Pennsylvania high school to host 'After School Satan Club' event

The Satanic Temple (TST) is planning on hosting an "After School Satan Club" back-to-school event at a Pennsylvania high school next month.

On Tuesday, Officials from Northern York County School District approved the event to be hosted at Northern High School in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, Fox 43 reported.

Dillsburg is the same town where a local school board shot down TST from hosting an "After School Satan Club" event at an elementary school in April, Breitbart News reported at the time.

Parents and residents expressed their staunch opposition to the organization hosting an event in the community back in April.

"They already took God out of schools now they're going to let Satan in, it's just crazy," said Perry County Resident Jennifer McAllister back in April, according to Fox 34.

"There is a lot of evil already in this world, so to allow it to come into our school and our community is not OK," another parent, Laura Vangeli, said at the time via WHP.

A spokesman from the temple said the event should be viewed similarly to religious freedom law.

"We're talking about upholding fundamental pillars of democracy and the First Amendment," said Lucien Graves, a co-founder of TST.

"The Northern York County School District released a statement about the event, saying that it does not endorse the activity of outside organizations that rent its facilities," according to Fox 34.

In May, parents and other protesters prayed and rallied against TST from hosting a similar "After School Satan Club" event at an elementary school in Greensboro, North Carolina, Breitbart News noted.

After the Supreme Court ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade in June, TST deemed itself a "beacon of light" in pushing for pro-abortion policies. The temple's website further claims that "Satanic abortions are protected by religious liberty laws."

The temple announced that it was recognized as a "church" with tax-exempt status by the IRS, Breitbart News noted in 2019.

I was raised Catholic and what I was taught vs. what the public thinks the church believes (and even what casual members of a given parish think the Vatican believes) are quite at odds. I don't consider myself Catholic anymore (because the Church considers my views heresy while I think of them as "advanced"), but I still do go to mass occasionally with family and peruse some of the publications, and I know what luciferianism is, and it's not what the Church itself teaches.

I was raised Christian Orthodox. I think it's kind of irrelevant who and how anyone worships, intent (kind of) and outcome is what counts. That school satan club is probaby just mocking the religious/spiritual/freedom of religion hypocrisy.

I think along the lines that we are inherintly evil (original sin much ? Lol) no matter what we believe in,cause we don't know any better. It's a dog eats dog world paired up with survival/self-preservation instincts.

It's kind of weird that, eg christians exterminated Cathars(for saying "modern at the time" christians and church got tricked in worshiping devil), did some nasty shit during inquisition, extermination crusades and shortly after: oops, all good now, nothing to see here. Then you have pedo priests covered in gold and luxary preaching values and morals without anyone questioning much. Vatican hiding artifacts from public eye. Not to mention how strange bible is with their vengeful God where you burn for the eternity for disobedience or wrong choices. Punished for learning through experience ? Something is at odds here. But public does not seem too reactive to anyone having christian club in school, satanic club "oddity" is perceived from the lense of the christian dogma or associated stigmas in society.

Lewis was a genius. I remember reading all seven books in the Narnia series to my kids as bedtime stories when they were little. What a joy, even for this adult kid. His books for adult audiences are also very good. Very thoughtful, meaning inspired by deep thought, not merely being a "nice, thoughtful person."

Artex My spouses family is Catholic. Since my kids were there in the CCD program, I went to go see the Pastor. He was a nice man, if not a simpleton, and he listened respectfully to my personal faith story, my "advanced" views of spirituality and how dogma inspires ignorance and discourages real introspection. He recognized my sincerity, couldn't really contradict anything I said, and even agreed that Catholicism teaches "kindergarten spirituality" when I stated it that way.

In my view, it teaches nothing of value that can't be found elsewhere, and what's left is mindless obedience.

ge0m0 I've watched a few interviews with priests and others in the Vatican and I understand them. US priests and parishioners, like you said, kindergarten spirituality. Especially interesting to listen to the Vatican scientists who are also priests. That's when I started realizing people don't know the organization to which they belong.

I'm heading to Kedarnath Temple in the Himalaya in October under the guidance of a Himalayan Master. His shtick is Vedic Sanatan Dharma, and as I understand it after 14 years studying with Guruji, that's the much older science of which you speak. There's even an illusion to it in the setup to Laura's recent book on Paleo-Christianity, wherein the march towards our current religious milieu has a common root in the Vedas and Upanishads.

This journey to Kedarnath is a calling for me, a bucket list item with a particular karmic charge, which makes an interesting story that would take a whole book to describe. Suffice it to say since I committed to the trek and got all my plans arranged, there is already noticeable shift in perspective. To get there requires a 22 km walk with an 1800m vertical climb topping out around 3600m. My preparations include walking meditation, and the Presence is palpable during those walks. I once had an experience at sunset where each ray of light was seen as a living, sort of holographic form of Guruji, and each leaf was covered with them like so many drops of dew, and the cars on the road around me were the same, and those driving the cars were the same and Absolutely Adorable, and that light was simply an extension of the Cosmic Sun whose face was behind our Sol...I was bawling at 70mph through the Poconos, utterly humbled and grateful. This Presence is like That, but softer. Thank goodness for the softer part, or the neighbors might get concerned to see this form blubbering along the sidewalks.

The place was built by Adi Shanaracharya 1200 years ago. It's survived being covered by a glacier for a few centuries, also the massive flooding in 2013. Shankaracharya's mission was to spread the Dharma in a way that got people back in balance with the five elements and in an orientation directed towards the Supreme Brahman. Kedarnath was part of that mission. I feel like I've been there before.

I for one welcome TST's efforts to highlight the hypocrisy in policy and violation of the constitution by governmental bodies. Whether anyone actually attends these clubs is beside the point. If TST isn't welcome, than neither should other religious organizations when sponsored by the state.

HashAttack2 Seems to. I didn't test this when I got my religious exemption for the vaccine. I'm baptized Catholic, so I used that for mine. I would have preferred to call myself a conscientious objector, but I'd read people who did that were having their exemption requests rejected even though you're not supposed to have to prove your religiosity to get a religious exemption. Conscientious objection is supposed to count for people who are areligious.
