I am really hoping we will see a concerted populous effort to cancel bank debt. If one country manages to pull it off, then others may take heart and try the same thing. (And of course, the American public will be warned against the evils of socialism once again, but whatever.)
If that happened; if all debt markers were reset to zero, then who would suffer? Really, what would happen? (If we removed guns and fascism from the equation, that is.)
-All the physical infrastructure and food production capabilities would remain in existence. There's more than enough food and energy to go around, if it were managed efficiently. And that's without exploiting new sciences. If we removed usury from the economy, if governments started actually issuing their own money. . .
The only thing that would change would be the ability to trick workers into toiling long hours for next to no return. Gee whiz. The slaves would not be forced to slave. Would everything fall apart then? No. Of course not. Why would it? We're only talking about debt cancellation. We might have to start building our own crappy junk instead of offloading the jobs to even poorer people far away. Or perhaps, we could even start living without all that extra junk and work instead toward other goals. Without debt, there would be a LOT of extra energy available to spend.
I've been told by economics 'experts' who tell me why such a thing would spell disaster. But I disagree. I think it would spell change, but I for one would be willing to play in that new environment. I strongly suspect that, *with psychopaths removed from the equation*, it could be smartly managed and rapidly made into a heaven on Earth.
I think it's important to recognize that the U.S.S.R. was a failed attempt at socialism, sabotaged from day one. They got rid of the oligarchs but failed to recognize and rid themselves of their psychopaths. Socialism *could* work. It doesn't even have to be called Socialism. Heck, I could happily do without centralized government. If compassion, knowledge and level-headed behavior were prized above all things, then society could work very well without top-down pyramidal power structuring.
Sadly, I don't think we're going to get the chance to find out before the next ice age.
So I just hope the Irish manage to pull together and refuse to submit to unnecessary suffering at the hands of international banker bullies. I think that's the best we can hope for today.
