During his 700 Club program that airs on Disney-owned ABC Family, Robertson took a question from a viewer who asked the TV preacher what she should say to a grieving co-worker whose baby recently died.
After her co-worker asked her "Why did God allow my baby to die?" she told the mother that "God sees the whole picture," but wanted to know if Robertson had anything to add.
First, Robertson tried to absolve God of any blame for the baby's death, instead suggesting that the death could be due to human error.
And then Robertson heartlessly stated that God may have killed her baby to prevent the child from growing up to be a serial killer or murderous tyrant."More and more in the New Testament era, we have come to realize that human beings have an agency, that have responsibility, and a lot of things happen because humans do. I mean people die in hospitals because of medical malpractice - somebody cuts the wrong thing, somebody dies. It happens all the time. Nurse gives the patient the wrong medicine - are you going to blame that on God? That's not God, that's people."
Here's the video via Right Wing Watch:"As far as God's concerned, he knows the end from the beginning and He sees a little baby and that little baby could grow up to be Adolf Hitler, he could grow up to be Joseph Stalin, he could grow up to be some serial killer, or he could grow up to die of a hideous disease. God sees all of that, and for that life to be terminated while he's a baby, he's going to be with God forever in Heaven so it isn't a bad thing."
This is perhaps the most unbelievably callous bullshit Robertson has ever uttered. He has told poor people to keep tithing the church and has called for physically abusing children until they accept the Christian faith, but this goes beyond cruel. Not only does this grieving mother have to deal with the fact that her baby died, she's now being told that her baby might have been killed by God because the child could have been a mass murderer or a evil monster. That is far from comforting a mother who is in pain. It's downright despicable.
What kind of a "Christian" would say such a terrible thing? The answer is a fake one who is also a sh**ty human being who lacks compassion for others. It's time for Pat Robertson to retire.

. . . just another run amok whackjob pulling down a quarter mill' a week in the Land of the Endlessly Gullible. Same old, same old . . .
I hope the mum didn't get sucked in though, it's bad enough to lose a child w/o some idiot blithering nonsense in one's face about it.
A sick thing to say to a grieving mother, cruel and horribly cruel.
Well, Mr. Robertson, God didn't kill Hitler or Stalin or Mao or Napoleon, so there goes that 'maybe'.
He might have well just picked up a stone and hurled it.
To make those comments to a grieving mother is unconscionable, so a man of conscience, he is not. It's all about personal gain at the expense of others. To be a follower of this individual and hear those comments must have devastated this grieving mother and caused even more trauma.
What comes out of an a**hole.
I see religion as the intellectual construct - a system designed to control and manipulate people - and I suppose a religion without a headline act doesn't cut it ... so step forward the introduction of God as a concept
The "creator" is constant whereas these make believe "gods" of religions are numerous and change every couple of thousand of years
In the passage of the bible you refer, in my humble opinion , one should interpret the word "word" as a vibration... Why?
The tiniest molecules of your body, for example, are vibrating, thats how they keep themselves together.
Everything vibrates, the frequency of the vibration varies from object to object, from being to being...
So, in the beginning there was a vibration, with a vibration, the UNIVERSE!
As above, so below...
. . . literally.
By which I mean to say that for the very most part the naming of a thing, the fusing of it in one's mind to a largely unsubstantiatble concept, to a mere symbol, is to fundamentally separate one's self from its Actual Reality.
In the main, mere symbols have no correlates in what might be called a Greater Reality.
Having convinced one's self then that the mere word is in fact the Real Thing is to have created an ungrounded, idiocentric mental playground where, pretty much, anything goes.
And if such inciting of separation from any Greater Reality isn't what the Bible is essentially all about then I'm missing something . . .
Good Optics, when you say a word, what happens?
Your vocal chords VIBRATE.
Your vocal chords vibrate and a word is CREATED.
This is an idea that at this moment satisfies me, maybe tomorow i learn something that will make me throw this idea on the trash can, who knows?
As for the bible, my position is that was long hijacked by control obsessed people, if they can be called people...
And the percentage of truth on the bible currently is low.
As for Greater Reality, i dont know what it is.
. . . as I think of it is everything 'outside' of our beloved little 3D STS chicken coup.
So for starters, there is no time, thoughts are experienced as quite literally bringing themselves into Being, the speed of light as some kind of ceiling is a non-starter, vastly more information is at hand, and other stuff like that.
I like that, the idea of time being an illusion is something that i think of almost every day.
And distance? What if distance is an ilusion too?
That would mean that nothing is separated, that the concept of "many" is also an illusion and that everything that exists is only ONE thing!
But as long money dominates our 3º density landscape, we can only wonder about these things...
This particular biped should be held as an example/a learning tool; of what the average Human Being should aspire Not to Be.
Just watching the video gave me the creeps. His beady dead eyes and damn near pointed ears give indication alone that he is
exactly what he appear to be-- just a biped with a psychopathic personality, making tons of money preying upon peoples misery
and lack of knowledge. He serves his 'god' well indeed.
And we need to prevent the next Pat Robertson... with education...
This from the guy who said God caused the Haiti earthquake because they practice voodoo and thus are devil worshippers. What a waste of flesh this man is.
Just look at those shark like coal black eyes and tell me you see a human being inside that skull.
Warmth and light, The light of their words should lift the blindness from our eyes and the warmth of their being should seep into our soul. If these qualities are missing, then you are following the the wrong person.Warmth and light;Pat don't got it.
I'm Christan, but I'm gonna have to agree with Stephen D Foster Jr.'s conclusion. Thanks for taking a dump on the alter, grandpa. Glad to see you're still "regular," Pat. Folks need to realize that fiction is what television excels at. They've never had but a loose grasp on truth ever. It's not what they do. Their news, documentaries, and their churches should all be prefaced with a disclaimer. If you want, really want the truth, be it religious truth or scientific truth, you're gonna have to get your hands dirty. You're gonna have to have deeds, not just words. What sounds good to man isn't even usually right. Once you get out there and put your science or your religion to the test you'll find that more than a few of the people you thought were experts (because they sounded solid, or where popular) are actually pretty flimsy. I'm not surprised Pat pooped in his mouth again. I'm more weirded out that Bruce Jenner wants to pretend he's a chick now, and everybody thinks that's a brave accomplishment. Now that's a crazy grandpa, IMO. This here is a non-story. You should hear the crap Joel Osteen is selling to his flock if you want to wag your morals and intellect at Christians. Yes, we should indeed be ashamed, but I'm not convinced I'm really in the same religion they are. This TBN and 700 club stuff does nothing for me except make me upset. I love my Bible, but I can't stand what people call church and I don't understand how if you read the book this should catch anybody by surprise. This story repeats itself so often that I tell people just open the Bible to any random page and if you read for five minutes you will be reading a story about how religious leadership sucks so bad that it provokes God to cursing and breaking stuff (Moses and Jesus too).
Like I said, I think this is non-news but it inspired me to rant anyway, didn't it? Thanks for the ride.
The Lizard King barks at his emptied vessels.
Watching most 21st Century televangelists is to suspend disbelief and ride the rehearsed emotions of a dead-eyed psychopathic actor.
People spend hours in front of awful things becoming awful things.
