As you will soon see, there has been no let up in these kinds of incidents, in fact, they appear to be increasing quite dramatically of late, with 155 occurring over the 31 days of May, an average of 5 per day. It's very likely some reports have been missed.

God forbid, but looking at all these incidents one could be forgiven for perhaps getting a foreboding sense that it's only a matter of time before another major tragedy involving a large commercial airliner occurs.

The airline says Hawaiian flight No. 24 left Kahului airport at 11:18 a.m. Friday, bound for Oakland, California. The flight crew declared an emergency and the plane returned to Kahului at 11:50 a.m.

This morning, Johnson County Sheriff's Office responded to an aircraft that was forced to make an emergency landing just west of the Gardner Municipal Airport. A 1994 Long EZ aircraft took off from New Century Airport and shortly after take-off, the pilot began experiencing engine trouble. The pilot turned for an emergency landing at Gardner Municipal Airport but was unable to make the airport and landed in the southwest field at 175th St. and Four Corners at approximately 09:50 am. There are no injuries reported. The incident is being investigated by the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, in cooperation with the Federal Aviation Administration.Air Force says some crew members treated after fire on jet:

Offutt Air Force Base spokesman Delanie Stafford said Friday that the RC-135V/W Rivet Joint aircraft was stopped around 6:30 p.m. Thursday before it could leave on a local training flight. He says none of the 27 on board suffered serious injuries.
Stafford says base firefighters put out the blaze inside the fuselage of the four-engine jet, which is configured for intelligence and reconnaissance missions. The fire cause and the extent of the repairs needed are being investigated.

Alaska Airlines Flight 76 was en route from Juneau, Alaska to Seattle, Washington, when problems arose with one of the plane's two electrical systems.
The Boeing 737-400 touched down in Vancouver shortly before 5 p.m. local time on Sunday.

On May 19th 2015 the French BEA reported in their weeky bulletin that the windshield cracked and smoke occurred. The occurrence was rated a serious incident, the NTSB is investigating.

Six people were injured, including four foreign tourists, when a small airplane crashed shortly after taking off for an aerial tour of the famed Nazca Lines in southern Peru.Plane Crash Reported in Burnsville, North Carolina
The tourists were on board with a pilot and copilot in a 1982 Cessna 206 plane, owned by Aero Palcazu, which organizes flights over the ancient geoglyphs.
The accident occurred just after the plane had taken off, according to daily El Comercio, fortunately falling only about five meters to the ground and knocking over various light posts after it had left the Maria Reiche airport, located on the outskirts of Nazca city.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to a small plane crash at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to a release from Sheriff Thomas Smith.
Sheriff Smith said the plane crashed in a field off of Roberson Bridge Road In Bartow. The pilot, David Lee Malmin of Cumming, suffered minor injuries, Sheriff Smith said.
Malmin was flying from Swainsboro to Atlanta when he experienced mechanical issues with the engine, Sheriff Smith said. Sheriff Smith said the plane was a 2012 RV7 Experimental Home Built.

Colombia's GRIAA have opened an investigation into the occurrence rated a serious incident.
Colombia's DGCA reported an engine of the cargo flight failed causing debris to affect the area of Fontibon, located just south of the aerodrome at about the crosswind leg of runways 13, at about 07:15L (12:15Z).
An Air France Airbus A318-100, registration F-GUGK performing flight AF-7736 from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Brest (France) with 85 passengers and 6 crew, was enroute at FL380 about 55nm northeast of Rennes (France) when the crew reported smoke in the cabin and initiated a rapid descent towards Rennes, where the aircraft landed safely on runway 28 about 20 minutes later.May 7
Passengers reported light white smoke appeared in the cabin, cabin crew recommended to use handkerchiefs or other cloths before the mouth to protect against the smoke. The aircraft diverted to Rennes.

The aircraft was going on a test flight when it experienced some sort of in-flight emergency and went into the Spokane River. Sources at Felts Field indicate this was a test flight, done on a plane not owned in Spokane.
Witnesses say the men radioed the tower for help, saying they were having mechanical problems before it went down.
While the fire department called this an experimental test flight, sources familiar with the aircraft tell KXLY4, it was a Piper Malibu, a plane capable of carrying up to six passengers in most cases.
Right now, the ages and hometowns of the two occupants have not been disclosed, nor is it known which of the two men was flying the plane at the time of the crash.
This is the second plane crash in the vicinity of Felts Field this year involving a Piper Malibu. In February, a Piper PA46-350 lost power on climb out from Felts Field. That aircraft was destroyed on impact when the pilot, Michael Clements, attempted an emergency landing near the Hamilton Street overpass.

