People who shut their eyes to reality simply invite their own destruction, and anyone who insists on remaining in a state of innocence long after that innocence is dead turns himself into a monster.

The words of Lori Haskell, starting at 1:04 in the interview speaks of the greater problem facing the citizenry of the US.
“In general the people of this country would rather not know, if knowing, means they are going to be terrified”
What is TMI?
Transmarginal inhibition, or TMI, is an organism's response to overwhelming stimuli. Ivan Pavlov demonstrated that when Transmarginal Inhibition began to take over a condition similar to hysteria manifested. In states of fear and excitement, normally sensible human beings will accept the most wildly improbably suggestions…Such as a 16yr old Sudanese "underwear bomber", who can gain access to one the most highly policed/militarized immigrationally controlled states on the globe, the US homeland. And all this, without a passport! Despite the overtly intrusive background checks and anti-terrorism databases barring such potential terrorists an non-passport holders from entry!
Ivan Pavlov enumerated details of TMI on his work of conditioning animals to pain. He found that organisms had different levels of tolerance. He commented "that the most basic inherited difference among people was how soon they reached this shutdown point and that the quick-to-shut-down have a fundamentally different type of nervous system."
Patients who have reached this shutdown point often become socially dysfunctional or develop one of several personality disorders. Often patients who dissociate during and after the experience, will more easily dissociate or shut down during stressful or painful experiences, and may experience post traumatic stress disorder for the remainder of their lives.
It was the insightful and hard work done by the SOTT team that first awakened me to this TMI and it’s affect on my life and the lives of others, which I can now ‘see’ plain as day. The original article written as a SOTT focus piece is still the best written work done on this subject and how it continues to affect us all…if we let it!
