Best of friends... the deaf and blind dogs who are each other's eyes and ears

Image

A deaf dog and bind dog have formed an inseparable bond - acting as each other's eyes and ears wherever they go.

The caring canines were abandoned as puppies but became best friends soon after they were both rescued by a dog shelter.

Completely blind Dillon, a two-year-old Border Collie cross, was dropped off at a dog boarding kennel and never picked up again.

And Eve, a deaf Catahoula Leopard Dog mix - who also has one eye missing - was found by a postman when she was just nine-weeks-old and almost frozen in a snow drift on Christmas Eve.

What a fishy tale: Friendly dolphin dives down and catches 10lb cod before giving it to family for their dinner

Lucy Watkins, 14, was admiring the dolphin with her family in Devon

Mammal jumped out of the water and placed fish near to the teenager

At first they didn't know whether to take the cod but dolphin reappeared with its own dinner - a seabass

The family gratefully scooped up the cod and took it home for tea

A family watching a dolphin from their boat were shocked when it dropped them off a cod supper for dinner.

The group were enjoying watching the mammal frolic in the water when it suddenly dived down and caught the cod before placing it near to Lucy Watkins, 14.

The dolphin then then resurfaced and began nudging the fish towards the stunned teenager.

Lucy and her grandparents wondered whether they should pick up the fish in case the dolphin wanted it for tea.

But the dolphin then appeared seconds later with his own fish, this time a seabass, and began tucking in.

Marine drops back in race to cross finish line with young boy

Image
When a nine-year-old boy found himself separated from his group while running a 5k, he turned to the marine beside him and asked, "Sir, will you please run with me?' A heart-warming photograph captured what happened next, when 19-year-old Lance Corporal Myles Kerr dropped back in the race in order to cross the finish line with the boy, reports the Daily Mail.

The young boy, Boden Fuchs, finished the race at 34.53 minutes. Kerr finished five seconds behind him, long after his fellow marines had completed the run.

The photograph has gone viral on Facebook, accumulating over 200,000 likes and 45,000 shares.

A follower asked him if the boy was happy as he cross the line. According to Kerr's Twitter response, the boy "still has a big smile on his face today."

Kerr also posted on his Twitter account that "The parents of the little boy I ran with gave me $100 gift card to Grey Gables Restaurant #godbless."

Daily Caller reached out to Kerr, who agreed to do an interview. Unfortunately, Kerr's Twitter account was deleted hours later, and he did not respond to further requests for comment.

Love/Hate relationships - Poetic Analysis

Image
My BBC HardTalk appearance has been drawing a lot of attention. I have been receiving a lot of support, but I also encounter a substantial surge of hate mail.

I would love to share this one with you, because it is poetic as much as it is angry and demands some analysis.

'i hate U' is a poem written presumably by a Zionist hardliner who decided to deliver his beauty by means of email.

Cord Jefferson on the white culture of violence

A frightening and violent mob swept through the normally quiet seaside community of Huntington Beach last night following a surfing competition in the area. Businesses were vandalized and looted, portable toilets overturned, and brutal fistfights waged right out in the open. It was an ugly display and a sad day for California. But more than that, it was a reminder that we must begin to seriously consider the values of our thuggish white youth.

Many people don't want to hear this kind of tough love, of course. They'd like to bury their heads in the sand and pretend that all white children are as sweet and harmless as Taylor Swift. But the reality is that the statistics tell a different story. For instance, according to research from the Department of Justice, 84 percent of white murder victims are killed by other white people [PDF]. Similarly, white rape victims tend to be raped by other whites [PDF]. White-on-white violence is a menace to white communities across the country, and yet you never hear white leaders like Pastor Joel Osteen, Bill O'Reilly, or Hillary Clinton take a firm stance against the scourge.

Emu found wandering on northern B.C. logging road

Emu

A B.C. trucker used to animal sightings is still having a hard time believing what he saw on a logging road south of Prince George, even with photographic evidence.

On Monday, one load into the day, Juan Huidoboro thought the driver up ahead who radioed him about an emu on the road was joking around.

"What? An emu? I said. 'No'.'"

But, right up the road, at the same spot on the road, there it was.

"Sure enough, there's frickin' emu walking down the middle of the road," he said. "I couldn't believe it. It blew my mind! Oh, my God."

"It was a big bird, huge. At least five feet tall, for sure," he said.

Time magazine cover makes Pope look like the Devil

Online observers, perhaps seeking a distraction from royal baby ogling, are seeing Devil's horns on the Pope.

The cover of Time Magazine's international edition for July 29 features a photo of the pontiff's face in profile superimposed above the magazine's title. The top of his head cuts off part of the "M" in Time, leaving two red spikes poking up from behind Pope Francis' head.

Massachusetts girl, 9, becomes youngest U.S. chess master

Clarissa Yip

Only three years or so since first picking up the game of chess, 9-year-old Carissa Yip can already look down at 93 percent of the more than 51,000 players registered with the U.S. Chess Federation.

She has risen so far up the rankings that she has reached the expert level at a younger age than anyone since the chess federation began electronic record-keeping in 1991, a new level she reached in recent weeks.

Her father, Percy, who taught her until she began beating him within a year, said she could reach master level in as soon as a year.

''Some never reach master level,'' he said. ''From expert to master, it's a huge jump.''
