Government scientific adviser says Britain's two metre social distancing rule is unnecessary and based on 'very fragile' evidence

social distancing
One of the top scientific advisers to the British Government said the two metre (6'6") social distancing rule is based on 'very fragile' evidence.

People in the UK have been urged to stay at least 2m, or six-and-a-half feet, away from anyone who they don't live with, to avoid catching or spreading COVID-19.

But the distance may be a non-scientific estimate that just caught on in countries around the world, as top researchers say there is not solid evidence to back it up.

Other nations have cut their rules down to a 1m gap, which advocates say could help businesses get back to work faster and help to kick-start the economy.

Over 500 doctors warn Trump that nationwide shutdown may cause 'millions of casualties'

However well-intentioned lockdowns are, doctors and researchers warn that a protracted isolation and anxiety stemming from measures to curb the pandemic may exert a higher toll than the virus itself.

Over 500 doctors have sent a joint letter to US President Donald Trump to raise the alarm about the potential negative health consequences of the coronavirus lockdown that could outweigh the benefits from keeping people indoors and preventing them from getting infected.

They called the nationwide shutdown a "mass casualty incident" which put millions of Americans at risk because they are being forced to miss routine screenings that could detect serious health conditions like cancer or prevent cases of stroke and heart attack.

"It is impossible to overstate the short, medium, and long-term harm to people's health with a continued shutdown," reads the letter, which was sent on Tuesday. "Losing a job is one of life's most stressful events, and the effect on a person's health is not lessened because it also has happened to 30 million other people."

Stanford researcher Dr. John Ioannidis says coronavirus might not be as deadly as flu

Comment: He's hedging by saying 'it might not be as deadly as the flu'. We're confident we can dispense with the academic stance on his behalf and say what he's really thinking: IT'S NOT AS DEADLY AS THE FLU.

covid test
A Stanford statistician says COVID-19 isn't as deadly as we thought — but his calculations in a new study are already under attack from critics who say it overlooks the actual body count.

Comment: They haven't even reported his finding yet but they're already bringing in 'official critics'!

In an analysis, Dr. John Ioannidis places the fatality rate between 0.02%-0.4%, far lower than the 1%-and-way-up numbers that were once bandied about - and much closer to the 0.1% death rate of the flu.

"While COVID-19 is a formidable threat, the fact that its IFR (infection fatality rate) is much lower than originally feared, is a welcome piece of evidence," he wrote. "At a very broad, bird's eye view level, worldwide the IFR of COVID-19 this season may be in the same ballpark as the IFR of influenza."

Comment: 'We shouldn't fetishize numbers'... say the number fetishizers who have panicked the planet with fake numbers for months on end!!!

Ioannidis is recognized as one of the world's leading statisticians and epidemiologists. His critics are worse-than-useless. It's not just that it's 'not the flu', as the global media told everyone 3 months ago. IT'S NOT EVEN THE FLU.

Canada, Trudeau and the coup attempt against Venezuela

A protestor wrapped in a Venezuelan flag participates in a Hands Off Venezuela protest in London, January 29, 2019.
In the early hours of May 3, and then again on May 4, heavily armed mercenaries on speedboats attempted to enter Venezuela from Colombia. They were confronted by the Venezuelan armed forces, militia, police and local fisherman. Eight were killed in an ensuing shootout, while the others were arrested. Among those detained were two former United States Army Green Berets. Isolated pockets of the nearly 300 army deserters are still being rounded up at the time of writing.

One of the leaders of the failed coup attempt is Canadian-born Jordan Goudreau, a former US Marine who heads up a private Florida-based security firm called Silvercorps USA. While he did not participate directly in the raid, he did leave behind a video recorded in Colombia in which he and his Venezuelan military partner, ex-Venezuelan National Guard officer Javier Nieto, take credit for the attempted coup. The other two Americans captured also testified to their involvement. The confessions lead us through a labyrinth of corruption and shady deals, from Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó all the way up to Donald Trump.

The goal of the coup plotters was the capture and arrest of President Nicolás Maduro. A contract signed by Goudreau, Guaidó and his advisors including exiled lawmaker Sergio Vergara and Juan José Rendon confirm in black and white the plan to overthrow the Venezuelan government. Maduro has blamed Trump and the Colombian government for the chaos, but the US has so far denied any involvement.

Comment: Despite being the north border lackey to the US, what does Canada gain from advocating the removal of Maduro, the ongoing sanctions and support of war crimes? It belies its proclaimed penchant for peace, political respect and upholding the rights of a sovereign country. Given that, it wouldn't be the first Western country to fool its constituency by masking true intentions and actions via perception management.

Even before the coronavirus, living standards had flatlined amid wage stagnation and austerity.
Nearly 5,000,000 adults in the UK are suffering from food insecurity, according to a Food Foundation survey.

