In a startling development, Moscow has accused the United States of financing assassination attempts on both Russian President Vladimir Putin and former US President Donald Trump. The accusations came shortly after Ukrainian spy chief Kyrylo Budanov admitted to failed attempts on Putin's life. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova alleged that American funds were behind these plots, condemning the US for supporting what she termed as a terrorist regime in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Trump was targeted at a rally in Pennsylvania, where a gunman attacked but was swiftly neutralized by the Secret Service. The incident has sparked international concern and raised questions about political violence amid upcoming elections in both countries.

Hours after former US President Donald Trump was hurt in an assassination attempt, Moscow charged on Sunday that the US was funding attempts in Ukraine to kill Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Moscow's accusations followed Ukrainian spy director Kyrylo Budanov's admission in an interview on Saturday of his nation's botched assassination efforts reports RT.

"There have been assassination attempts [on Putin], but, as you can see, they haven't been successful so far," the Ukrainian military intelligence chief told the New Voice news outlet.

When the interview surfaced, the Kremlin moved quickly to dismiss the remarks, with spokesperson Dmitry Peskov being quoted in Russian media as stating that the attempts were "obvious."

"All the threats coming from the Kyiv regime are obvious. Therefore, the security of the president is established at the proper level," Russian state-owned media outlet RT quoted him as saying.

However, Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, charged the next day that Washington was behind the assassination attempts in Ukraine.

"Yesterday, one of the leaders of the Kyiv regime, Budanov, openly admitted that Ukrainian intelligence was preparing assassination attempts on the President of Russia. So this assassination attempt was prepared, again, with American money," she wrote on Telegram on Sunday.

She claimed that the United States had "created a terrorist structure in Ukraine — the Kyiv regime" by giving "massive funding and uncontrolled supply of weapons." This is a machine that targets civilians as well as political figures with murders, explosions, devastation, and terrorist acts.

Perhaps it would be wiser to spend this money to fund American law enforcement and other agencies that are responsible for maintaining order within the country, the Russian spokesperson joked in a post that was made public a few hours after a gunman opened fire on Trump during an election event in Butler, Pennsylvania.

At the Trump rally, two bystanders suffered serious injuries and one attendee died. Following the dramatic episode on Saturday, the Secret Service declared that it had apprehended and killed the suspected gunman, claiming that he had attacked from an elevated position outside the rally location.

When asked if the Trump attack will have an impact on the legitimacy of the next US election, Peskov responded, "It is not for us to judge." We have not the slightest desire to interfere. This is a US matter."

Putin has stated that US-Russian ties have suffered under Trump's administration and that the outcome of the US presidential election is unlikely to have any impact on Russia.

However, the Russian president has shown public interest in Trump's claims that he might put an end to the conflict in Ukraine, stating that while he is unsure of the specifics, he is in favor of the idea in principle.

Nonetheless, the Biden administration was accused by the Kremlin of fostering an environment that led to the assault on Trump.

The Kremlin spokesperson told reporters on Sunday, "We do not believe that the attempt to eliminate and assassinate Trump was organized by the current authorities." "But the atmosphere around candidate Trump... provoked what America is confronting today."

According to US President Joe Biden, there is no place for such brutality in America and he has condemned the act. According to Peskov, any violence during a political conflict is opposed by Russia.

In light of the situation, he said, there were no plans for Putin to phone Trump.
