Eighty-six more carcasses were found on Bazaruto Island, north of the capital Maputo, on Tuesday, after a first group was washed ashore on Sunday.
The cause of the deaths is still unknown, the country's environment ministry said, and more experts are heading to the site.
One possible experts are investigating is if a cyclone may have contributed.
Last week's Cyclone Guambe caused unrest in the waters off the island of Bazaruto, the head of inspection at the Bazaruto Archipelago National Park, Tomás Manasse, said.
He added that dolphins are known to follow their leader to shore when they are in danger.
The autopsy did not conclusively find problems with the skin, tongue or intestines, he said, however, more samples have been sent to a laboratory in Maputo.

(I just memory holed my first response and got away with it! Maybe. After all, we know the scumbags at the NSA get the entire net pumped into their computers' maws.)

So this particular report touched and brought many treasured memories, as I enjoyed so many holidays on both Margaruque and Bazaruto. These islands framed by Indian Ocean seas of the most spectacular beauty and brilliance the eye can ever hope to feast on -- all hues of blue, more exquisite than even the Greek Island seas, any day! Seems like another lifetime now ...
Yes, while Codis is correct -- we know the Universe is ever in a state of flux, while those of us living now, are simply witness to another era of profound and evermore cataclysmic changes impacting our solar system and our backyard so to speak -- directly and whether we prepare for what will soon be upon us, or not, is of little matter in the Greater Scheme of things ...
Sorry to bring such sombre notes, but to my mind, for many centuries now, what constitutes as modern day humanity, has been degenerating into the most shockingly self serving generations, that we deserve Nature ridding herself of the filthy flotsam we've become -- while a rare, rare few have warned and pleaded we become worthy stewards of the precious blue ball we all call home ... to no avail.
For surely had we applied our energy positively our consciousness to higher and finer pursuits ... such caring endeavours, would have lessened the impact not only on humanity -- but with everything in Creation interconnected -- it would have generated the positive energy flow capable of softening the horrific effects and blows, millions are increasingly facing and all will soon come to face. But as the old saying goes -- united we stand, but divided we fall ...

On a more positive note, we live in truly interesting times.
In a fair and equitable world one could have said, everybody's afforded an equal shot at it all -- but sadly we don't live in a world where every every human being is afforded the opportunity to reach their full potential -- never mind live in peace and harmony with and in service to each other and everything around us.
When in reality, had the leaders of old been wise, rather than overflowing with greed to conquer, exploit and own everything they laid eyes upon, we would have remained in touch with our inner selves -- our natural inclination fostered from the outset, to reach out and uplift each other and to care for our planet and every living organism, which contributes to maintaining its perfectly engineered balance.
Then humanity of all stripes would have bloomed in harmony with nature and each other, had become and remained productive, active and fit, healthy and fulfilled human beings, long ago celebrating our diversity, in acceptance of everyone's race, creed and culture. Can you imagine the music, song and dance ringing all over our planet, in tune with it's natural resonance!
But our ignorance to this day, is only matched by our stupefying arrogance -- our fixation on the transient and perishable-- the more and more -- never enough! When in fact our needs are very simple and the simpler they are, the more contented we are within ourselves ...
Reminds me of the words a wise friend once shared with me --
"E ven when I own a castle on a magnificent estate, with hundred's of rooms, I can only sleep in one room and one bed at a time. Still, if I own nothing, my eyes can still revel in the beauty of everything around me -- without owning any of it. So it is, that the more possessed we are, the less assessed we are. Earn your living and do your duties, but seek quiet and solitude everyday, for then you will find who you really are -- is infinitely more than this mortal body of clay."
But our ignorance to this day, is only matched by our stupefying arrogance -- our fixation on the transient and perishable-- the more and more -- never enough! When in fact our needs are very simple and the simpler they are, the more contented we are within ourselves ...I marked the points I disagree with ...
I do not follow this collectivist approach of "we" thinking. Not only we are all individuals, but it reminds me very much of my childhood in a authoritarian communist environment, were everybody was supposed to have the same opinion, and think the same way.
Today, an only marginally different groupthink approach is indoctrinated into us from early childhood. Unless man learns to differ between his own thoughts and those injected by others, he will always remain a slave. And learns to make his own decisions, and takes responsibility for those.
I sense a more emotional approach to thinking in your post. Which is more common with women. Just speculating ...
Both humanity and many life forms, experiencing increasing distress on so many levels and fronts, that it is an outright assault virtually from all sides. Broadly speaking, most of the "we" I referred to, are the many -- their actions clearly showing that, undermined by the few, they have had enough of a global system, it would seem, was deliberately flawed from the get go to suppress the many and this system is now in the process of reaping what it has sown -- while causing great suffering to the many.
To crown it all Nature herself is in a cyclical renewal, none the less an upheaval for all life forms-- while many weather scientists will confirm, that the PTB have weaponised the weather long ago, in order to achieve the unholy mission they'd embarked upon from the get go -- determined as ever -- to own, control and dominate the "we" consisting of the global many.
Their destructive agenda however, is not embraced by other world powers -- indicating clearly that far greater fireworks are on the cards,
So this is how I see it, while like you, others, may not see it like me either ... but these are my sincere thoughts on it all and with that I rest my case
