The National Weather Service in northern Indiana has issued a number of flood watches and warnings for northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio.

The flood warning continues for the following rivers:
  • St. Joseph River affecting Allen and DeKalb counties in Indiana and Defiance County in Ohio until Friday night. At 1 p.m. Monday, the river was 9.8 feet and falling in Fort Wayne. Flood stage is 12.0 feet, and the weather service said it is likely to rise above flood stage Tuesday morning and crest near 14.9 feet by 2 a.m. Wednesday. Minor flooding is forecast.
  • St. Joseph River near Newville was measured at 12.5 feet and steady at 3 p.m. Monday, with minor flooding. Flood stage is 12.0 feet. The river is expected to crest near 134.0 feet about 2 p.m. Thursday. Moderate flooding is forecast.
  • Wabash River near Bluffton affecting Huntington and Wells counties.
  • Tiffin River near Stryker affecting Defiance, Fulton and Williams counties in Ohio.
The weather service said the region can expect rain and thunderstorms through the middle of the week.

It said the potential exists for 1 to 3 inches of rainfall today through Wednesday with locally higher amounts possible.

Minor flooding continues in the Maumee and Upper Wabash River basins, the weather service said.

It said already saturated ground combined with additional heavy rainfall that is expected early this week is expected to cause or prolong minor to moderate flooding.

Drivers are urged to avoid flooded areas, and children should not play in or near flood waters.

Flood watches continue for the following rivers:
  • Maumee River at Fort Wayne affecting Allen County in Indiana and Paulding County in Ohio. As of 8 a.m. Monday, the river was 13.3 feet and falling. Flood stage is 17.0 feet. If the forecasts hold, the river may rise to near 18.1 feet Thursday morning, the weather service said.
  • St. Marys River near Decatur from late Monday night until further notice. Flood stage is 17.0 feet, and the weather service said it could rise to near 19.9 feet Tuesday evening.
  • St. Marys River at the Muldoon Bridge on Fort Wayne's south side from Tuesday morning until Thursday evening. Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
  • Wabash River near Linn Grove affecting Adams and Wells counties.
  • Eel River at North Manchester affecting Cass, Miami and Wabash counties.
  • Tippecanoe River near Ora affecting Fulton, Kosciusko, Marshall, Pulaski and Starke counties.
  • Tippecanoe River above Winamac affecting Carroll, Pulaski and White counties.
  • St. Joseph River below Montpelier affecting Williams County in Ohio.
