Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert Gohmert: 'Scary' that elites would use vaccines for 'culling the population' of humans

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) on Monday said that it was a "scary thought" that elites could be culling the population with vaccines to preserve the Earth's resources.

The Texas Republican spent part of his five-week break from Congress this week by interviewing conservative activist Alan Keyes while filling in as a guest host for Tony Perkins on Family Research Council's Washington Watch.

Gohmert pointed out that some liberals believed that the Earth was already over populated.

"A lot of people who fancy themselves elites, right, because they've made a lot of money, they're names are all over the media and so forth, they've really signed on to an agenda that requires the depopulation of the globe," Keyes explained. "And in the name of fighting global climatological change, called global warming - that's proven to be something that's wrong - they are saying that we've got to cut back the population of the world."

U.N. delays Syria chemical weapons investigation over 'safety' fears

The United Nations has postponed a planned new visit by chemical weapons experts to a site near Damascus on Tuesday over "safety" fears, a spokesman said.

A sniper attack on the experts Monday forced the review of the plan to return to the Damascus suburb of Ghouta, said UN spokesman Farhan Haq.

"Following yesterday's attack on the UN convoy, a comprehensive assessment determined that the visit should be postponed by one day in order to improve preparedness and safety for the team," said Haq.

Comment: ...and in the process delay any information that might inform the U.K. Parliament which has been recalled for an emergency vote on Thursday. Not that it will make much difference given that the mandate of the U.N. inspectors is only to determine IF chemical weapons have been used, but not to establish who fired them.

US war on Syria justifies attack on Israel

A senior Syrian army source warned the US and its partners that waging a full-scale war on Syria would be reciprocated with an immediate attack on Tel Aviv by Damascus and its allies.

"If Damascus comes under attack, Tel Aviv will be targeted too and a full-scale war against Syria will actually issue a license for attacking Israel," the Syrian army source who urged anonymity due to the security reasons told FNA on Tuesday.

"We are rest assured that if Syria is attacked, Israel will also be set on fire and such an attack will, in turn, engage Syria's neighbors," the source added.

The source also warned the US and other western states that if Syria grows weak, certain irresponsible groups will be formed which will endanger Israel's security growingly.

Human Rights Watch urges Israel to end demolitions of Palestinian homes

Human Rights Watch (HRW) has urged Israeli forces to immediately end the "unlawful demolition" of homes belonging to Palestinians in the occupied territories.

"When Israeli forces routinely and repeatedly demolish homes in occupied territory without showing that it's necessary for military operations, it appears that the only purpose is to drive families off their land, which is a war crime," it said in a statement earlier this week.

The demolitions have displaced nearly 80 people over the past week alone.

Activists say Israel has destroyed hundreds of Palestinian structures, displacing over 700 people in the current year.

Obama set for holy Tomahawk war

The ''responsibility to protect'' (R2P) doctrine invoked to legitimize the 2011 war on Libya has just transmogrified into ''responsibility to attack'' (R2A) Syria. Just because the Obama administration says so.

On Sunday, the White House said it had ''very little doubt'' that the Bashar al-Assad government used chemical weapons against its own citizens. On Monday, Secretary of State John Kerry ramped it up to ''undeniable'' - and accused Assad of ''moral obscenity''.

So when the US bombed Fallujah with white phosphorus in late 2004 it was just taking the moral high ground. And when the US helped Saddam Hussein to gas Iranians in 1988 it was also taking the moral high ground.

The Obama administration has ruled that Assad allowed UN chemical weapons inspectors into Syria, and to celebrate their arrival unleashed a chemical weapons attack mostly against women and children only 15 kilometers away from the inspectors' hotel. If you don't believe it, you subscribe to a conspiracy theory.

Evidence? Who cares about evidence? Assad's offer of access for the inspectors came ''too late''. Anyway, the UN team is only mandated to determine whether chemical weapons were deployed - but not by who, according to UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon's spokesman.

As far as the Obama administration and UK Prime Minister David ''of Arabia'' Cameron are concerned - supported by a barrage of corporate media missiles - that's irrelevant; Obama's ''red line'' has been crossed by Assad, period. Washington and London are in no-holds-barred mode to dismiss any facts contradicting the decision. Newspeak - of the R2A kind - rules. If this all looks like Iraq 2.0 that's because it is. Time to fix the facts around the policy - all over again. Time for weapons of mass deception - all over again.

Iran: Israel will be first victim of U.S. military action against Syria

Hossein Sheikholeslam
A senior member of Iran's Majlis says the Israeli regime will be the first entity to fall victim in case of a potential military intervention by the United States in Syria.

Iran's Majlis Director General for International Affairs Hossein Sheikholeslam stressed on Monday that a military strike on Syria is very unlikely, but added that if it actually occurred, "the first victim... would be the Zionist regime (Israel), because the Syrian military... can launch a major offensive on" Israel and "flatten the place that is tied to the US's national security."

On August 23, US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said the Pentagon was positioning military forces as part of "contingency options" provided to US President Barack Obama regarding Syria.

Groklaw was the canary in the coal mine

"No matter how cynical you get, it's impossible to keep up." - Lily Tomlin

Freedom and the rule of law lost a valuable resource and unique voice on Tuesday when Pamela Jones concluded that she could no longer in good conscience run Groklaw in the face of oppressively ubiquitous internet and email surveillance by US and allied intelligence agencies.

That was not just sad and unfortunate. It is absolutely unacceptable in a supposedly civilised society that an inoffensive, non-political legal researcher and information technology journalist perceived such a real threat to her privacy and that of her correspondents that she decided she had no choice but to stop using the internet almost entirely.

The metaphor of the canary in the coal mine springs to mind. If such an honourable, upstanding, straight arrow, good government supporter passionately dedicated to the rule of law like Pamela Jones could no longer believe that her privacy remained relatively safe using the internet and email, we are all in big trouble.
