Penguin Random House employees were sent into a tizzy by the firm's decision to publish Canadian professor Jordan Peterson's new book, prompting a meeting where staffers reportedly cried and demanded that the tome be cancelled.
The emotional in-house "town hall" was held Monday, after it came to light that the publishing giant is handling Peterson's new book, due out in March 2021. Employees anonymously leaked the controversy to Vice News, which said "people were crying in the meeting about how Jordan Peterson had affected their lives."
Another staffer argued that Peterson is "an icon of hate speech and transphobia, and the fact that he's an icon of white supremacy, regardless of the content of his book, I'm not proud to work for a company that publishes him." The workers also are insisting that if they don't get their way in canceling the book, all profits from the project should be donated to LGBTQ organizations.
In April, The House published an article from the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology, detailing the dangers of public misinformation around Covid19. "Misinformation in the coronavirus crisis is putting lives at risk..." it blared, stating:
The volume of inaccurate information circulating around the Covid-19 outbreak has prompted a global 'infodemic'.
Widespread misinformation has included proposed underlying causes of the virus (such as 5G radio waves), conspiracies around the actions of public bodies and unverified treatments and preventative measures.
An Ofcom survey of over 2,000 people found that, within the first week of the 'stay at home' measures, 46% encountered false or misleading information. Within this group, 66% reported that they were seeing Covid-19 misinformation at least once a day and 55% said that they did nothing about it. (emphasis added.)
They go on to analyse where the "misinformation" is coming from noting:
The Reuters Institute of Journalism and Oxford University recently analysed 225 items of Covid-19 misinformation and found that 88% appeared on social media. (Emphasis added)
The incoming Biden administration's cabinet carries a strong whiff of deja vu, and that's no accident - the uninspiring president-elect is staking everything on evoking a lost utopia that never existed under ex-president Obama.
The Biden campaign's rule of thumb for his cabinet appointments seems to be to channel the Obama administration - with an extra helping of wokeness where possible. This has seen him float Pentagon veteran and dyed-in-the-wool megahawk Michele Flournoy as the first-ever female Secretary of Defense and former DACA czar Alejandro Mayorkas as the first Latino-Jewish head of the Department of Homeland Security.
There's also the rumor he's planning to pick Obama's former Fed chair Janet Yellen as the first-ever female Treasury Secretary - but even if she's not the lucky lady, fellow former Clinton adviser Lael Brainard could get the nod, or one of two black candidates - one of whom happens to be gay. Whoever he picks, they'll be a "first" - and, given their institutional history as reliable servants of the ruling class under Obama, a dependable source of more-of-the-same fiscal policies.

Britons are set to be given Covid 'freedom passes' as long as they test negative for the virus twice in a week, it has been suggested.
The details of the scheme are still being ironed out by officials in Whitehall, who hope it will allow the country to get back to normal next year.
To earn the freedom pass, people will need to be tested regularly and, provided the results come back negative, they will then be given a letter, card or document they can show to people as they move around.
The certificate would be stored on a phone, according to sources, and would allow people to live a relatively normal life until the government's vaccination programme gets up to the speed.
It would even allow Britons to get away without wearing a mask, it is thought, and visit family and friends without the need to socially distance.
Print this article and hand it to frightened mask wearers who have believed the alarmist media, politicians and Technocrats in white coats. Masks are proven ineffective against coronavirus and potentially harmful to healthy people and those with pre-existing conditions.
My wife and I dined out last night in a very empty restaurant and the young waitress was required to wear a cloth mask. I asked her how she was doing with the mask and if there were any side effects. She related that was consistently short of breath (when away from the table, she lowered the mask below her nose) and that she had actually passed out because of it a few days earlier, taking her straight to the floor. Fortunately, she was not hurt. - TN Editor
At this writing, there is a recent surge in widespread use by the public of facemasks when in public places, including for extended periods of time, in the United States as well as in other countries. The public has been instructed by media and their governments that one's use of masks, even if not sick, may prevent others from being infected with SARS-CoV-2, the infectious agent of COVID-19.
A black man died after being beaten by supermarket security guards in the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre on the eve of Friday's Black Consciousness Day observations, sparking outrage after videos of the incident circulated on social media.
A short clip showed one guard restraining João Alberto Silveira Freitas just outside the doors of a Carrefour supermarket while the other pummeled him with repeated blows to the face. A store employee stood to the side filming. Other clips, shot afterward, showed a guard kneeling atop Freitas' back.
Dozens of protesters entered a Carrefour in Brazil's capital, Brasilia, on Friday morning, chanting "Black lives matter!" One held a sign reading: "Don't shop at Carrefour. You could die". Inside another Carrefour in Rio de Janeiro, protesters shouted "Carrefour Killer!" as a black man lay still atop the conveyor belt at a checkout. They forced the store's closure.
