The footage, uploaded by the Texas Unidentified Flying Object Research Center (TUFORC), contains six seconds of "telescopic video imaging" of the moon.
During it an object appears to move quickly down its surface.
Later in the video it says the triangle "craft" was evident in "multiple" frames.
Well-known alien hunter Tyler Glockner uploaded it to his YouTube channel secureteam10 , saying the original footage of the "massive, miles-long" object was sent to him by a man called Steve.
Responding to comments below the footage, TUFORC said: "People who think it was a bird or bug really don't understand what they are seeing or understand telescope or video camera focal points or depth of field.
"One other thing to note. A satellite traveling in earth orbit passes the entire moon in less than a second of time. This UFO was viewed for at least six seconds over a small part of the moon surface."
Tyler Glockner was also responsible for sharing footage of a horse-shoe shaped object near the International Space Station a few weeks ago.
NASA was accused of an alien cover up after their live feed went down shortly after.

A fly walking on the "objective lens" (the lens nearest the object being photographed) would be completely out of focus and undiscernable as a fly!
Must be huge, lots of real nice 'friends'.