Smoke filled the cabin of a Delta Air Lines that had departed from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, today, causing the plane to be diverted to Charleston, South Carolina, from its original destination, LaGuardia Airport in New York, officials said.
Fabiola Dias, one of the 89 passengers on Flight 2028 recorded a short video from inside the cabin and uploaded it to Twitter after the plane safely landed.
"Landed safe and sound after smoke filled cabin [...] #neveradullday @Delta thx pilots," Dias wrote

SkyWest Plane With Landing Gear Trouble Makes Emergency Landing at LAX:
A plane with dozens of passengers landed safely at LAX Monday despite being unable to deploy some of its landing gear, officials said.
The SkyWest Airlines plane with 43 people aboard reported "problems" as it approached the airport to land at about 8:30 a.m., LAX spokeswoman Katherine Alvarado confirmed.
The jet was unable to extend its left main landing gear before landing on runway 24L, Ian Gregor with the Federal Aviation Administration said.
The plane came to a stop with the landing gear still retracted and was immediately surrounded by emergency personnel, aerial video from Sky5 showed.

The young pilot, Magnús Hlini Víkingur Magnússon, had just passed his pilot exam that very morning and was practicing liftoff and landing at Tungubakkaflugvöllur airport near the golf course in Mosfellsbær when the accident occurred, RÚV reports.
Magnús, who only suffered minor injuries—which is considered to be miraculous—said that while making a turn, the plane had suddenly started falling. "I wasn't being careless ... I've landed there many hundred times before. It was just an accident."

The aircraft came to rest near Cité des Jeunes Boulevard, a few hundred metres from the landing strip at the St-Lazare, Que., airport.
A spokesperson for the Transportation Safety Board said late Thursday that it appears the aircraft, a homebuilt biplane, was trying to land at the airport.
Danielle St-Hilaire, who owns a bicycle shop that overlooks the field, said she saw the aircraft go down.
"I was looking out thinking what a nice day it was when I saw something and yelled at my husband, 'Hey, there's a plane about to crash,'" St-Hilaire said.
"The plane was completely vertical to the ground, going straight down."
She said the impact of the crash caused a huge fireball and then the tail of the plane broke off.

A light aircraft was forced to declare an emergency and touchdown on its belly after its landing gear failed to deploy.
Balt Gini, 17, was on board the Piper Malibu aircraft with his father flying from their home in Geneva, Switzerland to Madrid, Spain when the incident took place.
According to Balt, who recorded the landing and spoke about the occurrence online, they were travelling to Spain to visit his sister when the landing gear failed to deploy as they neared the airport.

Flight 1471A was scheduled to leave LAX at 5:35 a.m. for Atlanta, according to Delta's website. At 6:06 a.m., the pilot radioed "electrical smell in the cabin" of the Boeing 757, Delta spokeswoman Betsy Talton.
The plane returned to LAX "out of an abundance of caution," Talton said.
First responders from the Sharps Chapel Fire Department arrived on the scene to find a small airplane near the edge of a field with the front end in brush near a wooded area.

A commercial airliner made an emergency landing Monday afternoon at Ben Gurion International Airport after experiencing technical issues during takeoff from Sde Dov airport in north Tel Aviv. Some 80 passengers were on the Israir flight to Eilat. One of those passengers, Sharon, told Ynet, "The captain informed us that one engine was dead and the second motor was working normally and that we were preparing for an emergency landing at Ben Gurion Airport. The plane started turning and going in circles over the sea while the stewardesses started emergency protocols, explaining to us what to do in these kinds of landings and how to sit and bend over in the plane. "There were lots of children who cried and they panicked, but the atmosphere was mostly OK." The passengers exited the plane at Ben Gurion and waited for a replacement aircraft to make the trip to Eilat. The incident was the second such technical emergency in under a week. Lake County Sheriff Don Bell told MTN News that a small crop duster plane made an emergency landing in the Irvine Flats area near Polson around 1:30 p.m.
Bell said the pilot was having mechanical problems before the crash. He said the plane landed hard, breaking the wheels and skidding to a stop.

An ABC11 Eyewitness shared what happened moments before the flight left the runway.
"The Alarms went off twice while we were on the ground and then we got up there and we just got to about decreasing altitude and it went off again. Then you had a little bit of an electric smell," said a passenger on the flight.
Fortunately, no one was hurt.
This is the second United flight leaving RDU to make an emergency landing within a month. Most recently, a flight heading to Newark had to make an emergency landing in Philadelphia after an engine caught fire.

Prior to the crash, Buell said, the plane took off, circled the field twice, then attempted to land from the north. It is believed engine problems caused the plane to stall, and it crashed in the corral just short of the runway.
The plane was extensively damaged, Buell said, and appears to be totaled.

A Cessna 150 and a Talkeetna Air Taxi Cessna 185 collided at low altitudes at the Talkeetna airstrip about 5 p.m., Sunday. Emergency responders evaluated six people who were flying in the two planes for injuries. One person was transported by ambulance to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