Comment: It's remarkable how similar this is to the BLM protests/riots in the US in June, in terms of both its 'sparking incident', its paramoralistic ideological basis ('structural racism') and details like 'black lives matter' being painted in Portuguese in large letters on a major thoroughfare in Sao Paulo:
This cluster of themes would appear then to be some sort of globalist 'package', drumming up counter-protests to divide and distract people from the one true cause the silent majority is uniting against: the planet-wide Covid-1984/Agenda2030 operation to enslave us all.
Brazil is of course (nominally) governed by Jair Bolsonaro, the 'Trump of Brazil'. Now that the CIA appears to have unseated Trump as president of the US, is Bolsonaro next in their sights?
By the way, this is a photo of Joao Alberto, the Black Brazilian these riots are about 'honoring' (celebrating? avenging?)...
Dr. Roger Hodkinson, former Chairman of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons committee in Ottawa.
Dr. Roger Hodkinson is the former Chairman of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons committee in Ottawa, he was once CEO of a large private medical laboratory in Edmonton, Alberta, and for the past 20 years has held the position as Chairman of a Medical Biotechnology company based in North Carolina currently tasked with selling a COVID-19 test. He is a medical specialist in pathology, which includes virology, who trained at Cambridge University in the UK — he is perfectly positioned to speak on this topic.
In a recent Edmonton City Council Community and Public Services Committee meeting (the audio from which is currently gaining traction on YouTube), Dr. Hodkinson says: "The bottom line is there is utterly unfounded public hysteria driven by the media and politicians. It's outrageous. This is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on an unsuspecting public.
"[COVID-19] is nothing more than a bad flu season. This is not Ebola. It's not SARS. It's politics playing medicine, and that's a very dangerous game."
Thank you very much. I do appreciate the opportunity to address you on this very important matter. What I'm going to say is lay language, and blunt. It is counter-narrative, and so you don't immediately think I'm a quack I'm going to to briefly outline my credentials so that you can understand where I'm coming from in terms of knowledge base in all of this.
I'm a medical specialist in pathology which includes virology. I trained at Cambridge University in the UK. I'm the ex-president of the pathology section of the Medical Association. I was previously an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine doing a lot of teaching. I was The Chairman of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada Examination Committee and Pathology in Ottawa but more to the point I'm currently the chairman of a bio technology company in North Carolina selling the COVID-19 test.
And [inaudible] you might say I know a little bit about all of this. The bottom line is simply this:
There is utterly unfounded public hysteria driven by the media and politicians. It's outrageous. This is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on an unsuspecting public. There is absolutely nothing that can be done to contain this virus. Other than protecting older, more vulnerable people. It should be thought of as nothing more than a bad flu season.
This is not Ebola. It's not SARS. It's politics playing medicine and that's avery dangerous game. There is no action of any kind needed other than what happened last year when we felt unwell. We stayed home, we took chicken noodle soup, we didn't visit granny, and we decided when we would return to work. We didn't need anyone to tell us.
Masks are utterly useless. There is no evidence base for their effectiveness whatsoever. Paper masks and fabric masks are simply virtue signaling. They're not even worn effectively most of the time. It's utterly ridiculous. Seeing these unfortunate, uneducated people- I'm not saying that in a pejorative sense-seeing these people walking around like lemmings, obeying without any knowledge base, to put the mask on their face.
Social distancing is also useless because Covid is spread by aerosols which travels 30 meters or so before landing. Enclosures have had such terrible unintended consequences. Everywhere should be opened tomorrow as well as was stated in the Great Barrington declaration that I circulated prior to this meeting.
And a word on testing: I do want to emphasize that I'm in the business of testing for Covid. I do want to emphasize that positive test results do not, underlined in neon, mean a clinical infection. It's simply driving public hysteria and all testing should stop. Unless you're presenting to hospital with some respiratory problem.
All that should be done is to protect the vulnerable and to give them all in the nursing homes that are under your control, give them all 3000 to 5000 international units of vitamin D every day which has been shown to radically reduce the likelihood of Infection.
And I would remind you all that using the province's own statistics, the risk of death under 65 in this province is one in 300,000. One in 300,000.
You've got to get a grip on this. The scale of the response that you are undertaking with no evidence for it is utterly ridiculous given the consequences of acting in a way that you're proposing. All kinds of suicides, business closures, funerals, weddings etc. it's simply outrageous!
It's just another bad flu and you've got to get your minds around that. Let people make their own decisions. You should be totally out of the business of medicine. You're being led down the garden path by the chief medical officer of health for this province. I am absolutely outraged that this is reached this level. It should all stop tomorrow. Thank you very much.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has urged residents to stay away from their loved ones this Thanksgiving with an eerie voice-tweet. He has had trouble convincing local authorities to enforce his 10-person gathering limit.
