The President seemed to relish signing the order, calling the relocation a "win-win for America," and indicating that Congress could be moved to its new headquarters "immediately."
"We don't envision doing any renovations to the facility down there," he said. "It is ready to house Congress right now."
The President did not specify what the current U.S. Capitol building would be used for in the future, but he hinted that it could be the setting for historic reënactments in the manner of Colonial Williamsburg.
"I think it could be fascinating to school groups," he said. "It could really take them back to the olden days when it was a real, functioning place."
Minutes after the President signed the order, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) called it "an outrage" and "grounds for impeachment," but Obama appeared to take such howls of protest in stride.
"If Congress believes that this executive order is illegal, they can take it up with the Supreme Court," he said. "Oh wait—we don't have a Supreme Court."
Showing his dedication to the long-suffering American public , Mr Obama acceded to the pleas of 49 of the state governors, Michigan having declared they would extract every penny from their citizens to pay for 'clean water', to permit local councils of tax payers to enact tax legislation and void the Congress-produced legislation.
In yet another unexpected development Mr Obama attached a rider to the Congressional move law that sends 2 aides for every Congressman/Congresswoman to the Guantamo base new congressional site as full time helpers. The previous young people deemed to impressionable to be in close contact with such hardened self-interests, the new aides have the backgound to be fully prepared to deal with such intractable personalities. Their unique talents and insights and gained from years of specialized psychlogical terrorizing and the fact they are fully capable of defending themselves from Congressional talents won out over the prison wardens who desired to test their facilities and guards on this specialized population. In signifying their manipulative skills that are expected to be given free reign in Guantamo, the aides have chosen for themselves the name: ANGELS OF DEATH, referencing their psychological knowledge and their skilled use of Versed, Propofol and post hypnotic suggestion.
