Reality check: Remember, when the first shots of Desert Storm were fired, Iraq had the fourth largest standing army on Earth. Yet they were taken out, and brought to their knees, in a matter of weeks with a 10,000 to one casualty ratio.
Todays Iran doesn't even have the military prowess Iraq had before desert storm. While the US military industrial juggernaut has been improving their weapons, and watching, studying, them & chomping at the bit for any excuse to take the fight to them & smoke their camels for years now.
State sponsered terroism has a certain plausible deniability. But a missile fired from Iran at US forces or our allies anywhere in the middle east for any reason would give them all the reason they need to respond with overwhelming force.
We may not have the means to change Iranian politics. But no matter whether you agree with American military doctrine or not. We most certainly have the power to blast the Iranian war machine back into the stone age, rendering them harmless for at least another generation.