"I'm at home with my family. I'm in my safe zone" Cuomo intoned in the voice message, posted to Twitter on Thursday, before dropping his voice to a menacing whisper: "Your safe zone is not a safe zone. Your safe zone is dangerous this year. Love is sometimes doing what's hard," the governor continued, returning to his previous tone. "This year, if you love someone, it is smarter and better to stay away."
"We are facing [a] winter that's going to drive people inside more and more, and we're really at risk of seeing caseloads go up, and hospitals get overwhelmed, and more loved ones dying. So we need to do everything we can right now to slow the spread of Covid-19, to stop the spike in its tracks. A normal Christmas is quite frankly right out of the question."
Meanwhile Trudeau brushed off claims that Ottawa would use emergency powers to re-introduce its own national-style lockdown, saying he is "not looking to bring in a federal hammer to try and do things."
Chief Public Health Officer Dr Theresa Tam warned "we are not on a good trajectory" as she discussed the latest Covid modelling. "I think across the board, across Canada, we have to say the time is now, with urgency, that we limit contacts."
Covid-19 has been a gift to authoritarian leadership, especially those with a lockdown-the-herd mentality.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who brought an avalanche of attention to the World Economic Forum's 'Great Reset' when a video of him talking about the plan surfaced earlier this week, now says it's a "conspiracy theory."
Asked at a press conference Friday about concerns raised by conservative lawmakers about his use of the term 'Great Reset', Trudeau said,
"We're in a time of anxiety, where people are looking for reasons for things that are happening to him, the difficult moments we're in. It's nice to be able to find someone to blame, something to point to, something to get mad at.
"We're seeing a lot of people fall prey to disinformation. If conservative MPs and others want to start talking about conspiracy theories, well, that's their choice. I'm going to stay focused on helping Canadians get through this, on learning lessons from this pandemic, and making sure that the world we leave to our kids is even better than the world we inherited from our parents."
Levying explosive claims of widespread voter fraud specifically tied to Dominion Voting Systems and potentially a pay-for-play scheme with GOP Gov. Brian Kemp, Trump campaign lawyer Sidney Powell on Newsmax TV vowed to deliver a "biblical" voter fraud case this week.
"We've got tons of evidence; it's so much, it's hard to pull it all together," Powell told Saturday night's "The Count" co-hosted by Rob Schmitt and Mark Halperin, teasing the explosive allegation of the Georgia governor in a contested and key battleground state.
"Hopefully this week we will get it ready to file, and it will be biblical."
"It's a massive project to pull this fraud claim together with the evidence that I want to put in," she added.
"You name the manner of fraud and it occurred in Georgia."
Comment: We're inclined to believe Powell regarding the scale of the fraud she is suggesting took place; this election was probably rigged to the tune of millions of votes 'flipped' from Trump to Biden.
Powell's idea that the rigging was meant to be more straightforward fits with what we saw happen. Digital flipping of votes occurred 'mid-stream', on the night, as they came in... but that there were too many for Trump so the system became overwhelmed somehow ("the algorithm crashed"), forcing the 'pause', followed by manual dumps of fraudulent ballots for Biden over subsequent hours and days.
Having said that, we're also wary of QAnon-like claims about 'justice being served any day now'. It's been 4 years and Killary is still very much free. The 'Venezuela-Cuba-China-Commies-did-this-to-us' angle is also, of course, pure BS. We're scratching our heads as to why the Trump legal team would sully their case with such provably false claims. Powell DOES also keep name-dropping the CIA, so at least she occasionally hones in on the most likely perps...
What Powell appears to be doing, in general, is drumming up popular support for Trump's case - and thus 'pressure' that can be applied on US Supreme Court judges when they do finally hear and see the evidence Powell, Giuliani et al present of mass vote fraud.
People can question the wisdom of this, but don't forget that those judges will be coming under far greater pressure from the deep state to certify the election of Joe Biden, 'or else'...
As things stand, Trump's going to need a 'hail mary' from 'on high' to 'un-steal' this election.
UPDATE 23 Nov 2020
In the space of a few hours, from conducting press conferences side-by-side with Powell to retweeting her interviews, the other lawyers representing Trump's re-election campaign have suddenly distanced the president from her:
And Powell's response:
Trump's chances of re-elections likely just took another dive.
State power has its own limits defined by the fact that it is authority that reaches people from outside. State power cannot oversee and dictate the creative states of the soul and mind, the inner states of love, freedom and goodwill. The state cannot demand from its citizens faith, prayer, love, goodness and conviction. It cannot regulate scientific, religious and artistic creation. It should not intervene in moral, family and daily private life, and only when extremely necessary should it impinge on people's economic initiative and creativity.