In addition to the adults impacted by the issue, a further 1,700,000 children are also suffering from the problem, which has seen households run out of food or ration meals.

Food insecurity is almost 250% higher than prior to the coronavirus lockdown, put in place towards the end of March.

Around 880,000 households are receiving food parcels from the government or other charitable services, while a further 4,400,000 are reliant on friends, families, neighbours or volunteers to bring produce to them.

Comment: The lockdown is compounding the already dire situation in the UK:

'You have no rights' - Lockdowns, raids and forced vaccinations

"You have no right not to be vaccinated, you have no right not to wear a mask, you have no right to open up your business... And if you refuse to be vaccinated, the state has the power to literally take you to a doctor's office and plunge a needle into your arm." — Alan Dershowitz, Harvard law professor

You have no rights.

That's the lesson the government wants us to learn from this COVID-19 business.

Well, the government is wrong.

For years now, the powers-that-be — those politicians and bureaucrats who think like tyrants and act like petty dictators regardless of what party they belong to — have attempted to brainwash us into believing that we have no right to think for ourselves, make decisions about our health, protect our homes and families and businesses, act in our best interests, demand accountability and transparency from government, or generally operate as if we are in control of our own lives.

We have every right, and you know why? Because we were born free.

As the Declaration of Independence states, we are endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights — to life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness — that no government can take away from us.

Unfortunately, that hasn't stopped the government from constantly trying to usurp our freedoms at every turn. Indeed, the nature of government is such that it invariably oversteps its limits, abuses its authority, and flexes its totalitarian muscles.

Take this COVID-19 crisis, for example.

New York Post: 'End New York City's lockdown now!'

Sometimes, a good rant is all a writer can offer. Bear with me.

Last Friday morning, some 3,500 New Yorkers lined up at a Catholic church in Queens to receive free food hours before it even opened, according to the New York Police Department. Catholic Charities has reported a 200 percent increase in demand over the past month and a half.

By prolonging the coronavirus shutdown long after its core mission was accomplished, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio have plunged tens of thousands of New Yorkers into poverty.

It needs to end. Now.

Comment: While some can see the need for getting back to business, others are still ignoring the fact that economies are opening back up and masses of people aren't dying.

Food riots break out in Santiago, Chile, as government extends lockdown for third month and makes it even STRICTER

Comment: This kind of reaction is likely to spread globally over the next few months...

Coronavirus cases soared in Chile Tuesday as soldiers were deployed to back up riot police in Santiago following clashes with demonstrators angry about food shortages and job losses.

Comment: Note how AFP opened this piece on mass protests against the totalitarian lockdown because people are hungry by first insinuating that lots more people died there... because of the protests!

So many people on this planet are in for a reckoning, and MSM journos are chief among them.

Soldiers in armored vehicles and wielding automatic weapons were deployed to the working class neighborhood of El Bosque, where on Monday residents armed with clubs and stones clashed with riot police.

Overnight Monday to Tuesday rioters looted a neighborhood gas station, while downtown a mob set a bus ablaze. Residents in both poor and middle-class neighborhoods banged pots and pans in protest.

The military deployment came as Chile recorded 3,520 new coronavirus cases, its biggest daily increase, for a total of almost 50,000 infections.

Comment: The timing of this 'factual increase' in Covid deaths is interesting, as it suggests that they expressly spiked the number in order to dampen support for the protesters and justify police/military repression against them.

Comment: The political class seems to be oblivious about what they are setting up to come next: major, bloody revolution.

Ioannidis releases new medical analysis of 12 global coronavirus studies finding 9 of 12 show COVID-19 fatality rates similar to seasonal flu

Dr. John Ioannidis

Dr. John Ioannidis
In April Stanford University researcher Dr. John Ioannidis presented a summary report from his recent coronavirus study in Santa Clara, California.

The research project looked at 3,300 people in Santa Clara County in California. The Stanford study revealed that 2.5% to 4.2% of people tested for COVID-19 were positive for antibodies.

The doctor's data indicated that there are between 50 to 80-fold more infections in the general population than the confirmed cases.

This was a huge development.

State murder: Thousands of UK cancer patients could die early due to lockdown delays

A mammogram screening for breast cancer. Researchers have warned that coronavirus-related delays in diagnosis and treatment of a range of cancers could lead to a rise in deaths.
Thousands of people with cancer could die early because so many hospitals have suspended surgery for the disease while the NHS battles the coronavirus, experts warn today.

The pandemic will have "a terrible indirect impact on the lives of cancer patients" for months to come, on top of the devastation for families who have lost a loved one to Covid-19, according to research by the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR).

The authors say that the disruption to NHS cancer treatment, and especially delays to operations to remove tumours, will lead directly to some people's disease having become incurable.
