Groucho Marx defined politics as "The art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedies." One could hardly come up with a better definition of postmodern politics. On today's show we discuss the psychological roots of this postmodern mayhem, which is manifesting in radical racial/gender politics in classrooms and universities, Antifa mobs on the streets, and mass censorship in Silicon Valley.

Corey Schink was born and raised in the Midwestern United States, where he worked on farms and as a welder, musician, and social worker. Words as weapons, funny sounds like a lot of people here on sott. They don't like what someone else says they cdondemn them as being wrong even if it is only their opinion. Heaven forbid someone doesn't think like you. What about grammer, or punctuation, or maybe spelling. I've noticed lately these are all reasons to ridicule another person, even the so called editors do it. Reminds me of being in kindergarten STICKS AND STONES CAN BREAK MY BONES BUT WORDS CAN NEVER HURT ME.

cracker I don't know if your below post was posted before or after HFL's; they both say "about an hour ago."*

I believe HFL's comment of simply the spelling of "grammar" is being* facetious** as there are few if any posts that are grammatically perfect; although I have been so accused recently of so posting. (For example, he did not point out "cdondemn" as it's obvious you meant "condemn." and part of me is being facetious in pointing that out at all.)

Beyond all that, I agree with your point - especially, "Sticks and stones...". Indeed, I know I have here, at some point, posted the same words, and, as a general guideline for life, I often quote/paraphrase the title of the book. "Everything I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten."

*Hey, SOTT I.T. GUY SCOTT/SCOTTIE: I say bring back the UTC dates and times rather than "about a year ago"; "about a week ago", etc.! It far better helps in the communications. (I am aware of the fact that IF cracker had 'properly' posted his follow up words as a reply, than as a new comment, I could at least then tell the order of things, but how much harder is it to have the exact dates and times of posts?)

My own opinion is that the use of "about x ago" is a change for the worse (wherever it first came from) reflecting, or at least consistent with, the generalized 'dumbing down' of society. "And dis hyar home boy beez not down witchat!"

** *IMHO, improperly, as I always believe that when dealing with written communication, ALL facetiousness, sarcasm, et al. should be declared in a fashion like this footnote.

Rowan Cocoan I tend to think people's ability to think and communicate clearly has rapidly declined in tandem with their continued exposure to man-made EMF's. I think that's also key to people's predilection for sloganeering rather than expressing original thought.

Great show chaps, and on how the ponerogenic process plays into the postmodern "movement".

That those of lesser ability and lower intelligence are seeking power, and are supported by those in the shadows, is a situation that cannot end well. The SJWs etc, are to me anyway, psychologically still at the toddler stage, as they cannot reconcile reality even in its basic forms. These movements do attract all types of abnormal people.

Anyway, the quote of the day does shine a light on this: "Intelligence is the capacity to receive, decode and transmit information efficiently. Stupidity is blockage of this process at any point. Well, with the levels of hysteria that can be generated sometimes over words, I wouldn’t be surprised if militant grammarians didn’t take to the streets demanding tighter controls on prose, and like all things these days it would ultimately descend into an all-out punctuation situation, full stop without a question.

Some grammarians have gone so far as to let loose their terrible thesaurus on innocent commentators, and robbing them of any verb, such is the state of the world these days.

It’s the same with Antifa, I just don’t know the epistemological significance of it all, as somebody stole my dictionary and my thesaurus has gone for a walk.

The proper response to the radical post-modernist attempt to use language to attack reality is disdain rather than outrage. Avoid the outrage that arises from antipathy (Nietzsche's 'ressentiment') because it just ends up inflating narcissistic egos and leading to pointless, energy-depleting conflict. Those who indulge in outrage just end up feeding the underlying power goals being pursued through untruth. Don't give it them that food. Instead, give them disdain. A calm denial of lies is adequate. The lies will inevitably consume the liar, and will do so more quickly when they have nothing external to feed upon.

In sentiment one could go along with that, although watch out for bicycle lock carrying post-modernist professors, you can be calm they might be hiding in wait.

The girl seems as if she’s suffering from some sort of psychosis that might have been induced by postmodern studies and maybe if you were the person responsible for the snow flags then a calm denial of lies might be adequate and it might just result in embarrassment for the young girl, although it seems unlikely.

In the real world reasonable people would think rightly that those were snow flags end of... although when it comes to lies, one could laugh at the idea that you were placing symbols of male domination to mark out areas defining space spaces for cars.

And that saying, ‘sticks and stones...’ is bollocks because people can get fired, lose their homes, family... all depending on the specific situation.

Was doing some recursive journalling/thinking earlier today on this. Here are some notes/observations (not absolutes) from the POV of a designer for inventing a "concept":

· Institutions/Universities seem to teach you what to think not how to think

· Concepts are just ideas and are not absolute/grounded; need constant "testing"

· Principles are more grounded/weighted because constructive criticism can be applied based to historical observation; consistent results for constant evaluation

As for postmodern corp "hubris" I saw good example of a photo posted with an Indian man holding a nicely designed card that reads Google Go. When I first read it I thought he was making a commentary on google and telling them to get out, but quickly realized, no it is for a new app called Google Go >.<

Anyways...look forward to listening and thanks for putting this together!
