Trophy hunter and U.S. television host Melissa Bachman ignited controversy this week after posting a picture showing her posing over a dead lion she had slain in South Africa earlier this month.
"An incredible day hunting in South Africa! Stalked inside 60-yards on this beautiful male lion...what a hunt!" she tweeted from her now deleted account, attaching a picture of her kneeling over the dead adult lion.
The picture was posted online Nov. 1, but only attracted attention this past week. Bachman has posted countless other pictures online showing her with other dead animals.
She is the host of "Winchester Daily Passion" which airs on the Pursuit Channel, available on DISH and DirectTV. According to The Telegraph, she calls describes herself as a "hardcore huntress."
As of publication, over 11,000 individuals have signed a petition asking the government of South Africa to "deny future entry" to Bachman, despite her actions being legal in the African country.
"Melissa Bachman has made a career out of hunting wildlife, for pure sport," the petition says.
"She is an absolute contradiction to the culture of conservation, this country prides itself on," it continues. "Her latest Facebook post features her with a lion she has just executed and murdered in our country."
"It's tragic that this vile woman is allowed to hunt such beautiful animals for her own bit of fun," wrote Tracey Sinott on the petition's website.
"This is inhumane," added Joe McPhee. "I can't even fully express how much this upsets and disappoints me."

Anyway, this is what the real world "leaders" do to human beings, not animals. They're just not fool enough to put it on facebook or twitter.
I wouldn't exactly call it a hunt.... It was shooting animals in a conservancy..... You can see that in all three pictures the lady hadn't even broken a sweat... I would put money on the fact that she shot them from a jeep or something like that....That the Conservancy said the hunts are conducted to boost conservation is as stupidas the Japanese hunting for whales in the Southern Ocean is for science and sustainability..... All it really is in either case is a non contest duck shoot organized to make someone money.....
That Lion was breed to be hunted. It's property owned then sold for the hunt.
No different than a Lion sold to a zoo which goes there to die.
All those slanders this women are hypocrites if they are not at the gates of every zoo in their respective countries tomorrow morning.
Get a life and take up a real cause threatening mankind.
Melissa Bachman is a serial killer. People who kill for sport have control issues and their parents are to blame.
Hunting is what people did for food, in order to survive, before the rise of domestication. since she is obviously not going to eat that lion, and DID NOT kill it in self-defense, it is simply murder.
...the animals a gun and let them stand over their hunter in a photograph. Why does society insist on giving psychopaths loads of publicity. If only every person who saw these photographs was outraged, saddened and/or heartbroken - maybe then we could experience change - positive change as a humanity.
Rest in peace beautiful animals and may your spirits guide us towards a better life with deeper meaning.
Much Peace...to all animals who are slain for the ego of humans...
