© CTV AtlanticA New Brunswick couple who raises horses says they were shocked to find one of their colts on the roof of their garage.

What was first thought to be a joke among brothers now has a family laughing in Hampton, N.B.

A couple who raises racing horses awoke Tuesday morning to find one of their colts standing on the roof of their garage.

Shocked by the scene, they rushed to help the horse, but not before snapping a photo of the one-year-old colt stuck on the roof.

"We saw the picture," says Pat Downey, who owns the horse with her husband, Stephen. "He called as soon as he got him off because he didn't have any trouble. Well, it took him a while, but he didn't have any trouble getting him off."

She says the horse, Must Win, stays on the farm with her husband's brother Archie and that it was Archie who awoke to the strange sight. She says she and her husband were baffled by the photo and convinced it was a joke.

Batman and Captain America rescue kitten

Who says superheroes aren't real?

When a West Virginia, US, home caught fire, trapping a kitten inside, it was Batman and Captain America who came to the rescue.

John Buckland, dressed as Batman, and Troy Marcum, dressed as Captain America, saw smoke at a house nearby when they were entertaining children as part of their business.

They ran to the house along with another bystander, kicked in the door and broke out a window so some smoke could escape.

Buckland, a former firefighter, says he crawled into the front room and felt something furry. He grabbed the animal, ran outside and gave it mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

No one was hurt in the fire, including the rescuers - though Buckland says the cat hissed and swatted at him when it regained consciousness.

Toddler identifies all countries on world map

A video of a toddler identifying all the countries on a map has been posted online.

Aanav Jayakar, who is 18 months old, correctly points to the country his mother asks him to identify on both coloured and black and white maps.

His mother Dr Bijal Jayakar, who filmed the video, explained that they first discovered Aanav's skill when her husband starting talking to him about their home city of Delhi.

She told The Daily Telegraph: "I said, 'Delhi is the capital of India' and he remembered. So I did China and France. The common ones. We started off with easy capitals and in six weeks, he knew 53 of them."

Police take 'suspicious fruit' into their possession after claims it could have been used in black magic during elections

A coconut has been detained by Maldivian police on suspicion of vote-rigging in a key presidential election.

The coconut, described as "young", was found near a school that will be used as a polling station on Saturday on the remote Kaafu atoll, one of the hundreds of islands that comprise the Indian Ocean archipelago state.

Though the population of the Maldives is Sunni Muslim, continuing belief in magic is widespread in rural areas. Coconuts are often used in rituals and inscribed with spells.

The hundreds of thousands of international tourists who travel to the Maldives usually stay in isolated resorts and have no contact with local people other than staff.

Hollande 'village idiot' photo sparks censorship row after image is withdrawn

President Hollande found himself at the centre of an embarassing debate yesterday after Agence France Presse (AFP), the French press agency, withdrew a photograph that left him looking like a village idiot.

Critics accused the agency, which depends largely on the French state for its financial equilibrium, of self-censorship in an attempt to avoid ruffling Mr Hollande's feathers.

But the row merely added to the publicity surrounding the picture, which went viral on French internet sites amid widespread hilarity.

The photograph, taken when Mr Hollande visited a school in Denain, northern France, to mark the start of the new term on Tuesday, made him look like a clown with an expression of stupefaction in his eyes, according to Le Point, the news magazine.

Rue 89, a news site, said he looked "simple-minded".

The picture, taken by Denis Charlet, one of AFP's photographers, was made available to the media outlets which subscribe to the agency.

Outrage over outhouse labeled 'Obama's Presidential Library'

Tucumcari, New Mexico - Most Presidential libraries are constructed after the President completes his term. However, according to KOAT-ABC, a New Mexico man has determined the location for President Obama's library and has marked it with a sign that is sparking controversy in one small town.

The sign rests on top of an outhouse. It reads: Obama's Presidential Library.

Some in town view the sign as bad taste while others are supportive. One man told a local reporter that folks are treating it as a tourist destination and that it is frequently photographed.

The man responsible for the sign would not reveal his name nor would he give any information as to his motivation but did say the following: "It's like watching TV. If you don't like what the hell you're watching, turn the channel. I'm not even certain he even deserves that level of respect, but that's my opinion."

He added "...and fortunately, that's one thing they haven't taken away from us ... is our right to our opinion,"
