Earlier on Thursday, NBC News claimed citing unnamed US intelligence officials that Putin was allegedly personally involved in cyberattacks that impacted the 2016 presidential election.

In response to the publication, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow considers such reports a "funny nonsense."

"I was simply stunned when I saw this so-called 'news' on the screen. I can't even add anything. In my opinion, it is obviously foolish and pointless to try and convince anyone of such thing,"
Lavrov said as cited on the official website of the ministry.
