Secret History
It's the tallest known pyramid in the New World and possibly the biggest pyramid by volume on earth, 2.8 million cubic meters.
For years, it was mistaken for a big hill.
Amazingly, this pyramid was unknown just a few decades ago and is part of collection of ruins covering an area bigger than downtown Los Angeles.
Stories like this are a reminder to take schoolbook archeology with a grain of salt. Not only do we not know all that there is to know, it appears that people trying to get the answers aren't getting much help figuring it out.

i suppose that is must have been raining dirt. Or, in the reverse of the hundred thousand laborer Great Pyramid story, you send a hundred thousand peasants up there with a sack of dirt.
Earth crust movement could bury a pyramid under the water or bring it back under proper conditions.
i was watching a show on Nat-Geo, over ten years ago, on ancient civilization in South America and in the show, they had shown some interesting things. the latter of which i thought would be mentioned here. but to my dismay, it wasn't. what WAS shown was the knowledge that pyramids become buried by nature over time and eventually look like natural hills. in the show, it was shown (and i'm quoting what i remember to be the 'exact' number. it's kinda hard to forget such staggering statistics when they're that shocking) that some 247 supposed "mountains and hills" running up and down S. A's west coast, actually turned out to be pyramids and/or some other type of structure. it was a show on the many believed locations of Atlantis. while showing the many similarities in design of pyramids, the world-over, mainly Egypt vs. South/Central America, they had also shown a mile-high pyramid where they happened to take the camera crew to the top and show the mountain had four equally distinct sides. the internet was in it's early days and information on the net then was rather limited. (comparatively speaking) so finding anything then, or since for that matter, about this structure is almost mute. to this day i rarely run into somebody who has also seen this show. (if it wasn't nat-geo, it was history) at any rate, there's obviously a massive cover-up going on, and the only thing i could fathom for motive is having to rewrite history and/or admitting their facts aren't as straight as they claim. and since they have now come up with significant evidence to suggest the Minoans have traveled over seas to help the "copper culture" (i'm FROM the U.P. of Michigan, USA where they resided) remove native copper to fuel the bronze age, this theory is more than plausible. anyways, was just wondering about anyone else's views on the "mile-high" pyramid.....
