I should add this though. Over the years in this neighborhood I have seen some incredible bees. I remember some blue ones, big and less so, particularly well. Just saw one of those the other day. Maybe they will fill in the gap a bit, but bees are like the canary in the coal mine. We need bees more than they need us.
I have a friend who moved to your part of the world a few years back, over by Gastonia, he and his wife absolutely love it. Especially compared to the Wisconsin winters that he is accustomed to. He has been telling me to move to your area, but I don't think I'm ready to move halfway across the country as of this time. Maybe when I get sick and tired of the long cold winters here...

i've raised italian, australian, and domestic, but by far, the most hardy and mite resistant bees came from the land of the "Z".
I will let you know of something freaky goes down,,like if my honeybees mate with a yellow jacket, do you get a honey jacket, and to catch them do you use a honey trap?

Did you know that in the UK some of the paratroopers there use Pegasus in their insignia? I didn't know that till just a few moments ago and check this out:
