting for the judge's ruling.

"It is the right decision and an inevitable one. It would have been difficult for the Queen. She is a mother but also Head of State."

Andrew's options:

Face Virginia Giuffre in court, "tough it out" and fight to clear his name.

But experts say that strategy is extremely high-risk, pitting a senior royal against a victim of alleged sex abuse in the US court system.

Even if Andrew was determined to challenge Ms Giuffre's claims — which he firmly denies — the reputational damage could still be immense.

He would very likely be cross-examined via video-link about some extremely personal matters — including his sexual tastes.

2. Settle and offer Virginia Giuffre a lot of money to walk away.

Paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was a close pal of Andrew, paid Giuffre £370,000 for a "non-prosecution agreement".

Andrew would almost certainly have to pay up to £10million to secure a "no liability" deal.

Even then, there is no guarantee of new deeply damaging material not being made public as negotiations drag on.

Effectively paying off an Epstein victim also means his reputation will never recover.

3. Refuse to engage in the case against him.

His accuser would be almost certain to win a judgment by default and damages and costs stretching into millions.

The reputational cost would be far worse to Andrew — as well as provoking the fury of the UK's most powerful ally.

Andrew is still the subject of a US "mutual legal assistance" request to the UK — filed when it sought to question him in its Epstein probe.

It has been gathering dust but Andrew could now put the Home Office in a tricky position.

Dr. Oz calls Fauci a 'petty tyrant,' challenges him to debate on Fauci's Covid policies

mehmet oz fauci

(L) Mehmet Oz, (R) Dr. Anthony Fauci
GOP Pennsylvania Senate candidate Mehmet Oz, more commonly known as "Dr. Oz" from his TV program "The Dr. Oz Show," called infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci a "petty tyrant" and challenged him to a debate on COVID-19.

"It's past time Fauci faces the fact that he got COVID wrong. So, doctor to doctor - let's debate. This Doctor is in, are you?" Oz said in a tweet Thursday while posting a campaign ad attacking Fauci.

"Let's get the facts straight here. You and me. Let's have a debate, doctor to doctor, and give the American people the truth about COVID-19. I'm game. Anytime. Anywhere. Dr. Fauci, are you in?" Oz said in the campaign video.

Comment: Well, the debate likely won't be over the pros and cons of vaccination. From 2009:

Conflicts of Interest? Dr. Mehmet Oz Owns 150,000 Option Shares in Vaccine Technology Company

However, it would be nice to see 'Saint Fauci' cross swords with something like a peer, who has the same level of 'brand recognition'. Right now, the only medical professional calling him to account is Dr. Rand Paul. Given the level of political awareness in the U.S., there's not many folks who would even know who Rand Paul is.

Rich that Fauci complains about threats to himself, when Rand Paul has actually been hospitalized from a physical attack in his home.

Why Do NATO States Commit Energy Hara Kiri ?

frozen highway
There is a great paradox in the increasingly aggressive US and NATO military stance towards Russia, and China, when measured against the clearly suicidal national Green Agenda economic policies of the USA as well as the EU NATO states. An astonishing transformation of the economies of the world's most advanced industrial economies is underway and gaining momentum. The heart of the transformation is energy, and the absurd demand for "zero carbon" energy by 2050 or before. To eliminate carbon from the energy industry is not at this time, or perhaps ever, possible. But the push for it will mean tearing apart the world's most productive economies. Without a viable industrial energy base, NATO countries become a military joke. We cannot speak of "renewable" energy for solar, wind and battery storage. We must speak of Unreliable Energy. It is one of the most colossal scientific delusions in history.

On December 31 the new German coalition government shut down three of the remaining six nuclear power plants permanently. They did so at a point where natural gas in reserves were extremely low entering hard winter, and when any severe cold front could lead to power blackouts. Because of the German refusal to allow import of a second Russian gas pipeline, Nord Stream 2, Germany is facing a 500% increase in the spot price of electricity compared with January 2021.

Lithuanians overwhelmingly oppose their government's anti-China policy, President admits he made "a mistake" as China cuts off trade

After apparent economic retaliation by China, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said last week that the country had made "a mistake" allowing a diplomatic centre opened under the title of Taiwanese Representative Office.
Just 13 per cent of Lithuanians support Vilnius' hardline policy toward China, according to a government poll that adds to the pressure mounting on its foreign ministry.

In a survey conducted by a private company on behalf of the ministry, just 1 per cent of respondents rated Lithuania's "value-based" policy towards China "very positively", with 12 per cent viewing it "positively".

Conversely, 21 per cent said they felt "very negatively" and 37 per cent "negatively" about a policy that has seen Vilnius bolster its ties with Taiwan, the self-governed island that Beijing views as a renegade province.

Russian-led CSTO troops leaving Kazakhstan, 'region stabilized' following failed coup attempt

Military equipment of Russia's Airborne Forces is loaded into an Ilyushin Il-76 transport aircraft at Almaty International Airport, Kazakhstan, 13.01.2022.
Soldiers from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) are leaving Kazakhstan having achieved their objectives, now that the region has been stabilized, the head of the six-member military alliance announced on Thursday.

