IDF says Hezbollah launched 30 rockets into Israel, no casualties reported

Fighting between Hezbollah and Israeli forces in the north has intensified in recent weeks

Hezbollah launched 30 rockets from Lebanon into northern Israel early Monday, though no casualties were reported, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed.

"Following sirens that sounded a short while ago in northern Israel, approximately 30 projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon toward the area of Kabri, a number of which fell in open areas," an IDF spokesman said. "No injuries were reported."

The barrage came amid anticipation of retaliatory strikes by Iran and its proxy forces in the region against Israel for the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran late last month.

Fighting between Hezbollah militants in Lebanon and Israeli forces in the north has intensified in recent weeks, sparking fears that the month-long conflict in Gaza will spread.

Hezbollah, late last month confirmed the death of Faud Shukr, its "No. 2" commander who was involved in the 1983 Beirut bombings of a Marine barracks bombing that killed 241 U.S. military personnel.

The IDF strike served as a response to an attack that killed a dozen youths in Israel's Golan Heights, but Hezbollah continues to deny any involvement in that attack, while the IDF identified Shukr as the mastermind behind the attack.

Meanwhile, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has ordered a guided missile submarine to the Middle East and is telling the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike group to sail more quickly to the area, the Defense Department said Sunday.

The U.S. and other allies are pushing for Israel and Hamas to achieve a cease-fire agreement that could help calm soaring tensions in the region following the assassination of Haniyeh and Shukr.

Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder, Pentagon press secretary, said in a statement that Austin spoke with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant earlier in the day, and reiterated America's commitment "to take every possible step to defend Israel and noted the strengthening of U.S. military force posture and capabilities throughout the Middle East in light of escalating regional tensions."

Uh - sinking an aircraft carrier is often worth the effort and do it when the planes are taking off and landing for maximum effect.

My guess is a single hypersonic missile coming in so fast it can't be defended against is all it will take - and odds are the folks in Yemen already have one in their hands. As well as the folks in Iran, North Korea, and other places you elitist fools. Hard lessons on the way. Gator - I think tis time to sink one of them and then lets see if they can hide that refutation of the ignominy. I doubt they can - and perhaps there ought be drones to create a video of it all - but don't let the drones potentially disrupt the mission of the intent to send a hypersonic missile into a carrier - if that is the intent don't try to turn it into narrative above and beyond - just let the missile speak for itself. Others will likely capture images of the event - and let it be a total unexpected event with a message of determination for peace.

And for good measure - if the missile is sent to knock out an Aircraft Carrier, might as well get another the next day and another the day after that - even if it is in port - and at the same time have the missiles targeted upon the heads of those individuals directly responsible for keeping humanity from waking up to our shared past and are shared responsibility. We here have front row seats to the main event seems about to start. I'd say being more awake and aware has taken a lot of fear away but also being cognizant of the implications and knowing that most of my fellows are deeply asleep makes it more difficult.

I saw something Dr. Yeadon said recently that resonated with me - he said we can't stop bringing up topics some would just assume not discuss because it almost is "our duty" to tell it as we sense it - and maybe some will take note - and really - learning is a two way street.

I feel blessed to have friends and family who on par are not "so delicate" that we let opinions harm long-time relationships - my friends and family know that I " put it on the table " best I can - but I'm more the willing to say "I'm sorry" if I offend without thinking, and we all got a lot to learn - that is the beauty in a way ain't it - learning...
