Texas Association of Dairymen executive director Darren Turley said an estimated 15,000 mature dairy cows died in the storm's primary impact area — from Lubbock west to Muleshoe and north to Friona which is home to half of the state's top-10 milk producing counties and produces 40 per cent of the state's milk.
An agent with New Mexico State University's extension service told Turley the area around Clovis, New Mexico, lost an estimated 20,000 dairy cows.
The number of younger animals killed by Winter Storm Goliath in each state could be just as high as the mature cows, he said.
There will be less milk coming from the region for a while, Turley said,
The snow was just one part of Goliath. It was the wind that led to drifts as high as 14 feet, where many animals died. Wind will push animals into a fenced corner where they can suffocate in snow drifts.
"It's a once-in-a-lifetime (storm)," Turley said. "It's a bad deal for producers."
The losses will affect production for about year, he said.
During the storm dairy employees and tanker trucks from reaching farms. Hundreds of loads of milk ready for processing were wasted. Some cows normally milked twice a day went almost two days without being milked, which dries up the cows' milk supply, Turley said.
"The ripples from that are going to depend on how fast those animals' milk production comes back," Turley said.
The Texas producers are working with state environmental officials to find ways to dispose of the carcasses. Some counties are allowing producers to put carcasses in their landfills.
Andle van der Ploeg, owner of Mid-Frisian Dairy near Clovis, said Thursday that he lost just 10 animals, but feels great sympathy for producers he knows who lost hundreds of milk cows.
"It was unbelievable," he said.

The New Testament includes a warning from Jesus to "Pray that your flight may not be in winter, nor on the sabbath". What does this mean? The first part is a warning to get out of the Northern Hemisphere. Soon there will be 30 foot snows wiping out entire populations of human beings. Unbeknownst to us the same increase in seismic activity and volcanism we are witnessing on the surface of the planet is happening underneath the oceans, heating the water and increasing the rate of evaporation right at the same time that the Sun is shutting down.
Want to know an amazing fact about the Bible? What I regard as the single most important sentence in the whole New Testament is absent from all but the Aramaic translation. Can you imagine that? Someone successfully removed part of Jesus's warning about the end times from practically every Bible on the planet. As I open it to the worn and tattered pages of Luke 21, I read at the end of verse 11 "and the winters will be severe." Google it. I just did and got only 330 hits. I tell you of a truth the first time I Googled it years ago I got just one hit. Still, with the whole world talking about the ends times, only 330 hits is still amazing.
So what does "nor on the sabbeth" mean? Unless you stop thinking of the New Testament as a religious text and realize that Jesus's primary mission was to disclose what the secret societies of his day (the Pythagoreans) were hiding from us, you will never understand the Bible. The Old Testament is basically a recording of what happened when Venus was bumping up against our planet's magnetosphere. And it did in fact cause the waters of the Red Sea to part for the Jewish people, which gave birth to a very peculiar people. The New Testament is a warning about what is going to happen at the end of this solar cycle. "Pray that your flight may no be...on the sabbeth" is a further warning to get out of the Northern Hemisphere now, not later. It is a warning not to wait until the last moment.
Laura and all the others screaming that Jesus never existed fail to realize that he deliberately manifested (made real) ancient prophecy concerning the Messiah or Sun king. His declaration that if we killed his body that he would raise it up again in three days (like the Sun at winter solstice) was an important part of his mission, not an indication that he never existed. What sane person would surmise that a moment as unstoppable as Christianity was totally fabricated? It is hard to kick against the pricks, and soon it will cost you your life.
His healing work is what made it impossible to completely remove him from history. His followers were too loyal to be so erased. They were healed of severe maladies and their gratitude and amazement of this man's power on Earth was too strong for the Pythagoreans (now known as the Freemasons) to completely erase from history. That is why his words survived. Not because some Romans wanted to control your thought. God knows they tried. First they just killed all of their leaders and devoted followers. But when that failed to suppress the movement they took control of the church. "Revelation" is their baby, their invention and a critical part of their plan for these end times. All this talk about an Antichrist is purely their invention to distract us at the end, waiting for sequences of events that they know will *never* happen. The only real Antichrist is the thought that says Jesus never existed. In the real New Testament Jesus referred to this thought as "false prophets."
At the right magnification, the pupil of the all-seeing eye on the one dollar bill includes and upside down Donald Duck. Look elsewhere and you will find a drowning Swami indicating the death of religion. You want a clear look into the thought of the secret societies today? Study "Tomorrowland" closely. Add up the numerical sequences on the countdowns. Pay particular significance to what is being said when the lead actor intensely stares into the camera lens. But most people will drown when the oceans wash up over the continents after the change in the axial tilt. So you may want to rethink how badly you want to keep that job of yours. Maybe you should think about getting yourself and your family to safety. This is why Jesus healed the masses, so that his warning to us would not be lost in history. He wants his followers to survive what is about to happen. Or rather, what is happening even now.