At a ceremony in Almaty, CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas said that Kazakh leaders had decided that unrest had subsided to a level that would allow the peacekeepers to withdraw.

"It's obvious that [the pullout] was not early," he clarified. "The situation here in Almaty has been placed under the control of law-enforcement personnel, and that is why the task has been fulfilled."

MI5 claims Chinese government 'agent' has been 'active' in UK parliament, comes amid No 10 lockdown parties scandal

Christine Lee

Christine Lee.
Christine Lee has made large donations to Labour MP Barry Gardiner's office, but he said MI5 has reassured him they were all above board. Her son resigned from his office today.

MI5 has warned that a Chinese government agent has been working in parliament "to subvert the processes", MPs have been told.

Comment: British politics has lacked integrity for decades, that much is clear, and much of the corruption is home grown.

A letter was sent to MPs by Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle who said MI5 warned him a woman called Christine Lee has been "engaged in political interference activities on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party, engaging with members here at parliament".

MI5 sent out an "interference alert" warning Ms Lee has "facilitated financial donations to serving and aspiring parliamentarians on behalf of foreign nationals based in Hong Kong and China...done covertly to mask the origins of the payments".

Comment: When do we ever hear about 'interference alerts' for lobby groups? More to the point, when do we ever hear about 'interference alerts'?

Comment: What's perhaps most revealing is how this has been made frontpage news, meanwhile we found out just a few days ago that Denmark's intelligence chief was arrested over a month ago for leaking top secret information (most likely to the West and Israel) the details of which still haven't been made public, and the story was mostly buried. Also compare the publicity this story is receiving with the well documented corruption by those with connections to the US, and Israel, that led to the removal of Jeremy Corby from the Labour leadership:

Pepe Escobar: This is how the US does 'dialogue'

NATO Russia US 2022
Washington will not consider Russian proposals on no expansion of NATO, and has no intention of even discussing the idea. So much for "dialogue".

It was the first high-level Russia-NATO meeting since 2019 - coming immediately after the non sequitur of the U.S.-Russia "security guarantee" non-dialogue dialogue earlier in the week in Geneva.

So what happened in Brussels? Essentially yet another non-dialogue dialogue - complete with a Kafkaesque NATO preface: we're prepared for dialogue, but the Kremlin's proposals are unacceptable.

This was a double down on the American envoy to NATO, Julianne Smith, preemptively blaming Russia for the actions that "accelerated this disaster".

Spanish Secret Service Behind 2017 Barcelona Terror Attacks, Wanted to Derail Catalonia Independence Referendum, Says Former Police Commissioner

Comment: As we commented at the time:
Van Mows Down People on Barcelona's Ramblas: 13 confirmed dead, dozens injured

Coming just a few weeks before Catalonia's referendum, this event will surely be used by Spanish authorities to argue for a 'No' vote. After all, if this kind of attack can happen in the heart of Catalonia, surely Catalonians are safer, and therefore better off, in the bosom of the Spanish state.

Former Spanish police commissioner Jose Manuel Villarejo said the 2017 terror attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils were orchestrated by Spain's secret service
A FORMER senior officer in Spain's National Police Corps has said the 2017 terror attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils were organised by the country's secret service in a bid to destabilise Catalonia before the independence referendum there.

However, Jose Manuel Villarejo said the attacks in August that year - which included a truck running over pedestrians on La Rambla in Barcelona - "were a serious mistake" on the part of former National Intelligence Service (CNI) director Felix Sanz Roldan.

Ahead of the October 2017 indyref, the former commissioner said the CNI boss "wanted to give Catalonia a fright, but miscalculated the consequences".

Why Russia is ready to check-mate the US and its Western empire

Shoigu and Putin
© Reuters
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu
"We are within our rights to do what is required to ensure Russia's security and sovereignty."
The Western empire-builders are weakened and exposed in the eyes of their own populations and thus are disarmed politically to pursue confrontation.

Author and commentator Alex Krainer explains in the following interview why Russia is now strong enough to take a definitive stand against the United States and its Western empire-builders. This is the wider historical context for high-level negotiations being conducted this week between Russia and the U.S. and NATO in which Moscow has asserted red lines for its national security.

Following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the U.S.-led Western powers became deluded with arrogant entitlement. As Krainer points out, the Western empire-builders presumed to have the right to wage wars and flout international law. For much of the past three-decade period, Russia was too weak economically and politically to challenge this reckless aggression. But now it has grown strong enough to "check-mate the empire's global ambitions". This is why war or regime change in Russia has become an obsessive goal for the U.S. and Western partners. It accounts for the relentless sanctions, Russophobia and surge in tensions over Ukraine and more recently Kazakhstan.

Russia is perceived as an obstacle to Western control over the strategically vital Eurasian continent. The prize of Eurasia has long been coveted by Western imperialists, from the British Empire's Sir Halford Mackinder to the U.S. strategist Zbigniew Brzezinski. As Krainer notes, it was this imperial calculation by the Anglo-American capitalists that led to the building up of Nazi Germany as a bludgeon to destroy the Soviet Union and purportedly to give the empire-builders global hegemony. This imperial machination led to World War II and the greatest conflagration in human history with as many as 85 million dead. The Soviet Union and China accounted for more than half of the death toll.
